So true, I couldnt agree more! Back in 2007 the ex father in law traded his E39 M5 for one of this era RS6. Funnily the M5 vanos failed on track at Donington and a year later the gearbox on the Audi gave up at Oulton Park.
Hello, I'm from Germany, my father was a driving instructor and bought an Audi V8 4.2 in 1994. For inspection you had to take the car to the Audi dealer, who then brought the car to Osnabrück because normal workshops were forbidden to work on the engine of the car. Just by the way, the inspection cost just under 2000 DM back then
I really enjoy your format with the narrator/presenter talking and explaining along side the content like this. You've got a good balance of serious/passionate about cars and the repairs you explain plus you have the easy going, naturally funny guy thing going on too.
For years as a car guy I watched Hoovie, Tavarish, & a lot of other car channels doing up their impossibly expensive foreign cars, but seeing you doing down to earth, cheap & cheerful cars like this Audi, beats any Lambo resto I have seen, you are hillarious, your Sister is delightful...( Is she married? 🤣) your beginnings were a real Rags to middle class story, loved the Range Rover resto, & all the others, wish you all the best, I'm sharing your channel with all the mates.
There is no way an engineering company couldn't have sorted that caliper. They could have removed the helicoil, re-drilled the hole dead centre in a milling machine and either timesert the hole or fit a larger bleed nipple. As you said, always support local firms.
I had a C5 RS6 Avant for years and loved it. It's not uncommon for people buying these cars to think they got an RS6, in your case, for £5k. What you have actually bought is a £60k supercar for £5k and it's associated maintenance costs. Mine had two owners before me and all of us kept an immaculate service history. It was very low milage and mint. It was 15 years old when I sold it on and the Service History total was in excess of £40k in 2018. I'm still in touch with the current owner who has spent well in to 5 figures on maintenance costs to date, so it must be nearing the point where maintenance costs will match the original purchase price. Think about it, it's not that far from an A6 Avant bodied R8. It could outrun a 911 Turbo of the same year.
If I had put all that work in,and now looking so good. Ain't no way I would be giving this away! I would have this car as a show car for the business. Good job done bud.
Great choice peeling off the wrap, it looks amazing. It's such a sexy car, but unfortunately it's also way too expensive to fix, even more so here in South Africa. Awesome job done with the problem of solving the shake. Love watching.👌❤️
Great work Nino. I have loved watching how you have learnt and taught yourself over the course of this and other cars. Great to see the raffle went well. Looking forward to more great content. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
@@HitPoint19Not dumped, soon as you offer your car on our local platforms, Lithuanians call you in the tens with offerings without viewing the car. They send large lorries carrying 10 cars to pick up yours. They take our stuff, we don't dump it there. That's also the reason why you don't see these cars in Germany anymore. My girlfriend owns a B7 RS4 and I can confirm these RS Audis are just an absolute pig to work on. For example I needed to change the front foglight bulbs in it a few weeks ago, a nice quick job to do on a Saturday afternoon I thought...until I had to jack up the car, remove the front wheels and remove the front bumper. A job made even more stressful by the fact this is my girlfriends pride and joy, she loves this car more than me. The paintwork on it is immaculate and the front bumper was actually replaced a couple of years ago, so if I left any marks or scratches on it I'd be a dead man. So yeah, it is not an enjoyable car to work on, but lord does it make a cracking noise when you let the V8 sing round to 8000rpm! Anyway, Nino, love the channel, been watching you since the Mini R53 days (I have a few of them myself) and it has been great to see the channel grow like it has.
Well done on an amazing job NEV! The amount of mechanics I've met who say they love German cars but when they get older they're nothing but a nightmare - this RS6 looks incredible after the work done! Literal blood sweat and tears went into that!
Man, am I ever glad to have a closure on the Audi project! And I feel your pain, I used to have a b7, the best car I owned, but she was an absolute trailer queen. 100k on the dash and the dpf gave out, the turbo had to be cleaned, the oil pump chain broke, the flywheel had to be replaced, the brakes, the gearbox oil , and the list just goes on for days. I felt the same relief the day I sold it for peanuts money. I loved her to bits, but she was the bain of my lifer for the better part of 2 years. GOOD RIDDANCE AND GREAT JOB MATE!😅
I had a similar experience with a bmw e61. I wanted to love that car, but the never ending problems were too much. Luckily, I’m and ex hgv mechanic so I did all the repairs myself. If I’d have had to pay someone, it would have been scrapped!
Again another Epic video. Honest and raw. I loved my audi until the ABS sensor went. Over priced parts can be made by 3d printers or local engineering firms. My go to channels are yours, M539, NNKH and Matt Armstrong. Great job.

your videos are great, it's a true story how hard it can be working on today's cars. Having worked on all of them including jag 12 cyl back in the day [1980] up to Porsche Macan . Keep up the good work. Paul
I hate it when you have to remove 10 things to get to what you want to fix. Had a Beemer that was like that. I still fondly remember my first car, a 74 Cortina that had ton of space all around the engine to work on...Ah the good old days :)
Howling at the £40 from Leigh Baxter. That's absolutely amazing.. My nextdoor neighbour has an RS8 of the same age and it's been parked up for years too. It will financially destroy anybody who tries to get it back on the road - much like this RS6.

OMG! That's the exact Top Gear film that started my obsession with the trio and cars and driving road in the UK and literally my whole being! I remember it so clearly! and now Audi has gone and moved the goal posts, I wanted an RS6 sooooo bad!
Ooooohhh the auld "RS" tax. Nightmare mate. Looking forward to this build. Like you, my hero is the B5 RS4 2.7 Bi-Turbo or what you have right here, The Daddy - RS6. Layer Cake was responsible for my love for this shape RS6. I remember every man and his dog would rock those RS6 wheeks on their MK4 Golf GT TDi's. First fire up......yeeeehaaaa. Straight Pipe too. That thing is a pure ASBO 😂. I'd have left her to build up to temp, drop the oil. Change the filter and oil and repeat. Good luck bro. Shes a keeper.
I like your microphone. And a watch. And your videos. Quality content. I had A6 Avant 2.7 bi-turbo. Manual quattro. What a beast it was... Used to do skids where you just spin in one place :D It used to accelerate in a snow faster than it stopped :D Turbos and electronics went bad though.. Was uneconomical to repair.. Had my hearth broken. No more Audis for me.
I bought one in the beginning of this year and don't regret anything. Was my childhood dreamcar and is such great many good. Only 210.000km done as well. But with any german car older than 15 years, you have to get creative. Rubber or hydraulic hoses are easily replicated by your local hydraulic line builder. In Germany it's Hansaflex. A servo-line from the reservoir to the cooler? RS6 Audi tradition 250€. For a used part. Hansaflex? 30€ in higher grade material and hose. Same with plastic parts. I build metal equivalents like the little levers for the carlevel sensors. The intake houses I replaced with Wagner ones using a normal car jack. Took about 2 hours But what I've never heard anyone say about those is that they are dimwitted. Even people who never drove these and literally grew up with Porsche, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Range Rover like the RS6 very much.
That wobble is typical for tripod type inner CV joints. Had it on my Quattro, but in my case it was causing the whole car to shake if you accelerate while turning at anything over 60mph.
One too many knuckles busted on this one to still like it.. reminded me of Edwins audi at TDC by time you guys were done with it you were happy to see it go.
We actually got this car in the US. Amazing motor. Terrible transmission. Got to drive one in 07 and It really was a beautiful car. Dark grey with black interior and carbon fiber interior trim. Man that transmission was sluggish. A manual swapped one of these would be one hell of an experience. Rs tax is real. B5 rs4 oem parts are crazy as well if you can even find them.
Yes that watch though F-91W! love it and love the content keep up the good work sir, love getting away from work and watching your vids with a nice cuppa :D
RS6 c5 is known to be a absolute money pit. There's a few base things that always need consideration, and preventive maintenance is one of them. Apart from the brakes (They are expensive, and they do rip fast) you have the shocks / springs, the gearbox, which simply is not suited for the engine's power output. It guzzles fuel, and the road tax + insurance alone is a hefty price to pay. Now i owned a RS4 B5 for 3+ years. Don't look strange when i say the thing costed me 33k in just maintenance and upgrades, apart from fuel and / or tax / insurance. I eventually parted out the car (selling the parts individual) instead as a whole car, because that would brought more then selling it in one. At the end of the day i gathered 19k out of it from which 2k was for the garage. I have to say i have enjoyed every KM driven in those 3 years (bought at 280.000KM and parted at 410.000KM). They are robust and solid once maintained properly. These cars are not for people with a small wallet. Maintenance will cost you serious money.
@@Rscottphillips Anything with a RS badge is heavily taxed. Pricing of parts is done to make back the R&D done over the course of years. Audi itself is quite a overrated brand.
the fenders and other front parts are the same on the a6 and s6 IF the engine is a NA 4.2 liter, I am currently doing a "widebody" conversion on my narrow body, fenders are from a a6 c5 4.2 and front bumper was a damaged rs6 bumper which I got for 200€ and fixed
I don’t understand how you can just give away about 7k in money. Rent a unit bless you and some how make money to live on. Very good vlog. I own an Audi a4 b6 tdi. Now I know how to take the front end off. Thanks.
Its cheaper to just replace the outer and inner joints of the driveshaft, also its easy to do. < 80 bucks for both, while keeping the origninal shaft because the cheap ones tend to rust fast.
Videos like that make me wanna buy a dacia Duster so i have a second car whilst i tinker with my old audi daily driver (2009 TTS) Also nice guns mate. That t shirt sleeve roll is lookkng great 😅
come back every of week to find another 10k subs loaded on, i obviously have good taste in vehicle you tubers.... this channel will do well, very watchable and likeable..... as someone else said..... English Stretten
Hey man, I just discovered your channel, you remind me of Ed China from the Wheelie Dealers. You are making a great videos. Let me tell you an interesting fact: Paul Walker used to own one of those RS6, he was a fan of that model. Probably there is a reason for that.
You doing an amazing job, you make a guy wanna go out and buy a project car but not the 6 cylinder petrol sipping monster of an engine but they seem to be the cheaper ones available. I wonder why. 🤪❤🇿🇦
Already commented once, but that ending deserves another. The humility and honesty of this channel is what seperates it from the other noise on TH-cam, authentic love of cars delivered in a relatable way 🫶🏻
Finally, a new update! 🙃 Please, more new episodes. We like your channel a lot.

Just imagine how painful it would be to replace the timing chain on this car. BETWEEN the engine and the gearbox! 😵
Tbh once the front end is off it’s not the worst thing to remove. Unlike the later v10
The timing chain isn't between the engine and gearbox on these engines.
Timing belt on these BCY and BRV engines. There are cam chains, but not a timing chain per se!

Took about 2 hours
But what I've never heard anyone say about those is that they are dimwitted. Even people who never drove these and literally grew up with Porsche, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Range Rover like the RS6 very much.
A good engineering company would have sorted that caliper.
That engine sounds delicious.
That wobble is typical for tripod type inner CV joints. Had it on my Quattro, but in my case it was causing the whole car to shake if you accelerate while turning at anything over 60mph.
Awesome recap good sir! I'm a huge wagon fan myself and that was a beauty.
Looks loads better with the "black pack" delete! Fantastic result!
I've never looked for my name before! Nice to see a members list that's growing well 👍
Thanks bud
Amazing journey, beautiful car it's so nice that you rescued it.
One too many knuckles busted on this one to still like it.. reminded me of Edwins audi at TDC by time you guys were done with it you were happy to see it go.
VAG group cars avoid avoid avoid 😔
I do agree too many expensive issues
We actually got this car in the US. Amazing motor. Terrible transmission. Got to drive one in 07 and It really was a beautiful car. Dark grey with black interior and carbon fiber interior trim. Man that transmission was sluggish. A manual swapped one of these would be one hell of an experience. Rs tax is real. B5 rs4 oem parts are crazy as well if you can even find them.
Great job, mate! Keep going with projects like this...👍
Yes that watch though F-91W! love it and love the content keep up the good work sir, love getting away from work and watching your vids with a nice cuppa :D
You misspelled “All Audi vehicles” 😂
@@Rscottphillips Anything with a RS badge is heavily taxed. Pricing of parts is done to make back the R&D done over the course of years. Audi itself is quite a overrated brand.
Those magazine pages tho - I have questions..... lol Great video!!!
An automatic estate is not my cup of tea but your efforts were fab 😊
the fenders and other front parts are the same on the a6 and s6 IF the engine is a NA 4.2 liter, I am currently doing a "widebody" conversion on my narrow body, fenders are from a a6 c5 4.2 and front bumper was a damaged rs6 bumper which I got for 200€ and fixed
Great channel , really happy i found this .
I don’t understand how you can just give away about 7k in money. Rent a unit bless you and some how make money to live on. Very good vlog. I own an Audi a4 b6 tdi. Now I know how to take the front end off.
Thanks.
7k? That's 20.000 in Germany
Never knew you were a builder😂😂😂😂😂☮️☮️
That magic RS6 badge on the front grill should get a mention....😄
Its cheaper to just replace the outer and inner joints of the driveshaft, also its easy to do. < 80 bucks for both, while keeping the origninal shaft because the cheap ones tend to rust fast.
Videos like that make me wanna buy a dacia Duster so i have a second car whilst i tinker with my old audi daily driver (2009 TTS)
Also nice guns mate. That t shirt sleeve roll is lookkng great 😅
Brilliant stuff, love in the channel. Great work.
Can’t deny It though they’re definitely the most beautiful RS6 made to date I wish I owned one lol
Yes!!! A new Nino-vid! Love these long ones!
come back every of week to find another 10k subs loaded on, i obviously have good taste in vehicle you tubers.... this channel will do well, very watchable and likeable..... as someone else said.....
Oh, the Ford Focus RS MK1 on the cover at 0:50 😍❤
Already commented once, but that ending deserves another. The humility and honesty of this channel is what seperates it from the other noise on TH-cam, authentic love of cars delivered in a relatable way 🫶🏻
