Wow ! The difference on that hand mic blew me away. Sounds great. Thank you for doing that.

Not to nit pick, but it is a condenser mic setting, instead of ceramic. So the M100 has condenser and a dynamic mics. But I would like to thank you for taking time to do the comparisons b/t the different settings. Most just unbox, and “say look what I’ve purchased”!

That M-100 is not worth the money for such little difference. The hand microphone sounds more crisp and clearer. Heil microphones are the way to go. They are much cheaper and sound 100% better than the manufacturer M-100

Great audio test showing how those adjustments affect the audio. Thank you very much for the information you are providing. 73 KD4FJ (South West Texas)

Neat video you opened by eyes to a couple of things i hadn't considered
Did you do the recordings with HRD ? or Another program ? (I've done all my settings using the Monitor Mode of the radio - which is not ideal)
Now I need to experiment (I have 4 different Mics)
2 Heil headsets (one that has just one ear piece) and newer one with 2 ear pieces), then A Mic on a Boom arm
then the Old Yaesu Mic I bought at a swapmeet. Already found I had to use different Mic gain settings for each.

Good evening sir, I actually us a CODEC driver that I installed in my laptop, I originally started with va2fsq SDR Software this video shows how I loaded driver and got the audio through my laptop th-cam.com/video/skQ_GhAsTTI/w-d-xo.html , then when I loaded HRD this also worked, and I get all my audio through this driver. You will need to connect the laptop to the FT991 standard USB-A to USB-B will work fine. I use Screen-O-Matic and feed the radio Audio direct into the video recording software. Good luck let me know if you need anything else, this is another video I did too th-cam.com/video/OwwVq0L4v4w/w-d-xo.html ‘73

    *Fantastic profit margin.*
A microphone shouldn't have to cost ~40% the cost of an HF transceiver (FT-710).
I know that they can, but my point is actually the first sentence in this comment.

Steve I have that M1 Reference mic can I run the Processer? Will that make it distort? I don't use the eq settings on my 991a since this mic already has them

Hi Brian, How you doing? What I would try is MIC-EQ off, PROC on, go to FM List and find METER, tap METER until you see COMP, then locate the MIC-GAIN, talk into the MIc and make sure the COMP needle movements are between 5 -10 db adjust the MIC GAIN as needed to keep the swings between 5-10db, my experience is as long as you are between 5-10 db on voice peaks you are not over driving. Give it try and let me know, also put on some headphones and locate the MON under the FM List tap it to ON and adjust the volume you will hear your self in the headphones '73

Do a test with a 'modified' handheld microfon! Replace the 'original' microfon-capsule with an 0.20$ "electred-microfon capsule" and rework your test again!
Only a 10kilo-Ohm resistor for the supply-voltage and a 0.47micro-Farad capacitor als 'coppeling-capoacitor' ! The simple 'replacemant circuit' you can find on the internet. Don't forget to close all the hollow places, because the new 'element' is much smaller, I use do to this with some foam of a sponge! It sounds 'bad' with the 'holes' in the hand-mike.
Reduce your mike-gain down to ~20, because there will be much more 'omphhh' (AC-voltage/modulation) out of this capsule. Find a sweet regulation spot, with the EQ, and use the processor in a 'soft' way.
It was like 'day and night' or 'Coffee and tea', ... !
Unbelievable what the 0.20$ capsule will do for a FT-991, ... ! Works also very fine for FT-897/857/817 and other similar Yaesu-radios!
Allways reduce your mike-gain, because 'now' it ist to much, ... !
Used this kind of 'mike', since 20 years on my FT-817 (made in 2000) and the following radios!

Your wrong I'n your test..wen you have the eq on and you turn the prosser on the prosser turns the eq off..the radio won't run the eq and prosser together
