hey question for smt not covered in this video - how do I make sure i don't drill through the cabinet with the pilot hole? My cabinet side happens to be the side of the island so it'll be visible if i drill too deep lol. First timer here! thank you!
u said it might be a good idea to install the slides using just the screws in vertical adjustments for the drawers and the depth adjustments on the slides that go on the cabinet. Can u explain why that is a good idea? Also is that the permanent location the screws should stay? Or is that just the initial location for the screws until u have everything lined up? For example, Should I also add screws into any of the smaller round holes later?
It’s a good idea because you can adjust the height on the drawer separate from the depth on the cabinet to keep your adjustments separate. I would put some screws in the smaller round holes when adjustments are complete.👍😊
Is there any reason that I can not/should not mount the slide to the top of the drawer side as opposed to on the bottom? Im making a hanger board that comes down from above to the top of the drawer and i can use less matterial if I attach to the top of the drawer side.
I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t mount it to the top of the drawer’s side. The manufacturer just recommended installing it in the location that I mentioned.
The first time that you push the slides in, there can be a little resistance. However, if you continue to feel resistance after closing the drawer, and re-opening it, the spacing between the slides could be too far apart or too close together.👍
Because if they are not level then the top of your drawer will either be further in or stick farther out than the bottom depending on which way it is tilted. 👍
@@rutterrealtygc level to what? The floor? What if the cabinet is sitting on a floor that isn’t perfectly level? I can build that cabinet in outter space, where a level won’t matter. Glides must be square/perpendicular to the face frame or front of the cabinet. I’ve built hundreds of cabinets, and the “only” time I use a level is when I’m hanging them. Aside from that, it’s all about being square, one piece to another.
I stopped watching when the disclaimer popped up in 10 seconds. Why post a video on installing drawer slides then say "contact a licensed professional?" A licensed professional is not watching your video. Do you really think you need to say that? Are you a lawyer by day or something?
This measurement will change for your particular application, as it depends on the height at which the slide is on the drawer itself, and how far the face (or front) of the drawer extends beyond the bottom of the drawer. If you are creating an inset drawer like I did, and want to know what height to mount the slide on the furniture, add the gap you want between the face of the drawer and the furniture, how far the face extends beneath the bottom of the drawer, and the distance to the middle of the slide on the drawer itself. Then you will know what height the slide mount will need to be installed on the piece of furniture.
This video is the ONLY that made any sense. Your video was detailed and being able to actually see you install them makes a huge difference.
Awesome! So glad it helped you! Best of luck on your project!
Thank you for your guidance
Glad it helped!👍😊
you are absolutely amazing. i've spent days attempting to separate.
Glad it helped!
Thanks, you saved us from going nuts!!!

Good question! They make drill bit stop sets such as this: www.harborfreight.com/drill-stop-set-7-piece-70457.html
Cheers, very easy to follow!
Awesome! Thanks!
How much clearance do I need from the left and the right side of the drawer to install the side mount ball bearing slides?
You should check with your particular slides, but these were 1/2” on either side of the drawer.
Yes. Drawers should be one inch smaller that the opening width.

@@rutterrealtygc Thanks for your advice. I installed the draw slides the other day and your video was very helpful👍

If my drawers get stuck sliding in what did do wrong??

My drawer is hitting a point and stopping. Idk what I’m doing wrong. About to burn the whole thing lol
😬 Hard to say. Maybe a screw is loose or not all the way screwed in the slide?
TY - please rewrite their instructions
😂
Fantastic video and he's yummy too! I'm subscribing!
Best of luck on your project.
@@rutterrealtygcI feel like you sort of breezed past the yummy part.
What ifno release bit
What? I’m not sure I understand your question.
Why do you care if slides are level? They just need to be square to the front of the cabinet.

You took more time to type this than watching the video.
From the bottom of your cabinet what is the height of your slides?
