    There are a few options with regard to setting up the microphone not only for your voice, but also the best punch. In the menu. You can move through to mic eq and select one of those features, I believe there's 1 through 7. I selected 6. I get very good audio reports with those settings. You can really fine-tune the mic. If you go into the proper memory settings and use tone two on the back of the mic, in my opinion. Thanks for another excellent video.

    Great video 📹 again Fred, appreciate your demonstrations.
    The ft-450D is a great 'workhorse' on air, I find the cw filtering fantastic and yes stick with the md 100 🎤 best 73's 😉👍

    Another great video Fred, always good to see your tests. I wonder if Yaesu does another handheld mic that works as well as the desk mic? That would be nice. Two comments: If I'm not mistaken the FT450 has a talkback feature that allows you to listen to your own audio, handy for getting the audio just right. Second: YOU really should get yourself a Ham Ticket you know, your missing tons of stations you could be working with that 450 and not just be stuck on 27 megs :-)

      Thanks. Ive tried the talkback feature but its a bit hit and miss. The Ham ticket is on the bucket list. :-)

    if you go to your radio settings on your 450D to mic EQ.. and use number 4 you would find your microphone MH-31 will work a lot lot better have done that test myself ..73s from nz

    Hello fred just setting up after a few years do u know much about yeasu ft 847 like the look of the radio or the yeasu 897 just wonder which radio u like kenwood ,ts 450 looks good at the min only got 2m 70cm DMR & 10meter cb, would like to work 12 20 40 meters been watching ur videos looks good stuff 73s Matt from clee hill shropshire

      I ve not actual experience using a 847 or 897. Tbh i prefer the larger HF radios like the Yaesu 950. Having menu based radio's is all well and good but not easy to change things when you in the middle of a QSO.

    Hi, Fred. Nice video, good of you to revisit the original mic. Between the MH31 and the Chinese mic, which do you prefer? regards Rob, 19CT019

      In truth i like the MH31 better as it feels nicer in the hand. However at he time i got better reports from the clone mic even if it did feel a little cheaper.

    Hiya Fred :-) A great video. I am New to Your channel and are finding Your videos useful.Your MD100 mic seems a great addition to accompany Your Yaesu 450D.I have been looking at going in for a Amateur Radio License.I have seen a Yaesu FD990 { The old BIG Brother of the 450D ) for £750 Plus a MD100 mic and a good speaker.Is the BIG Brother FD990 any good? Or, should I get the 450D..?Be it the FD990 is a huge box and the 450D is much smaller, maybe just compacting ALL that is in the FD990 into 450D?Thanks for taking the time to read my long-Winded question :-)I have an Icom IC - 7000 I can put into service... But, after seeing Your Yaesu 450D... I fancy it too :-)

      Hi Fred. Firstly as iam not trained as a amatuer my answer is going to be a bit restricted comparing the features on the two radios. I will see if my friend Awesome Dave can pop by and maybe give you a few more details. What i can say is that its going to be the old question of new v used. The 450D you can buy brand new with 12 months peace of mind. You can also have it wide banded at time of purchase for full coverage inc 11 meters. One downside of the 450D (like most modern gear) is that its very menu based and this can be tiresome for adjusting the TX power etc. The older equipment had a lot more buttons and knobs. The 450D is a very good radio esp on SSB and with the MD100 mike the audio is very good indeed.

      Thank you so much Fred for taking the time to reply. Yes. The 450D is certainly one set to consider.Many videos of course cover my questions here on TH-cam. You have a good way with words and plain, fun English :-) Cheers :-)

      I think there is a plug on the base. Not sure Alan i will look next time iam in the shack and let you know.

    • @CB-RADIO-UK
      @CB-RADIO-UK  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there is a 8 pin connector at the back of the mic so i guess you could use it on a boom mic stand with another lead.
