Low and clear with a 10ft 4wt

  • A late spring trip to mid Wales.
The rivers were low and clear, with not quite enough fly life to bring the fish up, late in the day they did start to move though.
And I picked a couple of nice fish on a size 16 Plume tip.
There's a nice tying video of the fly here • Fly Tying Plume Tip | ...
Fished with a 10ft 4wt carbon rod, which makes for a very versatile rod on the larger tributaries and main river.
For more information on fishing the rivers of mid Wales take a look at wyeuskfoundation.org/
For information on the rods and tackle that I make and use in the videos www.bannisterrods.co.uk/

Thanks for another peaceful and evocative video. I really admired the sections showing the rising fish and the trout swimming away. Have a great season Luke.

Nice vid. Luke. A beautiful piece of water, clean, clear water and quiet/peaceful with large fish. What else is there? Thank you...Jeremy.

so what is your opinion which is more worthy to buy, 10ft 4wt rod or 8'6 "4 wt rod (winner of 2019 4wt rod shootout using 8'6" 4wt)

Sorry about the delay. I've been away for a few weeks (video to follow...)
The most versatile is probably an 8ft 6in 4wt it would work well on a lot of water.
Although personally I do prefer the 10ft'er I have 8ft and shorter cane rods for the smaller streams.
But the 10ft is a lovely rod to use where there is room.
The line control, lifting and mending of a 10ft is excellent.
