Are you guys liking all of the lens reviews and b-roll sequences lately? Or should I just stick to rigging out every camera on planet earth. Lemme know below! 👇😂
Oh Wooh they recently added EF mount to their lineup finally. I know they had lots of requests. They were only MFT mount so I thought you were on a BMPCC 46. What a pleasant surprise!
Yep, they finally made EF mount zoom lenses! They've also made a lineup of EF prime lenses. It's so nice to see many companies making more affordable cinema lenses. I don't think I'll ever shot MFT, the sensor is just too small for the look I wanna get. Thanks for watching!
Chadwin, love your vids! Please, could you tell more about your BMPCC6K setup and workflow? How many SSDs and batteries do you use per shift? How is your data storage organized? Is Nucleus Nano prior to a non-electrical FF, if you use it just on a camera? Thank you, as always! P.S. moved from X-T3 to A7C, but still shooting in APS-C mode. Do you have any "approved" EF-E adapters in mind?
Hey thanks man! Yeah, I've made a couple of different videos breaking down my Pocket 6k rigs, but here's one of my more recent ones: th-cam.com/video/FUxZ6JeW_6g/w-d-xo.html I only use one Samsung T5 1TB SSD and it's always been enough space for my shoots. I typically use 1 v-mount battery with the Pocket 6k and it will last the entire shoot. If it's a really long day, I may swap to a second v-mount battery. Hmm..I'll have to make a separate vid on file structure or something. I use the nucleus nano when I want to have the advantage of a follow focus on a gimbal, remote focus puller, or sometimes when I just don't wanna pull manually, But Usually I'm just pulling focus manually by hand.
@@OG_predatorproductionz PL, but the rear mount can be swapped to EF. these lenses however, can be made for the low price that they are due to them having a lower flange distance than other PL lenses. so they can definitely be mounted on a P6K, or a P4K without speedbooster, but simply an adapter from m3/4 to EF or M3\4 to PL (though this does mean you get the full M3/4 crop)
Thanks for bringing these lenses to my attention. The price is defininity right. And I think you are correct to point out the value of not having to switch from one prime to another, especially if you are shooting in a dirty environment as often a documentary filmmaker would be doing. Also unless one is shooting in extremely low light conditions, focal lengths of 1.4, 1.9 don't really suit the nature of "run and gun," follow the action, kind of shooting. I'll be interested in hearing more about these DZO cine lenses, should you choose to buy them. Great video!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, you're definitely right, the super shallow depth of field 1.4, 1.8 etc. really only works well when you're locked off on a tripod or something. Otherwise, it's very difficult to keep the subject sharp and in focus when you're running and gunning! I'll be making more videos with them in the future and keep ya'll updated as I do.
Nice!! I really like the 20-55, it basically covers all the most standard focal lengths that I use. The 50-125 looks great also, but will definitely get less use. I rarely ever touch my 70-200mm I’ve had for years.
@@chadwin true, same here.I will definitely take my time and see that I really need the 50-125 before making the move. For now am good. Keep up the good work bro, always great content.
Chad, Question. I have the DZO 20-70mm and love it for studio work. I have to do some location shooting soon and in my first tests it was difficult to maintain focus while tracking a speaker walking back and forth on stage. Is there a way to set the focus (like infinite) to maintain focus while the speaker is moving around? Looks like we're both in AZ. If you made a video on this it would probably get some hits. It might be the only video on this topic. Thanks.
Damn u have the same problem as me. The nano foliow focus has the lens flexibg snd clicking up and downa and moves the lens. Have u found a solultion when i use the smallrig lens support it bascically makes the follow focus not work cuz its like reaching for the ring smh
Yes you can you just need a Canon EF to Sony E mount lens adapter. you can find them cheap on amazon around $20 geni.us/CheapAdapter this video should help th-cam.com/video/l6G_ggzXJRU/w-d-xo.html
I would be interested what you guys think are some cons of the dzo pictor zooms? Not asking about general cons of zoom lenses (bigger, less sharpness, less aputure), but cons, that especially come with the dzos. Thanks

Is T2.8 good enough for low light filming (on a Pocket 6k sensor)? That's the one thing making me consider DZOFilm Vespid primes. (Which still aren't the fastest I guess, but better.) Maybe I'm too worried about grainy color noise, but that's the reason I got a Pocket 6k even with all its annoying little quirks. Beautiful, professional image quality with basically no distracting noise in low light for a great price. It would be a shame to limit my Pocket 6k too much with a slow lens, but there are so many advantages to these zooms, and I like the not-overly-sharp look too... Hmm... I guess I just won't shoot any spooky low light scenes??
Yeah, that's a tough one. I'd say that T2.8 is typically good enough for lowlight work, I've done a ton of shoots at 2.8 at night. Getting more light at t1.4 or t1.8 is of course a nice advantage of primes! But....from my personal experience, no matter what I do I still get grain and even some colored grain in very low light situations with the Pocket 6k, even when I'm shooting wide open at T1.5....Typically I can crush the blacks in the grade though and hide the grain. The only camera I've ever had really great lowlight results with is still the entire Sony a7s line up.
@@chadwin Thanks for the input, really helps. I'm still very much a beginner, so any time saved not having to swap lenses will probably be more valuable than an occasional slight grain advantage. Probably. And like you said, there are options in post... plus I may even be a terrible human being and add a bit of "film grain" anyway, so... haha. I'll probably keep browsing and doing my lens homework for another month or two, but I have a feeling I'll be coming back to these Pictor zooms... hopefully with a sale. Any videos you do on them (and related lenses-just watched your video on the Tokina 11-20 zoom) are appreciated! And yeah, there are other cameras I'd like to try someday. :)
1:02 yeah, but then you have to contend with bad chromatic aberration and too much character. I own a set and found the lenses interpreting color too much - especially on my Alexa. You don’t want that in a lens. You want balanced lenses that don’t re-interpret the color from a badass sensor. Also, that “gentle sharpness” is bs...it’s just too soft and creamy IMO.
yeah, there are absolutely trade offs with these lenses. the price is pretty good and quality is decent but by no means are they perfect. i actually like the softness when filming people, but whenever I filmed gear and tech with them it just looked funny and not sharp enough. I totally get your point of view here!
Almost? I could pay for my film school four times over for $78.000. And there are four departments so I could literally study everything they have to offer for that amount of money.
It's like buying the cheapest sports car, the best general purpose car will be better, and that's why Canon L lenses are better than this, and also cheaper and much lighter.

I need that 50-125 asap! Will have a speedbooster with mine so I should be down to like a 1.2.
nice, it's a great lens! yeah, using it with a speedbooster on the pocket 4k should help get more light.
They can NOT be used on speedboosters. The rear element is too far back

sorry I forgot to link and now when i search for it, it's gone. contact DZO direct tho, they should be able to help
Can you use the lenses with a speed booster on the pocket 4K??
Have any footage shot on this combo??
I feel like in general there is a ton of green and red chromatic aberration. If you look at the edges of things, it's either got green or red lines.
Ik those lenses are 86mm threads and the polar pro matter box has different threads which did you use to connect/clamp it to?
You don’t actually need any threads because the matte box clamps to the outside of the lens that is 95mm diameter. 👍
Great video. Thanks.
How did you adapt the DZO to the Fuji XT-4?
I just used this basic adapter. geni.us/XtoEF
Excellent review!! great recomendation with the tokina. how is the color difference cutting between tokina and dzo?
hey thanks! You know what, the color between tokina and pictor zooms actually matches pretty well. its not a drastic difference.
It's very interesting lens, thank you!!!
Yeah, it really is! So happy to see companies making “cheaper” cine lenses for us.
Do you have issues getting this to lock on the poker 6K EF mount. B&H warned me of that today so now I’m hesitant to buy them.
nope, zero issues. the lenses lock in fine and are solid. adding a lens support on rails would obv help stabilize it even more tho.
Are they the same Focal length for the Fuji or they are designed for full frame and therefore, we have to Multiply the vocal length?
the lenses cover Super 35, crop, APS-C sensors so they'll work with Fuji fine! Any crop sensor camera will work with them, not full frame.
