I own an RX100Vi and a OneR (360 + 4K) If your primary objective is photography or videography (not necessarily vlogging) I find the RX100VI to be much more full featured option. Simply the ability to control focal point with expand flexible spot, shoot with a usable viewfinder, the ability to quickly adjust aperture / shutter / ISO, the ability to zoom in and out and to shoot burst at very high speed with a large buffer are enough for me. I agree One Inch mod gives great images and good low light. I agree low light on RX100Vi is not great and it doesn't have stabilization at all. But the key point is I know I can pull the sony out of my pocket and grab an impromptu shot. I have never had it freeze up, overheat, fog up. One R system while innovative, is not reliable enough to use as a primary camera on a trip (in my mind). Thanks for your informed review though.
I agree, I’m on the verge of jumping ship. Yet, with how much the One R sells for now, I am so reluctant to make the switch. Seems like it is good enough now, although I am a sucker for broken shots, which was what was the major difference for me. Good point

The control of the 'head bobbing effect' is what I most wonder about.. To adequately judge the vertical motion for stabilization, the camera has to be pointed forward, seeing what you see as you walk. Head bobbing motion as a test of 4th/vertical axis motion cannot be easily judged with the camera facing you while walking. Many action-style cameras do 3 axis motion control well. The downfall is the z axis.
Hopefully insta 360's VR180 mount with two forward facing 1" lenses will be ready soon! BUT, they have to adjust those Leicas somehow for closer focusing or even better make them adjustable!

Does that improve if using an external battery pack? 2) When using external battery packs, you need to press the ON/OFF every 10mins? Means, I can’t leave it alone to record a 2 hr footage? 3) Are there any recording gaps when shooting longer videos? I.e. the cam saves the video into smaller blocks of 30mins and are there any gaps between those files? Usage will mainly for my drumming footage for concerts and as an action cam also. Considering this Vs GoPro 9

Hopefully one day some manufacturer can make a good quality interchangeable lens small sensor camera with multiple mount options, would be great for certain types of astrophotography - where the smaller the sensor is, the better, or for using 8mm d-mount lenses.
I use GP8 in the day time it was so convenience due to its size and I switched to RX100 in the night time as GP8 couldnt do any good in low light but carrying RX around was so uncomfortable at all. I will definitely go on 1R 1" only if its low light capability is as good as RX100.
The size does not matter, both pocketable. Difference are Sony has zoom, flash, photo capability and insta has better stabilization, water proof. Please compare both in very low light condition.

Insta360 ONE R is inherently a pan-focus camera. Without autofocus, to shoot sharp image, it heavily relies on the big hyperfocal length with a slower aperture. 1-inch sensor is expected to outperform smaller sensor models in low light situation, but the aperture is haphazardly small due to the previously stated design consideration. It is quite frustrating to see such a self-conflicting product function design.
I had to cancel my order because they wouldn’t deliver after almost 2 months. Really wanted the 1” sensor camera. I also D.M. Them last week with no response as to whether they’re actually going to ship it this time if I order it again. But like always an awesome review 💪✌️

I suspect their software was wrote for Windows primarily then ported to Mac, don’t think it even looks like a Mac software. Likewise a lot of iPhone apps run better than Android for the same reason

It's a super size. However, the Sony clearly has better colour science and image processing (other than image stabilisation). The ONE R looks either oversharpened or blurry, skin especially (seriously, are they applying a beauty filter?)
I thought the One R would be close to as good as an rx100, but a RX0 ii is still better and closer to the rx100 with just a slightly worse lens. Insta360 is doing something in their software that is messing stuff up.
No matter who reviews this or how many reviews come out for it, there is no money on earth or any person on earth who could persuade me to try it or purchase it. The One R is complete garbage in my opinion. I will stick to my Sony RX 100 VII and DJI Osmo Action

I didn't know footage could be too stable, but that Insta360 stabilization makes me feel dizzy for some reason.
The Sony seems to look a little nicer, but lacks the stabilisation. The 360 is approaching pocket size. More belt clipped camera maybe.
Bought the original rx100 in 2012. Still using it today lol. Really good camera. But yeah smart phones will eventually get to using one inch sensors.

Pull down your mask slightly lower. Enough to cover till your edge of nose.
