These Spartan IV's are probably just the grunts of the program. I want to see ODST with Spartan grade augmentations and equipment. Helljumper Spartans would be kickass. ODST training is no joke so I'd like to see some Spartan IV's show some efficiency.
Remember, Spartan II's were taken as kids to be trained for all warfare. Spartan III's were orphans of Covenant war, Spartan IV's are adult soldiers that passed the test to join the program. Spartan II's and III's will always be better than these guys.
"There won't be any program; not like the Spartan-Twos, anyway or the Spartan-Threes, if I can help it. We're back to using consenting adults now, like we did in Project Orion(Spartan I's)" - Margaret Parangosky Spartans from all generations were invited to the SPARTAN-IV program; Orions, Spartan 1.1s, SPARTAN-IIs and SPARTAN-IIIs could be considered SPARTAN-IVs if they joined. There is reason to believe a number of Spartan-IVs are former ODSTs as well, indicated by ingame dialogue.
Badass Elite "Let us not place the ship in a stable orbit around the planet, let's have it hover in one place, so if our engines fail, we'll be freefalling towards the surface."
Let's invite Halsley onboard! She is know to be incredibly manipulative and understands almost all of UNSC security. Just make sure she doesn't find out the master chief is alive!
Well if you play as team crimson they are probably the best team of Spartans on the Infinity since you do control them but in universe your actions are mostly canon
You're right. They found orphaned survivors from planets that were attacked by the covenant and offered them the chance for revenge. They were recruited for a training program that was designed to be even tougher than the one the Spartan IIs were put through. But, LTC Ambrose stated to CPO Mendez that, "You know... we wind up with some that she would have chosen - not just kids unlucky enough to survive a glassing." Some of the III candidates were on par with IIs, Noble Team in particular.
The S-IIIs were also primarily used for suicide missions faster/cheaper creation. They also got cheap armor, SPI. A few of them, such as Noble, were as good as the S-IIs so they were pulled out of the suicide missions before they occured and gave them mjolnir armor. They then worked under ONI or the UNSC.
Its not a game, more a franchise. It started life as a Tabletop War game and is now the most successful and well known of its kind in the world. It has a LOT of books set in it including the fantastic Gaunt's Ghosts series and the New York Times Bestseller Horus Heresy series. As for games you wouldn't go wrong with the RTS game Dawn of War and its expansions & Dawn of War II and its expansions. Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine on the other hand is an underrated 3rd person shooter/hack'n'slash.
Mendez was brought back in to train the Spartan IIIs as well. A Spartan-II, Kurt-051, was apparently "killed in action," but brought in to help run the training facility and worked with Sgt. Mendez in designing an even tougher and more effective training regime than the Spartan IIs had. He managed the place, with oversight by ONI. I would agree with you, that the Spartan IVs are like ODSTs in Mjolnir Armor, but I'd add that they also have gene modification and extra, Spartan level training.
I believe they did get ODSTs to enlist into the Spartan IV program. They created an entirely separate branch of the UNSC Defense Force. The ODSTs are a special ops unit, but the Spartans are now an entirely independent branch of the UNSCDF. You can transfer if you meet the requirements (or you might have to be invited, I don't have that information). I'm almost positive they've recruited from both the Marines and ODST, as well as allowing any older Spartans to join.
Spartan IV's are military personal who were fitted for the program. They weren't train since the age of 4 or 5. Plus the new augmentations or w/e don't take as much a toll on the body.
Well, all the things you mentioned at the end are in Halo 4, they're implementing a skill/rank system next month. The only Brute weapon Bungie kept in Reach was the Grav Hammer (which is still in) and 343 brought back the scoped pistol and both the DMR and Battle Rifle. I miss the smg but to be honest it wouldn't work without dual-wielding (like the weak Halo 2 pistol). Bringing back a now useful Assault Rifle fills the gap and it would basically just be a different model for the same gun...
there are elevators on the last level, the maw, but none on the missions in the covenant ship, truth and reconciliation and the mission Keyes. He is referring to the part after you bring pillar of autumn's engines offline, where you get to the elevator to reach the warthogs for the warthog run.
I know he was BSing. I was trying to be polite, and it was possible that recent information that had changed canon had come out and I just didn't know about it. But I know that ODSTs don't start training at age 6, like the Spartan IIs (and IIIs?) did. The Spartan IIs and IIIs are by far the most highly trained fighters the UNSC has ever had. Remember that John has killed multiple ODSTs on accident, and disarmed without killing (which is much harder) more in a demonstration/testing exercise.
I never said the domain could fix her rampancy. It's just that could have got into it somehow and used the covenant AI's self-replication code and pushed alot of data into that one to free up processing. So she can think more clearly(Though the way I say it makes it sound counter-productive, considering the one thing she'd have to stop herself from doing would be to think.).The domain would house information on forerunner Ancillas. Ancillas has very long life spans. Cortana can use that info.
On the other hand, this is MASTER CHIEF. Who cares about rank, he outranks anybody, and he can kick the augmentations out of any spartan who challenges him.
Well these new ones are just your average soldiers just with some upgraded armor. They don't have the training that our old, lovable Spartan 2s did :P But these guys have their own flair as well :)
Ghosts of Onyx stated that the training given to the Spartan IIs was improved upon, and that the training given to the Spartan IIIs was even harder and produced more discipline and teamwork, etc... The program was designed by Kurt-051, later Lt. Commander Kurt Ambrose, and Sgt. Franklin Mendez (the Spartan II's Drill Sergeant) to be harder and make the Spartan IIIs even tougher and more disciplined. I don't know if the Spartan IIIs were given genetic modification, but the IVs were.
Okay to clarify I never played Halo CE campaign before (original not anniversary) but I watched my brother play it, they removed the part after you save keys were you have to protect him, and the part in the Maw or Pillar of Autumn (I forgot which level.) were an elevator comes down for you and on it there is a shade turret and a few grunts and an elite, they still have the grunts and elite there but not the shade.
The Spartans and the ODSTs are actually both based on the Mobile Infantry from Robert Heinlein's "Starship Troopers." As far as I know, that novel was the first modern military science fiction novel to incorporate powered armor. The Mobile Infantry were highly trained troops who wore powered armor with semi-automated weapons and all sorts of fun gadgets, and were deployed from orbit in re-entry capsules, that broke up during re-entry and deposited the Troopers directly onto the battlefield.
Yes, that's true, but if you think about it, the foundations for upgrades are there. She and Chief were planned by the Librarian LONG before they were even born, basicly at the end of the forerunner-flood war. She implanted a geas into the human race. It eventually ended up with halsey, who then made Cortana. The way Cortana was made was different from all the other AI's, thus having a different effect. She was a clone of Halseys living tissue. 343 Guilty spark is clone (kinda) of a human.Chakas
wow, I just read the book again after af few years ... his reflexes under stress are 6 times faster than that of a normal human. Happened on a test field when he had to prove the awesomeness of the Mjolnir Armor for the first time ... he barely got away though, but won as he is used to ^^
SPARTAN-III's are different in that they were mostly war orphans that nobody would miss. The SPARTAN-IV's are augmented in much the same way however they get to wear MJOLNIR GEN2 instead of the usual SPI armour are are recruited from adults in the UNSC Armed Forces. Any surviving II's and III's would have been merged with the IV's after the War.
Space Marines have the Emperor, their power armour, Chainswords (as manly as they sound) and the .75 calibre Godwyn pattern Bolter on theirs as standard. Master Chief for all his awesomeness is always seen using an MA5 series rifle which fires 7.62mm NATO rounds. A comparable weapon from 40k would be the Imperial Guard Lasgun which hits with the force of a .30 cal slugthrower. Anywhere else it would be overpowered but 40k fans nickname it the "flashlight" for its effectiveness.
I know right? Crimson is like, by far THE BEST spartan squad to ever exist at any point in time in any area of the known universe! ...*looks at sr...20...*
Okay, that makes a hell of a lot more sense now. Thanks for the clarification. I do remember that elevator, but I'm sure there was never a turret on it.
He's earned every single medal the UNSC grants to its members accept the POW medal. He's fought and killed thousands of enemies, he's saved the human race a couple of times, he's possibly the most successful Spartan in the history of the program (though he's not the strongest, smartest, or most skilled, he's probably the luckiest). He's the unofficial leader of the Spartan IIs and most of them defer to him, though Frederic-104 outranks him and was considered one of the other natural leaders.
To be a Spartan IV was optional and by choice.People weren't forced like the Spartan II's and III's.The UNSC went back to like it was with Spartan I's and make it a choice.Considering ODST's weren't really friendly with Spartans,it'd be unlikely they get augmented but maybe some did.
Okay no, it was the xbox version on our xbox 360, it was one of the last levels in the game while you were inside the pillar of autumn with the shade turret part. The other one where you have to protect keys is the same level were you have to board the covenant ship with the sniper rifle.
They are basically veteran marines/odsts with slight enhancements to allow them to wear the armour..in essences they are worth as much as a well trained ODST just with better equipment.
Yeah, I commented on that in the previous comment I made. Essentially, the Spartan-IIs have the best performance record of all the Spartan Generations, because they had the most resources poured into them. The Spartan IIIs had better training and augmentations, but there gene profiles were less selective and their armor did not enhance them. The Spartan IVs didn't have the benefit of an entire lifetime of military training to turn them into perfect soldiers, and thus performance suffers...
johnson was epic and he had a great sense of humour, actually even chief had a great sense of humour in the first trilogy thanx to cortana,i know im with the minority here but somehow i really didnt LOVE this halo 4 as i did the original trilogy for several reasons, the original had a rousing epic music score to get me pumped up in a fight, chief and cortana were epic and chief always kept his promise by saving cortana even at the last moment,so i dunno if i will play halo 5 if things dont change
the IIIs are also pretty hardass and discplined due to their legendary trainers like kurt and mendez. they had a pretty tough initiation in ghosts of onyx too
It seems like Fem Shep is alive after all. I knew going full paragon would give me an alternative ending into something more epic! (Sarah's voice actor is also Fem Shep's voice actor)
Who knows. Would certainly be an interesting plot to explore. But I think the flood's purpose is to test the galaxy to see if any of the races can defeat it. If one can, as humans almost did (see Halo 4 terminals) then that race will inherat the mantle of repsonsibility for all other races in the galaxy.
Spartan IVs are just normal soldiers (the best of various existing branches) that got augmented in a manner similar to IIIs so they could use the MJOLNIR armor. So naturally they're not the hardcore stone cold disciplined trained to eat breathe and kill since childhood soldiers the IIs or IIIs were.
Humanity just discovered forerunner tech, and have made headway into innovating likewise tech. It makes sense that a lot of their designs are becoming more futuristic.
Pretty much thought this after having finished the campaign. They left it open a little which considering this as well leads to that possiblity being more likely
Spartan II where started as kids they where indoctrinated with military strategy and disciple from a young age. Spartan III (halo reach) where a cheaper form of the Spartan II (they could be mass produced)... Spartan IVs all held military positions before deciding to become Spartans, they went thru the augmentations and training but did so when they where adults not children.
I think something that people should keep in mind is one of the themes of this game is that the Humans are walking down the path of the Forerunners. They are beginning to reach the same level of technological advancement, and one of the things that the Librarian said she did was give them a predisposition toward creating "battle-skins" "ancillae" etc... the Forerunners gave augmentations similar to that of the Spartans (via "mutation"), plus powered armor and AIs to their entire population.
which made them more effective soldiers as illltubeyou said. but SIII's are still very effective soldiers for both the covenant and even the SII's if they were pitted against each other although the SII's definitely are stronger in terms of physical strength. SIII's were developed to work in wolf packs and had more advanced training than the SII's before they were shipped off to the battlefield. at least that's what ONI was trying to do.
I haven't read Ghosts of Onyx in a while. I don't remember if they said the accelerated puberty was due to genetic modification or the administering of the right hormones at an earlier age. I thought the latter, but I'll look into it. I do remember those words: children with olympic bodies. Other than those you mentioned, I've only read the Forerunner Saga by G. Bear, books one and two. I had a mixed reaction to them, but I thought the information and the back-story it gave were great.
LCDR Ambrose/Kurt-051 promoted him to LTJG in Ghosts of Onyx. He's now the highest ranked, confirmed in-action Spartan II. Spartan IIs were very rarely promoted to officers. Master Chief has more than enough command experience to warrant a position as an officer, but he's just never been promoted. Probably never will, either. We're all too fond of calling him "Master Chief."
Well in Halo 3 I only heard that mainly from Marines but I probably missed the ODST's saying that.As for the Masterchief beating up 3 ODST's came from was in a comic called Halo Helljumper which was canon(don't worry)
Odds are the Librarian made some kind of copy or something of her while John was busy being augmented by the Librarian. The Librarian did say that John's evolution, MJOLNIR armor, and Cortana were the culmination of a "lifetime of planning" though we don't know what she was planning for, most likely the Precusors or w/e, I doubt that she didn't take Cortana's rampancy into account. Plus the Didact survived so it's possible she did as well. A sad, noble death though if she didn't make it. :'(
These Spartan IV's are mass-produced Spartans, as Halsey said in the intro the Spartans are our future as a species. Nothing will ever come close to the Spartan II's. Except for the durability of the Spartan III's.
(cont...) and they needed more Spartans, but the candidates for IIs were too hard to find and too expensive to arm with Mjolnir suits, but they could make the training more difficult and more effective, and give them better augmentations. With the increased numbers and lower quality, cheaper armor, it was much easier to field Spartan IIIs than IIs.
John-117 is just a Master Chief Petty Officer, not Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy. Those are two separate ranks, like General and General of the Army are two separate ranks. In fact, there is another rank, General of the Armies, which only two officers have ever held, and is separate from the other two ranks. MCPO of the Navy is the highest single enlisted member of the Navy, but there are multiple MCPOs. In any case, ANY officer outranks an enlisted member of the military.
well when an unknown forerunner device is screwing with your ship and you don't know what it does....just kick it...
Because it COULD totally be a BOMB or a MINI-COMPOSER.
exactly!!!!
Well, its a risk to be taken.
Exactly!!!
Percussive maintenance
These Spartan IV's are probably just the grunts of the program. I want to see ODST with Spartan grade augmentations and equipment. Helljumper Spartans would be kickass. ODST training is no joke so I'd like to see some Spartan IV's show some efficiency.
I thought a lot of the 4’s were previously ODST
Fire team osiers
DeMarco (The Leader) and Hoya (The Black one) are ODST’s
And Buck becomes a Spartan IV
You play as Buck In Halo 5
Fireteam Majestic are no grunts, they did interesting Feat’s in comics.
Especially DeMarco and Thorne
This is exactly what they are lol. Spartan 4 where previously ODST
These cinematics are so beautiful!
Remember, Spartan II's were taken as kids to be trained for all warfare. Spartan III's were orphans of Covenant war, Spartan IV's are adult soldiers that passed the test to join the program. Spartan II's and III's will always be better than these guys.
john and noble team laughing at virging spartan locke and his buds except buck buck is a cool dude everyone is ok with him
Spartan Thorne in the only fan favorite Spartan IV
"There won't be any program; not like the Spartan-Twos, anyway or the Spartan-Threes, if I can help it. We're back to using consenting adults now, like we did in Project Orion(Spartan I's)"

Spartans from all generations were invited to the SPARTAN-IV program; Orions, Spartan 1.1s, SPARTAN-IIs and SPARTAN-IIIs could be considered SPARTAN-IVs if they joined. There is reason to believe a number of Spartan-IVs are former ODSTs as well, indicated by ingame dialogue.
a lot of ODSTs ended up in the S-IV program
@@EthanThomson Palmer was originally ODST, IIRC
Most of Alpha Nine are Spartan IVs (bar dutch and rookie RIP)
and yeah Palmer was a former ODST turned Spartan
Bring random unknown alien technology onto the ship they said
It would be fun they said.....
They are massive idiots, I said.
shropshirec Nice xD
Hey look! We found a potentially dangerous alien artifact! Lets bring it o our ship and touch it! Lol!
Badass Elite

“Hey, look at this!”
Famous last words. For a scientist this guy was a little stupid.
I love how the infinity has little ships that come out....
ahh vending machine science when your emp device activates just kick it and all will be well
I see Commander Palmer prefers the Fonze approach to equipment repair. *double thumbs up* Ayyyyyy!
Damn this looks just like live action!
I still love that crimson team curb stomp the shit out of everyone
the master chief can take on 200 of them promeathins lol these other Spartans make it look hard
Well if you play as team crimson they are probably the best team of Spartans on the Infinity since you do control them but in universe your actions are mostly canon
Aaron Rowland that’s cause gen 2 Spartans were the real shit
Thank God for Lasky being the new Captain because Del Rio was too damn spineless to fulfill his most fundamental duty: protecting humanity.
Did he get composed? Damn
No, only teleported to the surface.
the lighting, the cloth simulations, the c-g rendering, the real time reflections. 343?
ITS PERFECT.
This is awesome!

That opening fight scene was DEFINITELY not on legendary. Noobs :)
She could tear me apart but the spirit is willing as they say.
Am I the only one who can't watch the Cutscenes on the xbox
Mans was sucked into the forever box
Everyone that watches this video jesus loves you and repent of your sins so you can inherit God's kingdom and get the free gift of eternal life
😌
I love that the game was turned into a show. WHO DOES THAT!? 343 did its thang. Halo #1 gaming franchise of all time

Agreed, she and Thorne seem pretty level headed from the rest of the bunch.
So much better than going through Halo Waypoint.
It is. Just above where you select the spartan op mission. Might just be in the solo menu though. It will saw "Watch Episode"
They're making content for the game, Its supposed to be like a movie but your player fills in the gaps. I think their kicking ass imo

i always love halo and always support it, it remain in my life. keep moving forward halo!
I noticed that too, they were using first names with each other (not standard for military)
Percussive maintenance. Commander Palmer is clearly well versed in the art.

Lasky is a beast. The man got tackled by a spartan and took it like a champ.
We need a Movie of this.
That's how Spartans fix there problems..its never failed them before..Chief would be so proud.
I like how Palmer reminds me of Johnson ^^ He was the best!
there are elevators on the last level, the maw, but none on the missions in the covenant ship, truth and reconciliation and the mission Keyes. He is referring to the part after you bring pillar of autumn's engines offline, where you get to the elevator to reach the warthogs for the warthog run.

Kick It!!! The most primitive way to get anything to turn on or off.
Looks like the scientist has composed himself.
Agreed, I think he is supposed to be a much more flushed out character that will return in the next Halos so they (343) took their time with him.

Agreed, anyone could apply to be a Spartan IV. Granted, they have to exceptionally skilled to pass, but they weren't trained from childhood

thats what I thought at first, but it looked different in the specializations menu. Thank you

didn't know that lol, also the III's were expendable as well because they were also cheaper and easier to "create" so to speak
No the frigates are actually one of the smaller unsc ships. The biggest one before the Infinity were the Phoenix-class colony ships
Ah dude 8th Armored from section 8 are so freaking awesome, i bought the arcade game, Section 8 Prejudice few months ago still love it :D
He's laying on the beach getting a tan after being in that suit for over 5 years. :3
Those frigates make me think of remora fishes that swim along with sharks.
I don't know man. Those Promethean Knights can tear you apart in the Campaign at record time. Yes, I question your word.
Palmer: Alright Doc, it's all yours.
Glassman: *poke*
Humanity just discovered forerunner tech, and have made headway into innovating likewise tech. It makes sense that a lot of their designs are becoming more futuristic.
i only watched 2 eps and i already fucken love it
Pretty much thought this after having finished the campaign.
They can seriously just make a movie out of this already...
But for now, I'm content with this. :)
which made them more effective soldiers as illltubeyou said. but SIII's are still very effective soldiers for both the covenant and even the SII's if they were pitted against each other although the SII's definitely are stronger in terms of physical strength.
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite thing to kick on the Citadel
These Spartan IV's are mass-produced Spartans, as Halsey said in the intro the Spartans are our future as a species.
Nothing will ever come close to the Spartan II's. Except for the durability of the Spartan III's.
man these Spartans look sick!!!
@TheSonicWarrior Yea her true name is actually commander Sarah Shepard
