    Not everybody will appreciate it, but the team for SSHD didn't just change the resolution and controls and call it a day. A handful of these are big fixes to what made Skyward Sword a bit of a drag at times.

      It's kinda hard to believe so many people think that's all that was done. On the one hand, yes, it is largely the same game with no new dungeons or story elements. On the other, it's not like they phoned it in, either.

      @@OtakuUnitedStudio people think it's like that because they just watched gameplay and never actually tried the game. You can find people talking like that about every remake, even the ones that addressed some pretty big issues.

      I am currently playing skyward sword for Wii and yeah, the biggest annoyances are the load times, the slow unskipable dialogue, the fact you have to rewatch boss intros if you lose the boss fight, and the sloppy motion controls. All that said I just beat twilight princess and skyward sword so far is a big improvement. Twilight princess felt like a beta-test in comparison. I should mention i was playing the Gamecube version of twilight princess and it just felt like it was missing a lot of polish.
      Oh another annoyance in skyward sword is the fact theres a giant transparent wiimote on screen at all times, and the fact that you cant use the un-used directional buttons for quicksloting items, the rotary menus that come up to select items arent transparent at all, but they also don't pause the game, so getting out an item in a fight is a very dangerous move.
      I also find it ambiguous which items i find in the B rotary menu and which ones I find in the (-) rotary menu. I always end up checking both.

      remember it is a 60$ game, that's why it doesn't make any sense, this details are fine and loading screens taking less, but it is not worth 60$ at all.

      Is it even raining or did they just put a rain filter on screen? GTA trilogy remaster did the same thing with putting a rain Instagram filter instead of actually having it rain in the game. The rain falls on screen but it doesn’t hit link’s hat or shield

      @@nekolu do you only mean while flying or including the isle of songs? Because 21:12 is definitely supposed to “rain” look closely when it looks at the ground (and technically listen too I guess?)

      @@V.U.4six filter or not, as long as it isn’t intrusive, it ain’t gonna bother nobody. The gta trilogy rain, however, is far worse and makes it hard to see anything. It shows how they don’t care about quality when they dumped a Snapchat rain filter and called it a day.

    For the goddess harp segment, it seems the hd version used the NTSC script whereas the Wii used its own PAL script

    A lot of these don't feel like "small changes" so much as "Tantalus fuck ups".
    The Bazaar NPC animations for example... something got messed up there in the code. If I'm not mistaken when the camera is turned away the NPC's despawn (in a lot of Nintendo games what isn't on screen tends to disappear, a common optimization trick). So basically the animation IS in fact there, but in the original this animation would loop after a designated time. So something likely got altered on the programming side in regards to telling the game to loop that full animation. Mind you I don't know how those idles wee set up originally.
    Rupin's sigh again feels like a fuck up. It's an audio file tied to an animation. Seeing as there is no reason not to include this sound, it was likely forgotten, or lost while transferring and updating files.
    So it feels like for every minor improvement, there were little things that were lost. Regardless, I'm still happy that the game was released in HD. Deserved a second chance with more traditional control scheme for those who wanted it.

      I'm glad it was rereleased as well, I'm sad some of this was cut but some of it I can do without since overall it's an improvement

      I think your explanation about the animations is probably right, though an alternative reason might be to seem more "professional". Like Peatrice - it's understandable for her to doze off out of boredom when no one is around; but to do so right when someone walks up to her, probably for the first time ever, makes it seem less like she's bored and more like she doesn't want any customers. Or the potion makers - trying to call customers over when you have one right in front of you seems a bit uncouth. That said, this isn't what I'd call an improvement.
      The rendering distance is definitely a mistake, though. Unless it's an odd quirk of the Switch's architecture, which is possible but seems unlikely to me.

    "Now is not the time to give it a close examination" was used in the EU version of the game originally, while "But there's no time to admire it" was in the NA version. The Switch version seems to largely use the NA translation. I find it quite funny that this line in particular was changed, since the EU version has a wordy and kind of awkward explanation for how you don't have time to do so. I think some of the other dialogue changes you pointed out were also in the original NA version.

    Why’d they get rid of the Sheikah Stone?! That thing was actually extremely helpful when I was stuck, and served the purpose of the walkthrough and/or a human helper, and made me feel like I did the game on my own without help because it was help built into the game, and I couldn’t access the gossip stones for a while, so those weren’t of any help, only the Sheikah Stone. I know some people never used it but it was still helpful at times.

      I think they assume that if people get stuck they can/will just look it up online. Also they know the game received a lot of criticism for hand holding too much

    *sigh* of course they'd get rid of the cool intro video on the Switch version. That's sadly becoming more and more common with modern video games since people apparently don't have the patience to watch a freaking intro video anymore. I'm just glad JRPGs still do them

    Okay this HD remaster is amazing but the fact they removed such cool things from the og like the NPC's just straight up talking to you when you do something like carrying the barrel that triggers a dialogue with Fledge bothers me, and when i saw the bombs couldn't roll under the bokoblins towers in the HD remaster it infuriated me as well cause like- such amazing little details and they just throw them to the trash like that?????

      The dialogue changes were for the sake of speeding up progression. Which was much needed specially in the intro. As for the bombs the base of the towers are super low to the ground so it never made sense to me how they just ended up underneath for no reason

      Honestly it is better. You can now spend less time speaking to npcs. Also the tower's base was low so the bombs clipped under it in the originals. Also it made no sense how an explosion from underneath made the tower fall like that

      What are you talking about? It's WAY better now. They obviously heard all the backlash from us fans when the original came out and one of their responses was to take out all the hand-holding, which is what they did by getting rid of the automatic dialogue. I'm very glad they did this, they finally trust that their fans are smart enough to know how to play a videogame.

    I kind of miss the original subtle rain effect. I think the overbearing rain works better for a boss fight but the subtle works better for ambience.

      No. Wii version had the platform float a little ways before it drops down and the lava pushes it up. On the switch, we see it pushed up by default.

    Didn't play this game on Wii and I'm currently playing it on switch, for me it's good, not the best Zelda by far but is definitely a game made for fans who know about Zelda games story

    Anyone know if there is a difference to that mandatory mini-game where you use the dive bomb loftwing attack you just learned? I mean, did they tweak the difficulty or is it noticeably easier because of the controls, or anything? That one mini-game was the hardest, most frustrating $%&*ing thing I had to do in the game (including Demise) and you just can't complete the game without it.

      It is. All of these changes are incredibly minor, some of them merely existing because of the Switch's better hardware and not from any tweaking from the developers.

      @@sayzar9474 It did. They only fixed some of the issues with the game. It's still incredibly tedious because of issues that could have easily been fixed, but that would have costed more money, which I know megapopular Nintendo is really hurtin for.

They made all the changes necessary to keep the game faithful to what they wanted it to be. The only changes they didn’t make that they should’ve are graphical and it’s not that big of a deal either

    There is a small thing about swinging the sword in the HD version that I find VERY annoying that wasn't in the Wii version, you see the Switch system, (yes even the light one) has this problem where after a certain amount of time the joy-cons start to glitch out making your controllable characters do things you the player DON'T WANT THEM TO DO!!! In this game for example, in the Wii version you can make Link swing his sword in anyway you want with little to no problems at all, in the Switch version however, due to that joy-con problem I mentioned when you make Link swing his sword, (done by either tilting the right analog stick or swinging the right joy-con FYI) if you've had your Switch for a while that problem makes Link stab. For example, in the training hall if you want to practice on the logs and go to swing sideways on the Switch system Link will stab instead. Unfortunately this also happens when your in a battle like say against the giant crab boss or the first boss of the Forest Temple Girihim, making those fights that much harder than they should be. Especially when your trying to get the Hylean sheild as you must fight Girihim twice in boss rush, the problem also makes Link draw his sword when you don't want him to. Also dispite my griping, this was an awesome video BTW.😎

      It might be your joycons are broken or that you haven't been regularly updating them. I try to update mine every time i boot up the game.

      @@CodaBlairLucarioEmperor I think it's just an empowerment thing. In early Zelda games Link was always left-handed and people thought it was cool that someone as awesome as Link was a lefty. It was a small but neat thing that made him different from most other heroes and probably made alot of left handed people feel good. Kind of like how Samus being a woman but still being a badass that everyone respects and admires probably makes alot of women feel good.
      Long story short, people like when underappreciated things about themselves are represented by powerful icons like Link and Samus and losing that for no reason can be a shame for some. After all, if it doesn't matter which hand it's in, why change it to a different one in the first place?
