    "I know all the hidden symbols."
    "I don't care, I know them too."

      Hmm true, just like chess or checkers, Wonder why people still buy those...

    • @hoolahooop
      @hoolahooop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could make it pretty easily, but homemade versions are more likely to get scuffed/warn out super fast. Like even the tiniest bend on a card version and that could be very noticeable and make the game not work. The reason you would buy the retail version is the components are supposed to be top notch and allow lots of replay without making the stones noticeable different.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      The reasons people list are good, but you also buy it to support the design and creative efforts of the people behind the game. A lot of games I could just make at home. This is becoming more and more true with 3D printers, etc - but what I couldn't make was "the design", or I would have just designed it myself. This game may seem simple, but that doesn't mean the ideas behind it are something I would ever have thought up, or put the time into to test and get it to this point. I think there's value in that. And yes, the production is quite lovely here as well.

    • @HeroPrinny
      @HeroPrinny 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. You can use 7 cards from a deck of cards to "recreate" the game if you like. But the materials are very high quality.

    I have a question about the boast action that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. How soon can you boast? When you show the action, there are 5 stones placed on the line. Are you allowed to boast as soon as turn 1 or 2? It seems like that would be odd, but maybe you just wouldn't do it because they might "counter-boast" with option 3?

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can boast as soon as you like, but the problem is that if you boast to early and the other player knows what all the stones are, they'll counter boast and win.

    (Fatal Flaw Incoming) I love the design and production, but this will likely have the same issue that "Secrets" had. Each "stone" WILL have tiny manufacturing differences that will be tricky at first to spot, and very easy to spot after a few games and make it completely pointless. Nicks, dings, scratches...etc. Unless these are made in a lab and are faultless (the ones in secrets were a joke), then I see no reason to buy this...even though, again, I love the design.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe this is an important subtlety, to ensure that when you want to make a change to the state of the game, your opponent gets a chance to decide how quickly it happens, so they can absorb what's going on to. If a player could just move the pieces them self, you can probably imagine a situation where someone just swaps 2 pieces quickly without making it clear what they are doing and then their opponent has to stop them and ask what just happened, etc. This removes any of that.
