Yes - Dimash is acting. He's a story teller at heart and fully inhabits each song that he performs; delivering all the emotion, putting the drama into the room, engaging the audience and taking them with him on this journey. Sometimes a roller coaster! He blends many genres and many styles. We can also see the strong influence on his performance of his Operatic and Musical Theatre background, bringing these favours into a classical/ contemporary cross-over space. The is no other artist, I've seen, that can fall to his knees and pound his fists on the stage and not have it seem completely over the top! But with Dimash, it's just; "Oh yes- that's right. Fit's perfectly with the emotion!" 🤩 As for his knees.. MANY people are concerned and have told him to stop abusing them in this way. it is not uncommon for Chinese Dears, in particular, to meet him in airports etc. and hand him gift packs of knee protectors! I've seen no evidence of him wearing any though!😵💫 Have you been checking out his more recent stuff? 😄
If you see the first episode with his behind the scenes parts when he sang SOS, you find out how stubborn Dimash is when he does not agree with the producers on the musical arrangement. Dimash choreographs and produces his own songs. He does listen to advice but if he does not agree, he does it his way. Also, keep in mind this is a competition and also in the first episode, the producers told him that he would not have a chance to win unless he got the 500 member audience who were musical professionals and the judges to give him a standing ovation. He had to show ALL his vocal skills almost in every song. After SOS, he had the audience standing just by walking in the door. Sort of begs the question of how he came in second. After you finish The Singer 2017, you need to skip ahead to 2019 New Wave performances and then to current times. His English has improved every year and also his voice has matured and become even more extraordinary in 2021.
He came in second because the rules didn't allow a foreigner to win; but the rules were changed in 2018 because so many complaints about DIAMSH not winning in 2017; forced the change. But he came out of the contest a legend above all the other contestants so he got what he wanted from the show.
Well Dimash is quite stubborn when it comes to how a performance should be. It’s not only the arrangement of the song but also the way how to deliver it… Dimash has clear visions of how to execute. When you are getting to his more recent performances you will see that he is a brilliant performer who uses his body language, gestures and acting skills perfectly.
There is actually a vocal coach from another country who was able to define to a “T” why and how Dimash performs the way that he does. For example, I know some have seen him use his fingers as if he is playing a piano when singing. Watch how his voice changes when he straightens his arm and his hands are facing outwards or inward. Watch how his neck is always straight even if he turns his head. There were many pointers. To many because it is Dimash, they think his movements are part of his performance but after carefully watching him, it’s very true. That was a very interesting analogy by this technical voice coach. Remember when he was a competitor in the Mask Singer, only those who never heard him would not have known but those of us who love him knew from the very beginning. He’s like the wand to a violin, his fingers gesture playing a guitar or piano and singing that note. Really interesting and it’s something that most singers do but no one as great as Dimash. Singers can learn a lot from him. He has PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED since age 5 and it wasn’t easy. He said he was very nervous when he first sang Olympico because his voice professor was in the audience. I just love him. So humbling and talented.

It kinda hurt me when your friend had the impression that Dimash did everything as a result of being coached, and singing Diva Dance is a sport rather than an art. I sort of agree that Diva Dance is mainly to showcase his vocal ability. But you need to introduce your friend to other songs Dimash sang. Each is a piece of art. Dimash does his own thing. He knows what he wants and is very stubborn. If you are watching behind the scenes of the first episode, planning the SOS performance, you will see that he is very determined on how he wants it.
Dimash is not a one trick pony. He covers many genres. Not always exploiting the full range of possibilities, but tastefully adapting to what the song asks for.
I think your friend should watch more Dimash and then give an opinion, DImash is a beautiful, unique singer and performer!!!❤️❤️❤️and by the way he doesn’t have a couch to advise him how to perform, Dimash is the only one who decides what to do and how to do it!!!👍🏻

Fact. He had performed "Diva Dance" a few times in Kazakhstan before going to China, including once at the Astana Opera House in 2016. The staging and choreo are very similar and equally dramatic. He's always choreographed his own performances. As can be seen with his performances of "SOS" as early as 2012, the staging is fully in place well before he went to China.
13:30 This is a competition for professional Chinese singers who are already famous and on top of their career. Dimash was invited as a wild card, the youngest ever to compete in this competition. You should check his performance to Diva Dance from his Bastau concert, where he took it to another level. Sure some female opera singers have done this before, but none of them can sing those low parts the way Dimash does. Just watch the Bastau version. Another really good version is one he sung with Li Yugang + Drunken concubine. Fantastic performance. You could do a double reaction, the first one is really short.

Can’t wait till you finish the singer series and dive into Dimash after that. He has improved so much since then. Hope you continue to see his later performances he really owns the stage, plus you should see what he is doing today as he has released a lot of performances this month alone that will blow your mind. Dimash is very much into every song he sings and you can feel that in every performance. He gives 200% every time. You really haven’t seen anything yet of what he can do. Don’t worry about his knees the Chinese contestants gave him knee pads to save his knees they concerned about them also. Haha
Dimash is pretty stubborn and has his own ideas on how he interprets and delivers a song. Dimash is very dramatic and a good actor on stage . I don’t think anyone coached him to fall on his knees or fall back. Thank you for your reactions.

In a world of Fake singers and Autotune, Dimash is a God!!! He is not just a singer, but a true performer, a professional in music and with the carisma and respect to the viewers very few have. So I do enjoy your reaction, but i will recommend to learn a bit more about him. It seemed a bit unfair some of the comments of your friend who had it all wrong! D was never coached for this show, and at the contrary he fought the producers to get his arraingments to his taste and knowledge in music. Jacob, I loved that laugh at the beginning! Dimash has said he is an actor before a singer. Also, Dimash knows Taekwondo so can fall without hurting himself.

Yes Dimash is a Gold Standard Olympic Award Level Vocal Gymnast! He has been training his vocal chords - indeed his whole physique - for this since the age of 5 ! So - that's over 2 decades of specialised training, and I believe he practices for a number of hours every single day. After I commented on a previous performance, where he held his last note 'forever', that he must have the lung capacity of an Olympic Level Underwater Ballet / Synchronised Swimmer! - someone told me that he also swims a lot to deliberately to expand his lung capacity. The dramatic component of his performances, I believe is not so much to do with coaching in the Chinese context, although he would know that this style would be very much appreciated there, but also part of his Classical Opera / Classical Theatre Training - in Kazakhstan. And Yes... I too worry about his knees - as he ends many of his performances this way. Having worked in orthopaedic rehab... I know rather too much about long term damage to joints and surrounding complex sructures & knees are particularly tricky. Not everything can be fixed with surgery. It would be sad to see him being wheeled on to stage for performances before he turned 40. At the very least he should be wearing support strapping or knee pads if he wants to continue doing this - especially on hard performance surfaces. We see sportsmen, and women, coming in for 'repairs' in their 30's with wear and tear injuries that we wouldn't normally see for a few more decades in the general population, and they are landing on grass or dirt.
My son about 17 years ago kept making me watch The 5th Element so when I heard Dimash singing the Diva Dance it made me think of my son. Please keep in mind that Dimash’s brother is his translator and has been teaching him English as well as other languages. He actually knows what he’s singing. Dimash is the only one who has been able to perfectly sing Diva Dance. Since the Singer he has had many solo concerts in many countries. Prior to 1991, Kazakhstan was part of the Soviet Union so he speaks in Russian and Kazakh fluently. French, Italian, Mandarin, English he is learning. Thanks for your reaction.
I was very interested to hear David’s comments about Chinese competition shows and how the singers are much more expressive emotionally, because I’ve not only watched all of the 2017 Singer, but about half of the Super Vocals competition (2018?) and that was one of the many things that struck me about those shows. He is correct about the coaching, though - at least from what I watched on Super Vocals; however, not sure about Dimash being coached in everything, since his stubbornness on things musical is practically legendary, lol. Hi! I also watched the whole Singer 2017, and I don't know if you have noticed, no one was on their knees in their performances. Dimash did that in Adagio, Confessa, and Daybreak. That's just his thing.

I love all these experts with their arm chair analysis. The people respond to Dimash in a profound way. The best music right now is coming out of Eurasia. The west has become stagnant and hollow. And mediocre imo. Dimash is a free spirit. Yes he's studied. But he does what he wants in his performances. He's the Captain of his ship with a great and loyal crew. The Singer show in China is a competition between professional and popular singers. Dimash was the first foreigner to be allowed. They invited him based on his reputation in winning competitions Russia and Kazakhstan. They didn't expect him to last more than a song or two. He stayed to the end. They gave him Second place because he was an unknown outsider among celebs. But it hasn't stopped his fans or career. To us Dears....he's a glorious breath of fresh air.

You are talking about a talent show when you say he is being coached. This is a competition, but for already established artists, there is a difference, plus Dimash already does his own falling to his knees, and uses his hands and face to emote. Interesting discussion, but I don't think he was "coached" in this case.
Ha ha when his first performance with SOS on The Singer the producers tried to convince him to sing the song their way but stuck to his guns and did it his way. We know the results of that an oversight sensation.

If you don't know about singers, even the most established artist still have vocal coaches. They might miss something so it's good to have a 2nd and 3rd ear to make sure everything comes out as best as it can get. Ariana grande, jessie J, everyone has a vocal/stage coach. Edit nvm, thought you guys were talking about vocal coaches. But i'm sure he has a stage coach as well to give him opinions on how to optimize his performance.

It kinda hurt me when your friend had the impression that Dimash did everything as a result of being coached, and singing Diva Dance is a sport rather than an art. Dimash does his own thing. He knows what he wants and is very stubborn. If you are watching behind the scenes of the first episode, planning the SOS performance, you will see that he is very determined on how he wants it.

Fact. He had performed "Diva Dance" a few times in Kazakhstan before going to China, including once at the Astana Opera House in 2016. The staging and choreo are very similar and equally dramatic. He's always choreographed his own performances. As can be seen with his performances of "SOS" as early as 2012, the staging is fully in place well before he went to China.
Also, I watched the whole Singer 2017. No one was on their knees as he did.
13:30 This is a competition for professional Chinese singers who are already famous and on top of their career. Dimash was invited as a wild card, the youngest ever to compete in this competition.
You should check his performance to Diva Dance from his Bastau concert, where he took it to another level. Sure some female opera singers have done this before, but none of them can sing those low parts the way Dimash does. Just watch the Bastau version. Another really good version is one he sung with Li Yugang + Drunken concubine. Fantastic performance. You could do a double reaction, the first one is really short.

Can’t wait till you finish the singer series and dive into Dimash after that. He has improved so much since then. Hope you continue to see his later performances he really owns the stage, plus you should see what he is doing today as he has released a lot of performances this month alone that will blow your mind. Dimash is very much into every song he sings and you can feel that in every performance. He gives 200% every time. You really haven’t seen anything yet of what he can do. Don’t worry about his knees the Chinese contestants gave him knee pads to save his knees they concerned about them also. Haha
Dimash is pretty stubborn and has his own ideas on how he interprets and delivers a song. Dimash is very dramatic and a good actor on stage . I don’t think anyone coached him to fall on his knees or fall back. Thank you for your reactions.

D was never coached for this show, and at the contrary he fought the producers to get his arraingments to his taste and knowledge in music. When your video began for the "Diva Dance" it was playing at 3/4 speed. I hope you were able to listen to it at normal speed. Of course, even at 3/4 speed the vocal is incredible, but even more impressive at normal speed.

I've read that most of "Diva Dance" from the movie was sung by the operatic soprano Inva Mula, but there is a riff of staccato notes, which have to be sung too quickly for a human and that's the part, where the notes were sung separately and combined by a computer. So whoever sings this song, changes this part. Yes Dimash is a Gold Standard Olympic Award Level Vocal Gymnast! He has been training his vocal chords - indeed his whole physique - for this since the age of 5 ! So - that's over 2 decades of specialised training, and I believe he practices for a number of hours every single day. After I commented on a previous performance, where he held his last note 'forever', that he must have the lung capacity of an Olympic Level Underwater Ballet / Synchronised Swimmer! - someone told me that he also swims a lot to deliberately to expand his lung capacity.
The dramatic component of his performances, I believe is not so much to do with coaching in the Chinese context, although he would know that this style would be very much appreciated there, but also part of his Classical Opera / Classical Theatre Training - in Kazakhstan.
And Yes...
I too worry about his knees - as he ends many of his performances this way.
Having worked in orthopaedic rehab... I know rather too much about long term damage to joints and surrounding complex sructures & knees are particularly tricky. Not everything can be fixed with surgery. It would be sad to see him being wheeled on to stage for performances before he turned 40. At the very least he should be wearing support strapping or knee pads if he wants to continue doing this - especially on hard performance surfaces. We see sportsmen, and women, coming in for 'repairs' in their 30's with wear and tear injuries that we wouldn't normally see for a few more decades in the general population, and they are landing on grass or dirt.
There are 2 songs.. Confessa and Diva Dance is the closing act for, Confessa.. A declaration chosen by Dimash. The fall timed for humility.

My son about 17 years ago kept making me watch The 5th Element so when I heard Dimash singing the Diva Dance it made me think of my son. Please keep in mind that Dimash’s brother is his translator and has been teaching him English as well as other languages. He actually knows what he’s singing. Dimash is the only one who has been able to perfectly sing Diva Dance. Since the Singer he has had many solo concerts in many countries. Prior to 1991, Kazakhstan was part of the Soviet Union so he speaks in Russian and Kazakh fluently. French, Italian, Mandarin, English he is learning. Thanks for your reaction.
I was very interested to hear David’s comments about Chinese competition shows and how the singers are much more expressive emotionally, because I’ve not only watched all of the 2017 Singer, but about half of the Super Vocals competition (2018?) and that was one of the many things that struck me about those shows. He is correct about the coaching, though - at least from what I watched on Super Vocals; however, not sure about Dimash being coached in everything, since his stubbornness on things musical is practically legendary, lol. Hi! I also watched the whole Singer 2017, and I don't know if you have noticed, no one was on their knees in their performances. Dimash did that in Adagio, Confessa, and Daybreak. That's just his thing.

I love all these experts with their arm chair analysis. The people respond to Dimash in a profound way. The best music right now is coming out of Eurasia. The west has become stagnant and hollow. And mediocre imo. Dimash is a free spirit. Yes he's studied. But he does what he wants in his performances. He's the Captain of his ship with a great and loyal crew.
The Singer show in China is a competition between professional and popular singers. Dimash was the first foreigner to be allowed. They invited him based on his reputation in winning competitions Russia and Kazakhstan. They didn't expect him to last more than a song or two. He stayed to the end. They gave him Second place because he was an unknown outsider among celebs. But it hasn't stopped his fans or career. To us Dears....he's a glorious breath of fresh air.

You are talking about a talent show when you say he is being coached. This is a competition, but for already established artists, there is a difference, plus Dimash already does his own falling to his knees, and uses his hands and face to emote. Interesting discussion, but I don't think he was "coached" in this case.

If you don't know about singers, even the most established artist still have vocal coaches. They might miss something so it's good to have a 2nd and 3rd ear to make sure everything comes out as best as it can get. Ariana grande, jessie J, everyone has a vocal/stage coach.
