I purchased the same e-bike (2023 basalt st) as my first e-bike and I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit. I increased the max speed to 31MPH in the settings and sold my inverters that came with the bike (my dad got one also so with the promotion we got two inverters and a decent bike rack) which helped offset the price for us. No issues so far after 3 months of riding and since I purchased it from a shop, and not online, the customer service hasn’t been an issue. I’d love to find a way to change out the chain to one with more resistance so that on power level 5 at a higher speed there would be less ‘leg piston power’, but I get up to 25ish no problem and higher with throttle in the settings changed to 31mph. Overall I’ve really enjoyed my e-bike and haven’t had any real issues so far, plus I love all the extras they give you with promotions. (Free bike cover, front basket, helmet, lock, alarm, full mud guards and others). Thanks for the great review! Happy riding!
When I first started looking at the Basalt, both the high bar and ST versions were rated for 450# of cargo. Then the ST became 400# and now the high bar is 400# and the ST is 350#. I was thinking of pulling the trigger on a ST, but given I am 315# I think I’ll go with the Aventure.2.
I don't own the Basalt but I did buy the Mokwheel Asphalt ST. I was actually ready to buy the Aventon Level 2 when I saw the Mokwheel Asphalt ST right next to the Aventon. So I test drove both and liked the Mokwheel better without knowing the price. Its fantastic and at $1,500 its a steal. Likes: 1. Torque peddling. I had it up over 25 mph at PAS 1 peddling pretty hard. What I like is unlike other methods (like cadence) the harder you peddling the faster you go regardless of the set PAS level. If I set it to PAS 3 I get to 25 mph with less effort PAS 1. That's the difference. Honestly, torque peddling is genius. 2. Its very stable and well built. No wobbling. Even at 30 mph it feels safe. 3. Ergonomics. At first I thought I would not like the handle bars but after riding it around on the test drive I came to appreciate how comfortable it felt. 4. Its fast. If you want it to be. If not you can adjust the settings to limit speed. 5. No herky jerky with the motor. Its very smooth. 6. Color display. I will never go back to black and white. 7. Lights - powerful headlight, great rear lights integrated into the frame and breaking lights. All integrated and powered by the battery. 8. It has a built in horn! 9. Comes with fenders and rear rack. Improvements: 1. The gears work great but I would recommend Mokwheel adds an 8th gear. 2. Nothing else. Its really that good. Great bike. Highly recommend
Very good video and explanation of the Basalt. I am also a influencer " E Bike Nation" and I love your videos and your editing of the videos. Would you mind if I asked what software you are using for editing? Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the kind words. Premiere Pro is what we use. Check into DaVinci Resolve. It is a more powerful program, especially if you want to get into some more intricate editing.
Don't understand why the heck are these bike companies putting on a 14-28 freewheel; and in this case a 44 tooth chain ring. Good grief, your leg pistons will be up and down like crazy! No wonder why their web site does not provide that information.
You mention "intensity settings" 1 thru 5. Does this mean it'll start to pedal slowly and gently at 1 and increase in intensity if I set higher numbers? I'm not looking for a racehorse that jumps straight out of the gate. A slow increase means I can have my dog trot on the leash, not force him to gallop. Torque sensor counts, of course, but a gentle throttle set to 1 would also help a lot.
Yes. If you increase the "Intensity Level" the bike will provide you with more power via the motor. The torque sensor would make it easier to slow and increase your pace for your dog.
@@EbikeEscape Thank God. Keep those criminally rich and their racist airheads on a short leash. They've almost ruined Wisconsin during the last 30+ years.
EXTREME BUYER BEWARE: only get this bike or any bike from Mokwheel if you enjoy having an absolute NIGHTMARE of a time dealing with support. There are many other bikes better than this from reputable companies who offer actual customer support for the same price or less.

Here is a link to a new rear freewheel. This would help with pedaling at those higher speeds: amzn.to/3tFXXJi (affiliate link)

Hill test is a big fail! Velotric Nomad 1 performs much better.

In your opinion what are the best brands?
@@DanEvan In my experience Aventon and Freesky are better.
