Little details like this aren't talked about much for us beginners. Very helpful. Thanks.
This is hands-down the best bonsai pruning video on TH-cam. I’ve been searching for this type of information for weeks and nobody explains it. Hallelujah.
I have learned more in these 10 minutes than I have learned in dozens of other videos I have watched. Thank you!
Best instructional video I have found. Tired of theory...I need how to meat and potatoes. Thanks.
one of the first videos that I have seen that have explained directional pruning clearly and simply. thanks
Very helpful. You told where to cut and why, this was not clear from anyone else. I know understand how to have some control over how it will grow and develop. Thank you.
I’ve been putting off pruning my first Chinese elm because I was scared of messing it up, but this video has helped so much and is very informative! Thank you 👍🏼🌿
Great tutorial, thanks so much, I'm a total beginner after receiving an elm for xmas, it's busy getting hairy - so I'll just let it be, but now feel confident when it's ready to trim!
Definitely the best instructional video channel. Thanks
WOW! When I read in other places or other videos to cut back to 2 sets of leaves no one says make sure there is wood. I've been cutting back green shoots for 5 years. 😊😊😊 THANK YOU THANK YOU
really enjoy the way you explain in detail all your Bonsais
I just bought a small Seiju Chinese elm and it started growing crazily. You're my first bonsai video I've ever watched - thank you so much for making it no nonsense! :)
This video is so helpful in explaining directional pruning; where to cut and not to cut. Mahalo!
Brilliant! very clear and easy to understand instructions. Would love to see more videos like this. Many thanks.
Thanks Sheila! Glad it was helpful. :)
This has helped me loads. I’ve been trying to learn this stuff for years and you have just taught me so much in this short video.
So helpful, all the little details you went over make a difference to us that are just starting out
Awesome video, very helpful as a beginner
Very helpful for the first time Chinese elm bonsai grower. Thanks!
Great video, i dont normally comment on tutorial vids but this deserves a like. Covered most of the questions i have about my new elm. Thanks
I've been pruning my chinese elms incorrectly for years now. I didn't kill them, but wondered why I was having trouble with ramification. I didn't always prune only where there was wood. This was very helpful, very clear.
This is brillant teaching learnt so much, thanks.
Would love to see more videos from you. Great lighting, great method, just awesome stuff!
This is probably the plainest, most essential guide to deciduous in general that I've ever seen and I appreciate it so much. This is elm/beech/zelkova Course 101 on the syllabus. Everyone who wants to prune-and-grow to shape their trees needs to see this.
This has to be the best video I have found on how to cut the chinese elm, I will forward this on to many beginners when they ask thank you
Another great video. Specially for us beginners. I've subscribed. Thank you
Excellent presentation. Very useful tips. It's exactly what i was looking for .Thanks a lot.

Great quality videos mate. I've started about a year ago with a chinese elm and did a lot a research on it. None of these enormously useful tips showed up. Congratulations and you've got yourself a new subscriber
The extra information and reasoning behind the decisions you make are very helpful for the ones of us just starting this journey. Thank you for your videos. They are great.

Jason, Your videos are the best I have seen in the art and science of Bonsai. I am an Eastern Leaf fan .
Had my Elm for quite some time but now I clearly understand the technique for pruning my elm tree. Great video with great instructions. Well done on this certainly subscribed.
Thanks for making this video :) Just got my first teeny tiny 12 inches tall Chinese Elm and today was the first time I needed to prune it. Your simple, logical tips were really helpful.

You do a great job a teaching the right way to care for the bonsai,, thanks 🙌
My daughters just got me my first Bonsai tree for father's day; a Chinese elm. I have no idea what I'm doing, so your videos come in incredibly handy. Thank you ever so much! 🙏🏼😌🌳
How's the tree so far, has it grown?
Hope your Elm is doing well.
No, I'm sorry to report that the bonsai died on me. I'm not cut out for that kind of thing. 😔
@@JensGraikowski Kiss your daughters for they love you very much.
Perhaps try an evergreen bonsai. Junipers are more forgiving.
Enjoy your day.
Thank you ever so much, @@Wedge53! Yes, I am very fortunate with my daughters. One of them bought the exact same bonsai for herself when they bought mine and it died too. 🙄 I'll stick to cooking. 😉
Great tutorial for ramification and directional pruning! Thanks!!
Glad I stumbled across this. Thank you.
Dude, outstanding informational video. Thank you so much
best purning video in every way. especially for the ulmus.
excellent, learned so much, will be looking for your other videos and future ones. i'm ordering a much smaller one with not as much leaves. Hoping to get into bonsai more.
Thanks for this video, I'm waiting for my first Chinese elm, it will arrive in 3 days, and i started to investigate about care and a good life for them, you are very helpful 🙂👍
Excellent video. Thank you for the clear explanations and imagery
I'll admit I haven't looked really hard (yet), but I'd love to see you post a video on how to encourage a Chinese Elm's trunk to thicken. I really like the way you do your presentations, too. You aren't "looking down your nose" at all us amateurs and newbies, you're not snobby or authoritarian. Very down-to-earth, folksy and give the impression you're genuinely trying to be helpful without coming off like you're God's gift to the Bonsai world and you're doing the universe a vast favor by imparting your wisdom and knowledge. Thanks a bunch. I've already downloaded several of your videos for ongoing references to augment my growing library of books!
on any bonsai to thicken the trunk you can plant it in the ground for a while and it will thicken the truck
