My Grandfather gave me his when I turned 14. Although it's a Winchester made in 1928.I'm 59 now. As a kid I hated the kick . He said then don't miss. It will goto my Grandson when he can handle it with the words of my Grandfather. "Don't miss and you only have to shot once".
Good for you handing it down. It will mean the world to your grandson, especially as he gets older. A granddaughter may love it too!
Remember He Probably Hunted For Meat ( Food ) During the Depression Money For Bullets Was Difficult To Come By So EVERY SHOT COUNT !!!
My dad always said " all you have to do is make a friend out of recoil". I never really got it until a grew up. Now I get it. I love recoil.
Browning should bring this back. Would fit in their line and bring back classic American made lever actions. I love the wood on yours.
I have this exact same model with a cartridge saddle very similar. My Uncle purchased in 1986 in a little gunshop near Jellico,TN. Before He passed He gave it to me and I will treasure it and the others he gave me.You have great taste in firearms Mr.Hickok. That makes two guns we have in common because I purchased a LWRC in 6.8mmSPC just like yours,lol. I love it. Stay Awesome.

Youre one of my fav's Hickok!!! I have a '86 made in 1892 in 45-90! It kicks ass and I recently won a competition at 200 300 400 and 500 with buckhorn sights! fun fun fun!!!

Saw Hickok shooting 45-70 a while back and wanted to try it , found an H&R Buffalo Classic single shot ( just my speed ) and like it. 300 grain bullet on 15 grains of Trailboss ambles down range at about 1200 FPS. and is very accurate. Working my way up to Marlin lever action loads but like the bullet not in a rush to get there . Enjoy the experience, thats what it`s all about : )

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I inherited one of these from my grand dad a few years back. I wish I knew the stories that gun could tell.
I haven't even ever fired it. I bought a box of soft points thinking I would just sight it in, get one deer with it and retire it forever, well that box is still sealed and I may just be watching this video to live the experience through you. Anyway, I really appreciate the video!
Go shoot that thing!! Guns are made to be shot, it won't hurt it. Have a gunsmith scope it to make sure it can handle being shot though if you're worried.

Yes, Hickok I bought one today. It wasn't cheap. I'll blame you if I don't like it. LOL! Nah, it's a gorgeous Japanese made Browning in 45-70. Hardly could go wrong. Big brother to the model 92.
Hickok, I have 2 Browning 1886's and one Winchester Lightweight 1886. My favorite is the one you're shooting with that 26" octagonal barrel, it does carry some weight! But, it is gorgeous! Thanks for bringing it out.
My dad had a Winchester model 92 and a second generation Colt revolver (originally a gen 1 but traded it for the gen 2 and other goodies long ago.) He used to do quick draw demonstrations when he was younger. Never got to shoot the Colt, but we shot the Winchester many times & I loved it. I want to get my own lever-action rifle, most likely in .30-30 hopefully as close to that model 92 as I can.

Excellent video as usual! A big bore lever action fan I've long admired the '86 and the '95 but I have "a thing" for the '76 and would be hard pressed to choose between the three if I were to run up on good, shootable, examples that I could afford to purchase. Keep up the great work!
