Without having used any of these models, seeing how your video starts, I think the SLs are a better investment in terms of durability. I like their design better too.
Great video. In my experience, the shifts toe box is way smaller, def height wise. And the shifts after about 3 weeks, when I would crank down on the laces, my heal would shift side to side some, loosened up the laces and solved that. SL's my Aragon 5 shells are still ripping
Ive been really wanting to get back into skating just for fun n also to help get back into shape n absolutely loved how the Broom Shifts look, the color combo everything but $270 is alot. But damn i think im guna get them
The SL is known for being one of the few wide options on the market and the Shift for being slim. I tried the Shift in EU41-42 (42 is my size) and it was wayy to narrow. But the IFS (instant frame shifting) system just seems like such an awesome feature!! Now I'm contemplating testing them out again.. TH-cam always keeping my skate crisis alive and well.! 😂
Great video, I skate SLs the aragon 4's with Kizer shifts riding freestyle and always wondered what the razor shifts would be like. Figured they weren't too different. I too agree, that razor really needs to release some more color ways of the SL's and to be honest, new color ways of the Genesys need to be put out. Those were my favorite skates. My pair developed a pressure point and thats why I ended up trying the SLs out
Back to razors after like 3 years of trying 5 or so different skates and brands and previous skating sl's I find the brooms perfect , I run mine with oysi frames because I struggle with wheel bite but love skating flat and I find the liner it comes with much better than my old reign liners I used in other skates as they are much newer than the ones I had overall a 10/10 skate although they feel very chunky because I was able to downsize in some other brand skates but I love them ! Was a really in-depth review and covered everything perfectly and agreed with so many points you said
Do you downsize at all? Wondering what length your feet are and what size shells you are using. Im a uk8 and can fit into a uk8 SL, but the UK8 shift that i should be able to fit into feet way too small.
I fit comfortably in a US8 in both skates; I didn't notice any difference in sizing/spacing between the two. However, I did replace the liners with ones I've previously broken-in. I hate breaking-in new liners . . . new liners always make the skate feel smaller to me.
Good stuff. Great content as always. From your experience, how often is it required to buy a fresh pair of SL boots when skating regularly to avoid them getting too soft/flimsy or is it enough to replace just the cuffs?
Realistically, I think they could last for several years without replacement. I guess it depends on how much damage you inflict on them. I go through Razor buckles about every 6-8 months, but I drag my feet when I fall. Personally, I buy a new pair of skates every spring . . . I'm hard on my skates and like to support the industry.
What liners do you recommend for the razors SL? I find the cuff digging into my ankles while doing royals and other grinds. Awesome videos by the way! Keep it up🙏🙏
You rip!!! I’ve known about your channel for a while, but before that I had never heard of you. You’ve obviously been skating forever. Just wondering if it’s me, or if this industry slept on you? Were you ever a team rider for any brands?
I rode locally for Con Artist clothing back in 2006-2009 . . . just on the flow-team. There are plenty of people much better and far more deserving of sponsorship than me. I appreciate the kind words though!
Got back into skating last december on the USD Sway team 60's. In hindsight maybe i should have gotten the Razors Shifts. That frame seems better, and I'd like my boot a bit more flexible. I'm 41 and haven't skated in about 20 years lol. First stand in went like i did it the last time i skated, naturally. Finally some good weather and more practice time every evening if i can. Great vid, down to earth and honest. Gonna try my skates withou the heel raisers next session, good point!
Sway's are solid. I reviewed those on the channel a few months back. I found them less spacious in the boot (particularly the toes), but they were good. Finding the right pair of skates is a bit of trial and error. Welcome back to blading by the way!
@@RollMinnesota will check the vid out! I have wide feet, so yeah the liner I still right, pressure points are okay. Or maybe skates and liners have become waaaay more comfy these days 😎
@@workingoutdoorsman6956 yeah I just had to try and get back at it. First stand in try went flawless. Muscle memory is real Been out a few times and we've finally got nice weather. @@workingoutdoorsman6956 Also jumping back at 41, I found my muscle memory basically came back after 20 years!! Great skating (as always) and review! I've also skated both and while I found them similar in width, the Shifts have less toe room, which for me with a high foot was less comfortable than the overall roomier SL. Since I've gotten back to blading around 7 years back, I tried out about 15 boots and I've settled on the SL. While I don't like the design of the soulsliders too much (and the brand as such) and had high hopes for Standard to take the SLs place, I'm not totally sure it will happen. SLs just work for me. Interesting that you skate the Slimlines flat btw - need to try that at some point. Looks like a great Aeon-like split. What wheel size are you using for flat on those?
Used to have the Tarmac by RB back in the day and even before that we pulled all these tricks without all the fancy boots and high tech frames... Verdict Learn to skate 😝
cannot stand the sloppiness and the Moon boot feeling of SL's. The shifts are light, slender and feel like a sophisticated cult boot. They don't sound as good as sl's but if you put foam inside the frame switching system then they sound good. It's just breaking in that Reign tongue that's annoying af 🤣.... another well done vid🔥🤘
I’m actually more impressed at your skate ability. I’ve watched your videos but haven’t seen you skate. Really sick man
Thanks, I’ve been skating since 2001 without any breaks. Definitely not the best in my local crew, but I try to keep up with the others.

I just got the shift camos. Pretty good fit for a wider foot. Really liking them and the fact that I can switch to my compass 80mm frames on the go
I'm running compass 80mms too, love these frames on my shifts

Much appreciated! I’m not the most consistent skater out there, but I try to mix in variety.
I've had 3 pairs of shifts and love them but recently changed to the new sways and kinda missing the shifts tho.😂

The slimelines take a little time to get used to riding flat. I’m rolling 57mm Eulogy wheels in them.
@@RollMinnesota Interesting - because of the wide split or groove? Is that about the max it takes rockered up, so it's actually pretty low profile?
It is low-profile, I think 58's are the biggest wheels they can accommodate @@art0nblades

I got the general impression folks didn't like the shift for some reason. I don't think Andrew even skates his skates. lol.
I think the general consensus is a preference for the SL boot, but the Shift is super convenient and very comparable, in my experience.
