I tried both face bar and a cheek head gear in sparring. And as a newbie in boxing, I can say that the facebar head gear is the way to go for protection. I never felt head ache at all using the facebar type head gear, and cheek type head gear on the other hand has lesser protection I felt hard punches during hard sparring and I experienced head aches too with it. So I never used cheek type again.
@@expertboxing I’m a LHW who’s been training for years but this cruiser weight hits harder than most heavyweights. He seems to make noses breakable haha The traditional Cleto Reyes head gear has made every shot better though. I actually wish I woulda upgraded sooner, so it worked out.
I bought the winning cheek guard in large because my head size matched up with the sizing guide on their website, but when I get hit with a big shot I find myself having to adjust it as it will sometimes move around - any tips? I personally wouldn’t. But I know some guys who do, but they also spar in a much more controlled manner. It’s not just about the chin, it’s about not getting cut before your fight.
Hey bro, been watching your videos a lot, have loads of respect for the love and information you share to people like me who wants to learn boxing around the world. Do you know an official site where i can buy the Winning facebar, genuine retailer, this particular model is ? I am asian and I am 5'9 about 135-140lbs , I want a lasting headgear for sparring and protection, I know winning fg5000 is good right but its super expensive and I dont know if Amazon ones are legit tho.... need your help on this, lastly have you tried Fighting Headgear Facesaver?
I’m looking to buy face-saver headgear, but I can’t afford the Winning model. What is the best facesaver other than Winning? (Or at least the best one below their price points?)
@@expertboxing I checked that out online, but I wasn’t sure since it was dated 2017. It looked like the Title one was the next best bet, but I wanted to double-check. Also, the Title one is unsized, which I wasn’t sure if that was the case back then or if Title had changed that model at all
@@ryanhill7461 It's such a disadvantage to fight with a euro-nose. We had a russian guy who broke his nose EVERY DAY in sparring. Not a single day where it didn't re-break.
@expertboxing 500 dollars more, and I'll have that expensive ass head gear lol. I guess I gotta pay the price to look handsome. Ladies love my European nose. I try to save my face for fight night
Looking like Pacquiao ! Haha
Hahaha, hell yeah!
You do a great job explaining! Thank you
Thank you.
This is exactly what i was looking for
I used to spar in those D30 Rival headgear. Very protective but it felt so bulky on my head and shoulders, I prefer sleeker lighter headgear.
Yeah I know what you mean. My d3o felt like I was wearing a box, too.
I chose the facebar, before the seeing this video, now I am feeling both grateful and proud. Thank you and have a nice day!
Glad you found something to help you decide. Let us know how it turns out.
Good breakdown
Literally was looking at videos for this as you uploaded it
Awesome, check this one too! th-cam.com/video/PffO8Kej1Dw/w-d-xo.html

Awesome. Glad it helped!
Dude I've been following you for last 6 years. Thanks for all the stuff you've taught me. Btw, you're getting that
Mr. Miyagi look, lol.
Hahaha, thanks Batman!
It's been long overdue! Thanks Johnny!
Hahaha, I know right? I should have done this like 10 years ago!
Awesome stuff

from a fight equipment store. this model used to be common everywhere. i’m not sure nowadays.
Good videos man!
Thank u for this it helps me out
Awesome. I'm glad.
Please uploaded the helmet sizing guide!
That's coming up tomorrow!!!!
You see it??? th-cam.com/video/PffO8Kej1Dw/w-d-xo.html
Could you please share the name of your Everlast headgear?
It's the official USA amateur boxing one.
Very useful. Thak you very much!
Thanks. Very informative video!
thank you!
I had the Japanese style R2C but a bigger guy broke my nose. Now I’m gonna get one with the face bar..
If you have a breakable nose, you should always use facebar!

Is my headgear supossed to be large and bulky or should i get a smaller size?
Wrap a paint can in as much bubble wrap as you want but shake it and the ball inside will still rattle tho
Your point being?

FG-2900 cheekguard model^^
Headgear should be mandatory for all boxers
Do you have XXXL Head gear with cheek protection? My grandson is a big boy and XXL does not fit. If you do not, do you know who does sell XXXL?
I feel Grant and/or Title would have big size headgear.
Is it ever a good idea to spar with competition headgear on a daily basis?
I personally wouldn’t. But I know some guys who do, but they also spar in a much more controlled manner.
It’s not just about the chin, it’s about not getting cut before your fight.
You mean that's why I still 'feel' my (European) nose from last sparring - cheeks headgear! I thought I just need to improve my defense. :))
haahhaha
The tip of my nose points up, should I get the Face bar ?
You decide that, not me.
Johnny, another great video. Thank you!
thank you!
Thank you this video was informative
You're welcome
Btw, any cheaper headgear with facebars that you can recommend?
Rival? Probably Reyes as well.
Cool. Reyes looks good. Might go with those. That $400+ price tag on that Winning headgear is too Gucci for me lol. Thanks, man!
I have a big nose so i definitly need the bar head gear
Oh yeah, big breakable nose absolutely needs a facebar headgear!

What's the name of the bar headgear you showed bro?

Hey what product are you using for that cool hair? :D
hahaha
actually I see most of the pros with winning chinguards
zero surprise at all!
First timer here, after all these videos still not sure what to get.... Don't they make one with just two eye holes 😂
hahaha follow my guides! a 2-eyehole one is a terrible idea. poor vision especially during head movement
It be better if you said ‘if you’re a ROUND EYE’ your nose can be broken easily. LOL!!!
I'm a black dude who's 40% white and my nose is European AF I need a bar
hahahaha i’m sorry for your pain
@expertboxing yeah bro just left training and my white man beak got touched smh
