Both are great. It will always depend on where you use it. For track days and highway commuting the S1000RR is much better. But for everyday riders that don't usethe highway that much, the S1000R earlier torque response and cheaper price make it the best option.
very nice vid. the naked bike is not meant to be a competitor of the supersport, It is meant to carry potential customers of other companies to BMW. I think it will be very successful.
I don't think the naked R is any narrower, in fact with wider bars it's probably narrower overall. I did own a single R identical to this one including the exhaust, the larger wind deflector and even the same colour and being 60 at the time I really appreciated the higher bars. I would choose it over anything else available any day.
RR... because it‘s an RR... Really though, it‘s amazing! With tuning you could get 210+ PS on a 1000cc bike... But to be honest, I like the more common, blue and white colors on this beast...
5:30 and the rest of the time they're side by side the "naked" bike doesn't look so naked. The fairing looks pretty much the same and you can't see more motor on the R as opposed to the RR. No bueno.
+Niek Haarman S1000RR would be a sane choice. If would make a mental choice I would advice you to have a look at KTM 1290R Superduke. The torque on that bike makes it hard not to wheelie in 5th gear... That's correct I said 5th gear.
Ive not tried the RR but I have tried other Supersport bikes and the comfort level is low to none existent after 30mins of riding but when i tried the R it was very easy to ride and so comfortable. The front of the bike isn't a beauty for sure but I don't think it's ugly either...It's a bit like looking at a beautiful girl, when she turns her head her profile shows a hooked nose..she is still beautiful. There are very few bikes out there that look great from every angle..F3 and F4 from MV Agusta spring to mind
@DeadHead. Agreed. I owned a single R, set up exactly the same as the one in this clip. I loved the thing, including the few quirky looking bits like the weird headlight setup. I found it comfortable except for one long section of very long, very steep downhill from the mountains behind here down to the coast the weight would get a bit tiresome on my wrists. Everywhere else it was fantastic, although the seat did tend to get uncomfortable to me after a few hundred kilometres, but then I've never ridden a bike that didn't do that to me, just a delicate bum I think.

I had the single R and I couldn't fault it's handling or any of it's riding characteristics, so no, keep it all BMW since it's about as perfect an all round bike as anyone could ever design. I would however love it if they fitted something like an RPG launcher to the front so I could have just blown the idiot in his idiotically jacked up Jeep wagon away that launched out in front of me when I was barely 20 feet from him and took my beautiful bike, identical with the Akropovich end piece plus the larger wind deflector and even the same red as this one, and killed it and I wasn't expected to make it either, I'm still here at least. My main point was that you don't mess with perfection.

I like the naked R version because of the up right seating position and narrow profile so it's easier get around in tight spots.
