Rodney, I believe you may be incorrect about Chainrasps being able to "drift" through tiles that already contain 3 Chainrasps. Page 8, column 1, paragraph 2 of the rulebook states: "Chainrasps cannot be placed in, or enter, a tile that has 3 Chainrasps or any Stormcast Eternals in it."
It's been long enough since I shot this, that I don't remember the particulars of that rule, but I'm guessing the video says it that way because I followed up to ask them if "entering" is the same as passing "through" (it could be the rules were unfortunately worded on that point). That's not to say I couldn't have made a mistake, but I work directly with the publisher and they check the video over before it goes live, so that does give me some confidence in the way it's explained here.

Great tutorial. Just picked this up a couple days ago from Barnes & Nobles. Can’t wait to try it this weekend. They really fixed the issues that Lost Patrol had with this version of the game. That game was impossible to beat and a real blood bath for the Marine Scout player.
Agreed! I liked the Lost Patrol system, but the rules were frankly broken, making it impossible for the Lost Patrol to win. This keep it difficult, but not impossible :) Have fun playing!

At around 5:50 where you show the finished map set up that tile with the tight turn that you showed couldn't be placed earlier if it's path ended in a wall now ends in a wall. It's the " top right" tile.
Keep in mind, when it was first placed, as long as it had an open side at that time, that would have been fine. Then after, in the placement of all required tiles, eventually another tile would have HAD to be put beside it, which forced a wall to be put there. Hopefully that makes sense. Let me know if that is unclear.
So, about that "Horrors Abroad" achievement. Does one need to travel for that holiday, or can one get it by notching a win at home during a staycation? If the latter, how far does it have to be? There's a Games Workshop store in Springfield, about 2 hours from here. Would that count? What if the ostensible purpose of the trip were business, but you stayed over an extra day? Could you get the achievement if you won a game on *a* holiday, even if you were not "on holiday"? What if it's a holiday for a religion that you don't practice? So many questions!
Yes, I was interested in covering this one because I had covered Lost Patrol a few years ago, and while I really liked the system, the rules made it impossible for the patrol to win (like, actually impossible), so I was really glad to see them revisit this and add new elements, and rebalance.

I really love this game! I have one question though. When playing the night haunts, is there ever a reason to NOT drift since drifting only takes one action? Seems like drifting essentially replaces a regular move for the chainrasps.

How does this game compare in difficulty to Lost Patrol. I.e. is it still a play two games swapping sides and seeing who does best as the lost patrol (or storm cast in this case) as the Lost Patrol very unlikely to win?
This is certainly more balanced (especially since it was impossible to win as the patrol in Lost Patrol). It's still a challenge for the Stormcasts, but no longer impossible for them to succeed :)
Watch It Played that’s good to hear. I always edited the lost patrol rules so scouts rolled double or even triple the number of dice for attacks. Made it possible to win but still very hard!
Can someone explain the chainrasp actions a little better? they have 3 actions. @15:38 could they have attacked for all 3 actions? or if they attacked once they are done, i.e can't move or attack any more?

Do you just get 3 cards for the whole game or do you redraw at the end of the turn? I have seen it played in videos with restocking the cards each turn which seems to me would make the game play dominated by the cards as opposed to be special events during the game.
@@WatchItPlayed Thanks for the clarification. Going to try some lost patrol tonight where I use the crypt hunter turn order where tiles are revealed at the top of the turn. Should cut down on the placing 3 stealers on the new adjacent tile to kill the scout. I think it might give the game more of a chase feel and maybe the stealer might have to actually move between paths and such.

So, is there a limit to how many times the chainrasp player can use a drift action. That seems a little O.P. if not. Also it is stated that the drift action applies to chainrasps in the tile which the drifting chainrasp started in. So if you had 3 chainrasps on 1 tile, you could move all 3 of them at once with a single action. I will say I learned from this video that you can actually have 2 castigators per tike and not just one. I read the rules and somehow remembered it saying 1 castigator per tike. But after seeing this video, I read it again, it says 2.
Hey Christopher, there is no limits on how often the drift action can be used. I think it helps to go into this game knowing that the chainrasps are, in my opinion, intentionally meant to be OP. The Stormcasts in a dire situation, and should feel under pressure the whole time. I often like to play 2 games back to back, switiching sides with my opponent, and we try to see who can get closest to winning with the Stormcasts.

I posted something similar on BGG, but it seems to me the scale of the mini's is way too big for the tiles in the game. The Stormcast Eternals look like they would get stuck in the narrow passages and have a hard time getting past objects printed the rooms on the tiles. Is this intentional (i.e. is there an ingame reason for it) or is it just a case of big mini's cool?

Is it possible to solo play this game like Gloomhaven Jaw of the Lion? Not easy to gather friend during this pandemic.
You'd have to play both sides, so it wouldn't be ideal in this case, due to the kind of game it is.

Lost Patrol totally plays way better with the reveal step at the top of the turn.

I didn't run into this when playing. The tiles fit 2 Stormcasts, and that's the most you are allowed to have on any 1 tile once the game starts.
Comparisons to Claustrophobia?
