  • We took a drive through the heart of Lanzarote, taking in Famara, where we stopped for lunch, the desert and the little villages of Soo, Munique, Tiagua and Tao, before finishing up at Monumento Campesino to see the damage caused by the high winds.

These roads are superb Mike, I love to drive and cycle in Lanzarote. In addition to good pavement surface and lovely sweeping construction through terrain, the viability with so little and low growing vegetation is so relaxing compared to Irish and UK roads flanked by hedgerows!
    Loving the videos, thanks, Garry

Hi both, loved this video. It's our last day on the island today but back for longer in September. Strangely, we did most of the route you took this morning. The scenery as you drive through the island is fantastic. Shame the weather this week has not been the same as it was when you made this video. However, we have had a great time enjoying what the island has to offer. Thanks for all your hard work, looking forward to Saturday's "news from Lanzarote" video.

Great info regarding the traffic lights Mike, I've often wondered why they worked the way they do. My favourite drive is from Orzola back to Charco del Palo as it's such a good road but to be honest all the roads in Lanzarotë are superb compared what we have in the UK🙄

Took me weeks to figure out the flashing traffic lights lol, but admittedly a very good idea.
Lovely drive too, some others worth noting for visitors are the short drive from Yaiza to El Golfo and also going up to Mirador Del Rio, especially the lookout point at the restaurant near Haria, fantastic views.
Keep up the great videos 👍

Great video guys 😊. There's something really therapeutic about driving along those roads, especially the one down into Famara. Done that route many times 😌

I've done this drive and love the open expansive terrain here. As you are probably aware, Mike, the video and sound quality wasn't ideal in places - camera focus on windscreen and you muffled. Can be avoided by focus lock and a separate mic for yourself.

Oh, seems that the streets of Caleta were also changed to an Arrecife-style one-way traffic labyrinth, recently.

One wonders, why it was not possible to make the streets (through the desert!) just half a meter wider on each side, so that the the bicyclists could have their own lane.
