Last week I purchased a Blazing Blizzard from a local breeder, he's my first gecko and overall I think I can thank you for my decision to get him. His enclosure is definitely going to need some upgrades but I think Leonidas is happy at his new home
It looks great! As a finishing touch I would just add a 'branchy' driftwood to fill up the empty space in the middle. It would really go well with the red rocks to give off a desert/canyon vibe :)
Geckos tend to poop in higher areas more when kept in smaller enclosures, presumably due to being unable to find a spot they consider far enough from their primary hides otherwise.
The point was and is, they wish to go in the furthest point from their main hides. If this is a high point it will be there, if it not logic dictates that be a corner in standard shape enclosures.
Love this build, the leaning rocks mimic formations I've seen in the wild. Also, my Loki ALWAYS picks the highest vantage point to establish his poop spot in every redesign I do.
It looks great! I personally really like the different coloured rocks. The light rocks really stand out, the dark slate creates contrast and the red rocks add a pop of colour. Just my opinion ☺
I had a red light for 4 months and I kinda feel like and idiot....but I’ve had this gecko for four years and I have switched his light almost every year and now I’m sticking with one, I also had sand at one point....for and hour if that counts and I removed immediately, now I have a crested and leopard gecko named Carl “walking dead” so thank you so much for showing me the way ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Rebecca, Gizmo certainly liked exploring her new setup :o) I like the colour scheme. I am glad to hear that some of your geckos like to poo from high up. I was worried my Leo was not going till I moved the bark to spot clean and found hidden treasure lol. After surruptitiously watching My Leo I found out what he was doing. A couple of weeks or so after I got him settled in I observed Him climb to the highest point on his cork bark to do his business with his bum over the edge between the cork and the background. I thought it was odd.... but He seemed happy with the arrangement lol. He also likes to rearrange the substrate and will moved it in the night until he has made a cosy bed by shovelling it with his back legs along his viv and into his warm hide. I often sit up late and watch him and my Cresties by the dimmest of light to see what they get up to :0)
What substrate are you using in your new setup? I have got my Leo's on eco Earth but want to mix this up a bit now as they have been on it for a few years. Thanks.
Rodrigo Levi Avila 40-55% is fine. You need a digital hygrometer. Ceramic heat emitters help lower humidity. For future reference I would buy the dry bag
Angie it should be underneath the enclosure unless it’s wooden. Overhead heating (such as a deep heat projector) is much more beneficial. Just be sure to always use a thermostat
I just got it in a local reptile shop (the new branches that I added in my previous video). Usually you can find branches and cork, things like that in good reptile stores :)

Hey Leopard Gecko (and anyone else who may know) I was wondering if you think the All Living Things Heat mat can be put underneath substrate like yours? I did it thinking it would be okay and now I’m worried it could overheat or harm my gecko in some way. I’ve heard of a few people who did this for years and nothing happened but I’m worried about it. I ordered a thermostat and it’s coming in on Monday. My terrarium resembles yours, but mines a 30 gallon glass, with wood around the bottom of the tank for decoration purposes. If I needed to put the mat on the bottom of the tank for sure I will be making a hole on the bottom of the wood big enough for air flow. Also I have 1 centimeter of Bio Dudes Terra Saharra covering the heat mat, and a humid hide as well. Thanks for any input! :)
I can’t wait till Christmas where I will (hopefully) get a bigger tank for my leopard gecko. I bought a ten gallon for my leopard gecko because a lot of sites said 10 gallons were good. But after a month I’m convinced it’s too small. But I can’t afford a bigger tank rn (the only free money I have right now is put aside for emergency vet visits and food and things like that)

Fluffy Unicorn feed daily at the age. As many as they’ll eat in fifteen minutes. Make sure their water dish is always full. Give them a humid hide and keep the tank humidity at 40-55%, measured by a digital hygrometer.

Born Survivor she’s using Arcadia earth mix arid. You could make your own bioactive substrate. Are your geckos housed together?
