    I have a hack. So when leopard geckos go to the bathroom in the same spot you can just fold up a Kleenex and put it where the bathroom is. I usually wet the folded Kleenex in the cage so the Kleenex doesn’t stick up. Now you only have to take out the waste once a week instead of all the bedding. I also heard you could put a few drops of coconut oil on the Kleenex to encourage it to go to the bathroom there.

      I also do something like this, I just have my paper towel underneath it and I extend it over the substrate in the area she usually goes to the bathroom

      I purchased little Gecko Litter trays on Etsy, and both my Geckos use them☺️🥰 it makes it so easy to keep their tank clean. Its a little 3D printed plastic square with a low rim, and they use it as a toilet everytime🙈💩 such good boys

    If you have a flat feeding stone/dish then you can place Dubia roachs on their backs and they find it very hard to turn back over - their wriggling will quickly draw your gecko's attention.

    • @antizombie196
      @antizombie196 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello,
      At what size can gecko eat Dubia roachs? They seem to be too large for my gecko which is about 5 weeks old.
      Thank you.

    • @Lusewing
      @Lusewing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You can buy them as nymphs online and they are a great size for a baby. My boy has been on them and mealworms since he was 13g (he now weighs 40g) and he loves them. Dubias grow slowly so its fine to buy a big batch of babies as they will pretty much grow with the Gecko in size. Follow Rebecca's tip of making sure the roach is not bigger then the gap between your Gecko's eyes and you will do fine - they are nice and soft so so easy to munch on. In the last month I've gotten hold of some adults and have started breeding my own Dubias (just a small colony). Really easy to look after and feed, they just need a little extra warmth.

    Great video! I absolutely love leopard geckos. Best beginner reptile hands down! My 1st reptile was a leopard gecko I got for my 4th birthday. I still have her 23 years later! Shes probably the most basic reptile in my collection, but she will always be one of my favorites. Shes quite the trooper! Shes 23 and showing no signs of slowing down. She can still hunt her own crickets!

    I got my little leo November of last year, she started out as a friend and now she is my emotional support animal. Since I'm allergic to fur, she is my best bet at having a support animal. I'm so happy with her, I'll just walk around the house with her on my shoulders when I'm feeling depressed or anxious. She really calms me down with the feeling of her weight and just her movements, because when she is on me I know I need to be grounded to keep her safe. Of course I dont have her out all the time.

    • @kataratify
      @kataratify 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The kritter keepers come in different sizes....(I agree though the black cricket keeper w/the tube etc is a bit too small). I have 2 kritter keepers that my crickets go into, one is a med size and the other is large. The medium sized one was around $5 (US) and the large was maybe $7?

    Thank you so much for this video because I've been struggling to get supplements on my crickets. I've been using the tubes they live in and pouring the supplement in there, but sometimes I pour a little too much and when I put the tube back in the cricket cage it would make a mess and I would have to clean the cage and it was just a real mess. So thank you😁

    You can also try transparent glass tealights as a bowl. That makes them see the worm and glass is so smooth that mealworms do not escape.

      Leopard Gecko believe me one did try and I was having none of it, after checking her tank whilst cleaning there were no mealworms that had escaped apart from the one I lost with the tongs 😂😂😂 so that bowl is doing well for now. I’m hoping to get another leo so the food doesn’t die off or pupate too quick before feeding, with this heat the feeders have been a pain

    Those shelves for Mealworm farms work great for food dishes. The food will wonder around them and since they are clear your gecko will see it. The walls are too big for the food to escape (besides crickets because they can jump) but are short enough that juvinile to adult geckos can easily climb in and out. It gives the gecko the chance to hunt but also contains the food from hiding or burrowing. Just make sure your gecko knows the concept of walking over the top so it's not just ramming it's face over the side.

    So, my leopard gecko Rango is still a baby and lately he hasn't been eating, his tail got VERY small and he's lost weight. So we gave him a bath and he pooped. And today we finally gave him a live mealworm, he took it in his mouth but he's not eating it, he's kind of just holding it and were not sure why, and I would be so very grateful if we could have some tips or even a simple reason as to why he's doing this

  • @lincarr3793

    Hello Rebecca, I use the cup hack for my butterfly agamas and veiled chameleon. It's one way of getting the greens in my chameleon my reptile vet wanted him to have. I put his meal worms in with them and he has no choice but to eat the veggies too.
    I did the same thing with his first horn worm. Boy was he mad at me. He attacked the cup before he ate the horn worm. Sure was glad that wasn't me he bit!.
    As for the horn worms I thought all reptiles loved them. The only one that attacks them is my one leopard gecko Miss Spot. Mr.Andy is afraid of them like he used to be afraid of crunchy crickets. The crunchy crickets would chase him. Not kidding here. Funny but so sad. Lol..My crested gecko, Skittles licked it and walked away.
    I think I have spoiled babies. Bought the wax worms will try them next. If they don't like them I guess I will be saving money.
    God bless you and yours,Lin

      Fiona Shepley ok. I don't have geckos anymore, and this was for worms which you don't typically want to let out on substrate. I was letting other people know that their gecko might figure it out if they have a higher vantage point.

    some food the supplements don't stick to as well, if you do a light spray of water on the insects before you dust them you get a better dust coverage.

    My gecko won’t use a bowl either, but I put a small piece of slate down (like a plate) so the mealworms can’t burrow into the substrate during feeding time! It works great since my gecko can see the worms on a flat surface

    If you get a new baby leopard gecko and your worried about it not eating dip your finger tip in the calcium powder lightly n put your finger by the geckos face usually they will lick the powder off your finger and that stimulates them to eat its works for all mine

    Pro tip with mealworms, but something flat like a piece of reptile carpet, and they will climb to its top, so its easier to catch them

    What I do with mealworms, waxworms, etc. is feed him one by one and put it in one spot of the tank and then he chases it down and eats it. Then I put the next somewhere else in the tank and so on. He is a BIG eater and eats anything that moves! So one by one feeding is really quick for me : D

    I let my gecko see the container, open it( she gets so excited), take a worm and show it to her then slowly put it in her feed bowl. She looks in the bowl like a kid in a donut shop ❤️
