It's all about the set up. You've gotta make sure before the first punch is thrown, everyone involved knows it's 'light sparring' then just fucking unload on the guy.

What I like about Shane's videos is that he gets straight to the point ... no corny intro, no unfunny comedic remarks and laughter in between, no annoying commercial. Just no-nonsense .... imagine if he had ALL of those things included, which is the case with some TH-camrs, then there's now way that I would watch all his videos.

I forget the name of the boxer, but he had a weird stance. He had a decent career and he laid right fore arm on his left forearm and pointed his left elbow out.
Almost like he was going to plow through your guard/offense with his elbow.
He had success because it was such a rare stance but it made his jab awkward and his right hand less powerful.

I use it to to keep something in someone's face at all times, easy guard testing, fast up jabs, and good energy conservation. The only thing u guys left off about the philly shell or grand rapids roll is.... Your right hand has to cover two spots (orthodox). The right side of the face but it also has to go to the front of the face/chin to party and block jabs and potentially other shots (With an open palm facing the opponant). If u leave your right hand on the right side of the face u will eventually get caught by easily blocked punches. That's all great video 🔥🔥🔥

It isn't for people who study boxing. It was extraordinary. In fact, I think Tyson is the only fighter that I can think of who almost NEVER improvised in the ring. Cus and Rooney had given him the keys and formula for all of the actions and reactions of opponents that he didn't have to deviate. His training footwork and movement looks EXACTLY like his fight footage. Amazing.

Philly shell is all in the feet when blocking a left hook or rolling a right cross don’t over turn with the blocks otherwise they can bait and create a gap in between the left hook right hand or right hand left hook

  • @rvrrb
    @rvrrb 5 ปีที่แล้ว

When you juve and jive you drop your hands. When you set up you raise your hands. Ali would hold his lead hand down so he could slap the jaw or straight jab. The other hand protects the jaw. George foreman used a cross arm block so he could wade into his opponent and throw straight power shots. When in a fight a fighter has to have one hand in front of his mouth at all times. A punch in the mouth is a knock out.

Number 3 is just having an active guard (control you opponent with feints and lead hand control). You should have an active in stance number 1 and 4

Where the peek a boo style had a con at is it put more strain on the ribs or hips versues the legs so if your using the peek a boo style versues some one who is hard to overwhelm being aggressive your just tiring your ribs and legs out with more movement than youll need

A lot of boxers dont recommend mayweather’s guard because is hard and risky.
So better start whit a regular and ortodox guard for your safety

I like to use the Mexican style at the start to find my range and jab. Then when I'm comfortable and want to be aggressive I change to peekaboo. That's the most effective to me

Bruce Lee was really ahead of his time. In his book THE TAO OF JEET KUNE DO
Bruce demonstrates the Philly shell as his guard stance of choice.
I might add the kick boxing champ SUPERFOOT WALLACE fought out of the same stance.

michaellevin92 It would work provided you know when to switch, and not switching for the sake of switching, rather with intent behind the switch. It’s been very effective for me in sparring so far.

2:16 that is Mexican style kinda in a way. It was developed in Mexico and is used by J M Marquez finito lopez and Salvador Sanchez its similar to the Phili shell only the lead hand is loos and wondering fighters using this still have to learn how to develop power with the left and how to instantly turn it into a hook an upper or a jab this's were the famous left hook developed because of how fuedly any wondering hand would turn into a hook. I know most people like to think Mexican style is just moving forward with no de but true Mexican style keeps his opponents preoccupied with the left as he gathers points and then hurts you with that straight right. A good example of perfect uses of this style look at barrera vs prince nassim, eric Morales vs Pacquiao 1. Both fighters outsmarted and out punched their opponents with the lead hand and would force their opponents to choose getting tapped with the left or getting hurt with a straight
