    This build puts my Dauntless 15 to shame. Nice job rigging this Whaler for the big fish.

      I have the Pate fiberglass 15 but I can only use non ethanol fuel. I have two six gallon tempo tanks which fit under the back seat. With 27 gallons I get enough range to get around on the Chesapeake bay. That fuel tank upgrade is a game changer.

    Coming from and islander and a avid Boston Whaler fanatic( I have owned several in my lifetime 86 17 montauk, 84 18 outrage, 97 19 outrage 3, and currently a 86 22 Revenge with offshore bracket). You need a bigger boat just for safety and having additional brothers to fish with comfortably. My recommendation to you is a 19 foot outrage 3 with a 150 4 stroke onboard. Tight lines and you ever in california in the bay area give me a call and your welcome to fish with me on my revenge anytime. Aloha and mahalo for your time.

      Mahalos my braddah! I actually picked up a bigger boat, been feeling the need to be a little safer and to take some braddahs along. Haven't been posting videos of me fishing that boat because not as interesting to me to see people catching fish with big boat and crew. Do appreciate your invite, mahalos and stay safe out there.

    Mahalo for the tour braddah. Nice upgrades!
    Where you mount your outrigger?
    Where you get/who put the seat pole mounts for your 80s, new motor prop, that 24 gal tank?
    Mahalo again for vids!

    • @holoholowithpo
      @holoholowithpo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aloha Uakea, I mount the center outrigger in a rod holder that is mounted on the center part of the grab rail on the console. The outrigger is about 14 feet long and fiberglass so its pretty light and the rod holder seems to be holding up well.

    • @holoholowithpo
      @holoholowithpo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found the seat pole mounts on CL, they were actually outrigger mounts I cut them to fit the area that the back rest were mounted and made some backing plates as well as drilled some holes to mount them. I was going to have them custom made but it was very expensive, the ones I have cost $100 each. If I didn't get lucky finding something on CL I was going to buy the compression rod holder (like the one I use for the center rod) and then fabricate mounting plates. I bought the prop from Amazon and the gas tank from West Marine. If you are planning to change the prop I don't think you need a new gas tank depending on what type of activity you are planning to do and for how long. I changed the tank first then a few months later I changed the prop. I wished I changed the prop first then I wouldn't have changed the tank and I would have more space under the seat for storage. Just my opinion.

    Po where did you get the storage lids that you put on each side of your live well? I really like that and want to copy it. How did you know that there would be sufficient room to cut into the live well? Maholo! Update question. How did you fit that 22 Gal Moller gas tank under you seat? I was told that it will not fit. Did you cut the curves to allow it to slide in? Could you have removed the seat and lowered it down over the tank or would the curves stop that? Please let me know.

    Nice boat. I was planning on getting the same fuel tank. I have a 2014 170 montauk and the fuel filter is mounted under the seat. Did you have to move the filter to a new mounting spot to fit the tank? the two 6 gallon tanks is not cutting it. the small tanks shortens my fishing day.

    • @holoholowithpo
      @holoholowithpo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There was no fuel filter under the seat, the hose that came out of the hull to the gas tank only had a fuel demand valve, which I did not move, basically I just reattached the end of the hose to the new tank.

    Great looking setup bro! I fish blue water here in Costa Rica on a tiny inflatable, but just upgraded to a Dauntless 14. Getting it rigged up now! How does that Montauk handle the swell and chop? You had it out in any nasty conditions yet?

    • @thefishrustler3893
      @thefishrustler3893 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One other thing, be careful with that Fell Marine kill switch. I installed that system on my RIB and it was great when it worked, but I went through 3 of the FOBs in 4 months. They are cheaply made. One of mine leaked and the other two just fell apart and stopped working. After the third one failed (after only 2 weeks of use) I disconnected the system and went back to kill cord. I liked the idea but didn’t trust it after all the problems. Tight lines! 🤙🏼

    • @holoholowithpo
      @holoholowithpo  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Montauk isn't the smoothest on the swells and chops. I usually go out on nice days, but have been caught is some rough water, it will handle just not comfortable. Good luck with rigging up your Dauntless. 🤙

      I found it on Craigslist and modified it to fit. It was probably a custom made item for the previous owner. You may be able to buy a perko or lees rod flush mount rod holder and make a metal plate to mount it to and then mount the metal plate to the seat.
