One big reason people need to develop their own relationship with Christ and not rely on others. When I song these 2 songs that you mentioned, I song them with all my heart. I wanted to be right with the LORD and I wanted more faith-oceans. You know sometimes we don't think that the anointing on our lives will come through trials, test, temptations do I need to say more. You get to know the FATHER through HIS SON even more this way of who HE is. Not just hearing someone else's experiences but your own experiences personally of who the LORD is in your life. Even as a purifier or anything that you need HIM to be.
True story: Our heavenly Father says that we will give account of every word that we say. That means even if we are saying them through song. That maverick city song was the song that I sang repeatedly throughout last year. Then, the fire (furnace of adversity) turned on. After the smoke cleared, I reflected back and realized just what it was that I was asking for. We must be mindful of the things that we utter because we will be required to fulfill the things that we have said.

It’s an analogy. It’s analogous to refining gold. When gold is placed into a fire, it is dense so the impurities come to the surface and can be scraped off, leaving behind pure gold. It’s the same for us. We may go through a trial and it’s God’s way of refining us, getting rid of all the impurities and bringing us closer to Him. Nothing at all dangerous about this.

I liked it a lot but did not fully grasp the meaning until a real trial came when my mom passed away suddenly and later that same year someone near and dear to me attempted suicide. Go to the cross, even when it costs us, and we're anxious, and our friends are sleeping instead of praying, and our closest people are betraying us, and we're being persecuted, and we're uncomfortable, and it hurts, and we really wish the "cup" of suffering would pass from us... sorry, got a little caught up ministering to myself lol
