Only in baki that philosophy are represented so insanely, the idea of surpassing and breaking from other's expectations is show by literally breaking physics itself and broke what anyone would think possible
My man, that has to be one of the best ways to describe Katsumis arc, kinda jelly I didn't come up with that myself 😅
"The fake is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempt to be real, it's more real than the real thing." - Best Girl Kaiki Deishuu
his writing is so fire 😭🙏
I won’t lie
I started the Baki series through the Netflix anime and I wasn’t the biggest fan of Katsumi’s character. I found him kind of bland in the insane world of Baki. I didn’t hate him but i just didn’t really care until his interaction with Doyle occurred.
I loved seeing the two grow through each other and Katsumi managing to put their past aside to help teach and humble Doyle was easily a great moment for him to me.
After I finished the Unchained arc, I read the manga and began to appreciate Katsumi even more. While he’s not in my top 5 of favourite characters, he’s still a great one and I can totally see why he’s a fan favourite.
Yeah as I think I've said in a few videos now starting with the netflix anime really effects your perception of a lot of character mainly Baki himself as you come in after the foudnation of their character has been laid and Katsumi is another character who really suffers given how important his arc in Grappler Baki is, but yeah I used to not value him too much but now he's easily top 5 for me (rotates between 4-5 with Haneyama depending on my mood)
I remember an analysis of the Baki series where, after the Baki/Yujiro fight, someone had noted that Yujiro is having to adjust to the world beginning to revolve around Baki, rather than himself...
Katsumi seems like a good reflection of that. His character arc is about his philosophy developing and being closer to Baki's over time, and on top of his change in perspective, hes the man who will "push karate forward" into its 501st year.
Baki's era and Karate's next era coinciding with one another.
I'll be honest. I wasn't a big fan of the Baki anime or Baki Hanma. But Katsumi's growth and arc was honestly my favorite aspect. Didn't really feel like any other character got a character moment quitr as good as that.
Kengan is def better.
@@Charlemagne788 What does Kengan have to do with this?
In the fight Baki vs Zulu , at some point Baki get pinned down and Doppo ask Katsumi what would he do in that situation, Katsumi respond something like « well the karate is a standing fighting style martial art, if I get pinned down I lose, the best way to prevent it is to not get down in the first place ».
I find it funny how Doppo asked that knowing the answer since in his dedicated side manga, he gets pinned down by an opponent and go for the balls.
And against the Sumo Katsumi also gets pinned on the ground making him go for the balls to escape.
It’s a nice touch 🤌
A nice ball touch indeed
If go for the balls is the answer so be it.
That's the difference between a fight with no rules and a tournament with rules.
If you are fighting for the glory without rules or survival there's no reason to not use everything in your arsenal.
It's crazy to think that Baki of all things would give a positive, aspirational yet humble vision of masculinity, yet here we are.
This are my favourite tipe of Baki videos, I'd love to see one about Pickle knowing how he is changing in Baki Rahen
Thanks so much, once Pickle has done his stuff in Rahen I will be sure to make a video on it, planning on redoing my Jack video so will be talking about Rahen in that one
I think Retsu is like the strongest normal modern human out there if you dont count the Hanma family. I think his skills even wins against doppo.
The Two Mons Nightwing Half chinesse man got a video!
Didn't expect that.
Wake me up, when is motobe's turn...
It made me tear up, the way you explained the character was goated😢
Baki philosophy analyse video is my favourite, cus how batshit insane and stupidly wacky the show is people can't focus on the great philosophy that was the whole point of the series
This video coming out as i'm starting to take up karate myself is...
Amusing timing. I like it!
Katsumi is in my top 3 fav Baki characters, probably with Hanayama and Jack
Very nice videos I can tell you are passionate about the anime and manga versions of Baki you seem to pay attention to many details and most likely rewatched/reread the series many times like many of us did.
Basically just found your channel but im lowkey addicted to these fucken character analysis videos lol. Thank you for the entertainment man
No thank you for watching, glad your enjoyinf the content
Probably my favorite character in Baki. I won’t lie I originally I was pretty meh about Katsumi but his growth in the pickle arc legit moved me to tears.
Honey!, Seth the soon to repent, released a Baki video!
Baki's version of Ryo Sakazaki
He is Ryo with Robin backstory 😂
Hell yeah! A new Seph video!
I would love to see a Retsu analysis video in the future. I've always liked your Baki videos, keep up the good work! 👍🏾
I think the simple fact that Katsumi _made Pickle religious_ is enough to prove that he came a loooooooong way from his introduction.
Bro started as a jerk… a really cool jerk, but the Pickle arc came, and he turned from a jerk to my absolute Top 1 Baki character.
Baki is one ☝️ of my favorite 🤩 anime because it’s about karate 🥋
Katsumi the future of karate… with Chinese martial arts on the side
It's just a little dressing
The 4000 year of chinese martial arts prevails
At this point no one has finished the video yet,
Exactly now they have.
I have now finished
Just got done 👍🏿
I do like Katsumi journey, because even Genius follows wrong mentality and takes time to find the correct mentality.
Katsumi fought Death Row Inmates, Pickles the Caveman who ate his right arm, continue to train with one arm, and now has Retsu Kaioh Right arm. Katsumi has to adjust his fighting style with having a Right Arm back, so Katsumi is dangerous and it could be possible Retsu arm/fist has Partial Training to make Katsumi right arm/fist become even more dangerous in fight.
Katsumi took many L's but all those losses will push Katsumi to greatness.
In Baki, Katsumi broke the Sound Barrier with both his punches alone with a Right Kick and learn from REAL Chinese Martial Artist to inherit new and ancient teachings of Martial Arts but to push the Future of Karate to a new level/year of greatness. Doppo Orochi proud of man Katsumi cultivating and becoming a great fighter.
Anyone wants "Baki" Katsumi Orochi vs "Kengan Ashura" Rei Mikazuki? Because I want to see who is faster/accurate in striking and can obtain the victory between these two. Rei might have disadvantage because Katsumi a Martial Arist and he is Assassin, but if it "Kengan Omeg" then Rei develop methods of Akido into his Fighting Style given he trained with Hatsumi. Still Katsumi had insane feats and learned from his losses to become stronger because of it.
I will say Katsumi more complete/fleshed out than Rei, so I can see Katsumi taking Victory if he can break Sound Barrier to shock/surprise Rei unable to keep up with such a strike.
Don't forget that Katsumi fought Jack Hanma to a draw (the both knocked each other out) , that badass fight is too often overlooked.
Hanayama even had money on him (while Yujiro bet on his son).
Katsumi Orochi's younger brother, Mumon Katsuragi, is equally OP so I hope he'll show up in a proper Baki series, and not just spin-offs...
I love spin-offs, but even a hardcore Baki fan can have trouble keeping up with everything that is coming out, especially since not all of them are translated.
Great video!
Thanks so much
Real Protagonist potential
Great vids man
I think Katsumi didn't kill Doyle is because if he did he will just be proving Doyle's point that defeat can only come through death and as we know defeat comes when you prove your opponent wrong and if he killed Doyle he would be proven wrong, but by choosing to let Doyle live and "accept defeat" he is proving his point by letting him live and that you can still live and be the loser.
It's Still Amazing see that Katsumi beat Hanayama that put him as a Top Tier, His speed are God level sadly Itagaki are more worried about Katsumi brother now.
Katsumi also fought to a draw against Jack Hanma, that puts him in _super-duper tier_ ... and Katsumi's brother, Mumon Katsuragi is a fun side character, but his Gaiden is moving way too slow, so I wouldn't worry too much about him taking his older brother's place...
So many great Baki Gaidens right now, between the crazy "Chiharu Shiba & Hanayama vs Ron Shogun & Shunsei Kaioh"
And the "Sikorsky/Gaia" side story, it's a good time to be a Baki nerd
(can't believe I bought my first Baki volume almost 20 years ago, time really flies)
I'm curios to what you think of the new jack stuff and how that compares with his story prior
I'm gonna make a video on it at some point, but in short, I love the focus Jack's character is currently getting but hate that it is at the expense of his previous writing, I'll explain it when I get to making the video but having Jack succeed as a fighter while still being a drug addict, who opposes Baki's way of training, really undermines and in some ways ruins a lot of the writing in Grappler Baki and Son of Ogre, but I could be taking too soon and Jack gets an Alai Junior twist I just don't see that as too likely, so yeah I will make a video on it so just wait for that
sounds like he should fight jack before baki or yujuro does. probably next after pickle but to be honest he doesnt stand any chance.
Finally 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let bro cook
1st 🤙👍
