You must have made hundreds of people find the confidence to do something they never thought they could. Sure it’s about installing drawer slides, but it makes us feel better about our abilities!
Oh my gosh I can’t thank you enough. You are an absolute star ⭐️ for showing this no nonsense, straight to the point easy to understand demo. I have been asking a couple of joiners to come and fix these types of fully extending draw runners in my dressing room. NOT one of them said they would do them and that it’s not necessary to change them from the normal basic ones I have. I have now done it myself thanks to you. Thank you 👍😊
Echoing the other comments, this video was a lifesaver. I was looking to do the exact same thing - upgrading roller slides to ball bearing slides, albeit in a clothes dresser, not a kitchen cabinet - and it was a fairly complex project. This video was a life saver and much more helpful than others. Quick, easy, and effective method outlined here. Huge thanks!
This video is a lifesaver, no where have I been able to figure out why my rollers won’t close properly until I watched this guy just slide it back and forth a couple of times. Legend.
If people teach it this clearly, we may never need a carpenter for simple tasks like this. Even 5 yr olds or 60 yr olds can understand these instructions. Great video!
Katherine is the most beautiful woman alive in the world right there I love it I love you and I’ll talk about that when I see him in a couple days I’m sure I won’t be too late to call me and tell him I have a lot going .❤😊
Thank you thank you thank you! We were trying to install slides in the middle and couldn't figure out how. Didn't know about the slides being built to allow some error so we kept hesitating about drilling them in. You're the only reason why our cabinets are upright.
This was a very well done video. For me, it was never discussed how wide the drawer was. I tried to put these drawer slides in my face front cabinet and the cabinet is too narrow to accommodate these ball bearing drawer slides and the drawers. I'm not sure if I can find any slides that are slender enough to allow the drawer slides and the drawer width for my particular situation.
Thank you very much. You made this so simple to understand for a beginner like me. I am replacing drawer slides on an existing file cabinet. I'm crossing fingers I don't get these crooked and mess this up and have to start over.
Yes you're a SUPERSTAR! I brought 4 IKEA Chests of Drawers. Problem is IKEA drawer hardware is absolute RUBBISH! Unfortunately I have four of these bloody IKEA garbage chests of drawers with FIVE drawers each. That's 20 sets of drawer hardware to replace. The real problem is without the upgraded drawer hardware like you use here the crazy expensive IKEA chest of drawers are flipping unusable. The drawer hardware for IKEA is so flimsy cheap THEY HAVE NO HOPE IN HELL OF WORKING RIGHT EVER! After a bit of hunting I found substantial properly sized drawer hardware similar to the upgrades you use. With exception of differences in drawer guide placement my IKEA installation went without a hitch. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 👍😊
Just the video that i have been looking for......I wanted to install the slides in my old dresser 3 years ago and did not have the confidence to do it when I looked at the measurement and how to approach ......
4:00 when you actually adjust your drawers you'd want to put a screw in the regular holes on 2 ends so it doesn't move down over time, because it certainly will with the weight in there and people sometimes slamming it in (same for the cabinet part if you also used the sloted holes there)
What a great video! I am 71 years young, use all the power tools, have done floor & wall tiling, woodwork,plumbing....you name it! (Female) ...after I fit my new sliders & tweak gaps if necessary, I shall also insert screws into non-slotted holes so as to keep the gaps even, after heavy contents are put back into the drawers. Excellent demo & explanation.....just talk a bit slower please! 🤣😁
Life saver!!! Had to assemble my babies compactum and the instructions left out how to attach the drawers to the rail - lmao this really simplified it 🤣my way would’ve broken the rail
Width of the drawer needs to be of a certain dimension to be able to switch to another brand of drawer slide. Make sure you check first before dismantling the old drawer slides
My current cabinet doesn't have slides installed so I'm having to hold the drawer loosely in place. Unfortunately this method seems to only work when you're just replacing old ones.
Good tutorial. However, the cabinets you’re working are European (frameless) models with no face frame. Most American cabinets are face framed, which makes install a tad more complicated.
I think I can do this, however the width of the drawers is a little shorter than the width from side to side. Is there any way to fix this without getting all new drawers? Thanks.
Is it possible to change over from bottom to the side mounts? I’m restoring an old cabinet and one of the bottom slides is broken. So I love how easy this video is and just wondering if it’s possible to change completely
As long as you have the open spaces on the sides of the drawers in the middle as he shows, then you should have no issues converting from bottom mount slides to soft close.
As long as the slide does not hit the back of the cabinet, the slide should work. See how much room you have between the front edge of the drawer carcass and the cabinet back wall. You dont want the slide to strike the back wall or simply be too far forward. If you have more than 20 mm of room, you should be fine.
I.just installed 5 soft close slides. I got them from the local home center. They all seem to be the same or very similar design, so just get the ones with the highest weight rating, 100 lbs. In my case.
2:48. I bent those flexible tabs outwards a little to accommodate the small gap between the cabinet side and the framing of the cabinet. I had about. 06" to make up, which the tabs did easily. Once you install and work the drawer back and forth a couple of times, the tabs get bent back to the proper position. That's a little trick I found by working on a few of these cabinet drawers.
If the old slides are still stable and level, why not just put the new slide on top of the old one and use that as the guide so you can skip all the measuring?
You don't talk about the thickness of the runners. That is the problem.I have replaced in my or modern runners seem to be thicker than a space.I have issued a draw
Not an easy job. Be careful BB draw slides need soecific gaps to the sides to work. When purchasing makes sure you inow the correct gaps on the side required

This is the single EASIEST tutorial on how to do this on the entire TH-cam universe. Perfect.

Your video showed me how to undo the tracks to build my desk, I was struggling for ages!!! Thank you!!!

This video was exactly what I needed. I like a very simple approach, an easy way of marking, where things need to go.

Top video 👍. No waffling straight to the point and easy to follow. Thank you.
One of the BEST videos that made this confusing task so SIMPLE! THANK YOU!!! 👍
Finally, an easy way to replace my broken drawer slides! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much. You made this so simple to understand for a beginner like me. I am replacing drawer slides on an existing file cabinet. I'm crossing fingers I don't get these crooked and mess this up and have to start over.
Amazing tutorial. Thank you so much! Very straight to the point and showing all the details needed for the process.
I thought replacing the slides were easy until i actually started replacing them. Thanks for the input. This was really helpful.

The most shortest and best video for this. I have watched many of them and this is the best.
Best video on TH-cam on this topic. Thank you.

Thanks for not starting the video with a commencement speech.
Very handy little bit of info.
Should now be an easy draws project upgrade.
Thanks dude. 😉
Gee, this is so clear! Such good videos guys!
So well done and enjoyable to listen to. Great hands for demos! Classic carpenter hands and groomed nails. Very nice. Just saying ;)

Great video thanks a lot …regards from the Netherlands 👋
Thank you, thank you and thank you brotha!
This is what I needed to BIY!!
Brilliant, no nonsense guide. Thank you :-)
I love this guy - he's fantastic!
Width of the drawer needs to be of a certain dimension to be able to switch to another brand of drawer slide. Make sure you check first before dismantling the old drawer slides
Yass!! I needed this thank you very helpful !
Great video. Where can I purchase these upgrade slides
The bearing are damaged in my cupboard do I have to buy the complete set

Thank you bro, good tutorial!
incredibly helpful - thanks!
thanks for such a great tutorial!
Simple easy to understand tutorial thank you ever so much xxx
Neat and clean work.
Good tutorial. However, the cabinets you’re working are European (frameless) models with no face frame. Most American cabinets are face framed, which makes install a tad more complicated.

Very helpfull and informative!
What brand drawer slider do you recommend?
Excellent explanation
is is ok to replace drawer slides of ikea pax wardrobe the same way?
Lots of useful info in there, thanks very much

My draw measures 330mm would 350mm runners be ok ? All I can find close enough?

If you have more than 20 mm of room, you should be fine.
Excellent demonstration
Thanks for the tips!
not sure what im doing wrong. my draw gets stuck when pulling open. it also swivels left to right
Is there a drawer glide you could recommend? What is the product being used in the video?
I.just installed 5 soft close slides. I got them from the local home center. They all seem to be the same or very similar design, so just get the ones with the highest weight rating, 100 lbs. In my case.

Why couldn't you use the existing rails as reference?
Do drawer slides have sizes or just standard?
If the old slides are still stable and level, why not just put the new slide on top of the old one and use that as the guide so you can skip all the measuring?
Where can you buy the draw slide?
So does this mean we don't need to buy that $70 Krieg Jig tool for drawers slides?
Yes. That jig is not needed. Just some patience and basic tools as he shows.
You don't talk about the thickness of the runners. That is the problem.I have replaced in my or modern runners seem to be thicker than a space.I have issued a draw
Channel size for 2×2 feet drower ???
Well explained thanks.
Good job thanks
Helpful and practical.
Hi my drawers are 19”
Should I get 18” or 20” slides
Thanks
Probably 18 inch slides. That way you know they will not be longer than the drawer and will fit without hitting the inside of your cabinet.
so helpful. thanksss!
Good but the video was too fast
Measuring that accurately is near impossible.
Great
Thanks for not using a jig! All the other tutorials make use of a jig that you will never use again & that's not sold here in SA
Very cool, thanks!
👍👍
THANK YOU!!!
Brilliant
Wait, how to find the vertical position of the inside mount (inside the cabinet). At 3:15, he just totally skipped this most difficult step.
Thanks a lot
Not an easy job. Be careful BB draw slides need soecific gaps to the sides to work. When purchasing makes sure you inow the correct gaps on the side required
Thanks!!!
I HAVE SAW VIDEOS ON TH-cam LOTS OF PEOPLE DO NOY LIKE SOFT CLOSE< TO MANY PROBLEMS????
Oh really it's very simple 🧐😒
I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
Hope no female in your life, never has to use #metoo. Might just be another joke to someone🤦🏼♀️
