    Tesla recently brought back Enhanced Autopilot as a $6K software upgrade which adds several important enhancements to the free basic Autopilot software that is included on every Tesla. But, how does it compare to the free basic Autopilot and the $12K Full Self Driving upgrade? Is it worth the extra cost to upgrade?

    As someone who has had Enhanced Autopilot since December 2018, my advice is to pay for the full package for a month and see what features are worth it to you. Ignore all these clowns telling you it’s not worth it, make that decision yourself. For instance, the other day I was doing some yard work and was pretty grimy. I needed to take the green waste bin to the backyard and the easiest path was through the garage. Instead of climbing into our Model 3 to move the car, I simply summoned it in and out of the way. No mess in the car. Our treadmill is located along the sidewall of our garage. No need to climb in the car after a workout to bring the car back in after treadmill use. The point is, make up your own mind. Too many people let other people decide for them.

    Question on EAP , does the car ask you to slightly turn the wheel every 30 seconds like that of the basic auto steer ?

  • @TheNewAccount2008
    @TheNewAccount2008 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Just for the record: Almost all AutoPilot features, including AutoSteer are still in beta. They mostly work really great, but Tesla apparently doesn't want to provide official customer support for it, so they leave a lot in Beta state.
    I bought my Tesla when EAP was not available, and bought FSD (at 6.000 back in the day if memory serves...) to get those EAP features. And after two years of driving now I have to say: It's worth the money to me. I have to add a disclaimer though: AutoPark was AWESOME when I first got my car, and really took a turn for the worse a few months ago. I seriously hope that Tesla fixes this, as currently it is completely useless. (And this is one of the "still Beta" moments I had with Tesla Service in the past...) Summon, and Smart Summon are not something I need, so those don't provide any benefit. And Navigate on Autopilot really doesn't work here in Europe. (About 90% of the "Lane change to follow route" suggestions are plainly wrong.) Traffic Lights and Stop Sign are crap, so that is also not something I would spend money on at the moment. BUT (and that's a big but) Auto Lane Change makes all the difference for me. Not having it means that you have to constantly get AutoPilot on and off and that's annoying, both from the usage perspective and (even more) because of the stupid sound it makes. Having ALC, I can drive long trips without disengaging AutoPilot even once, which is a VERY comfortable experience.

    I own a Tesla Model S (Aug-2018, 100D, enhanced Autopilot) and am considering upgrading from MCU2.5 to MCU3, plus a new Radio, for $3000. Tesla hasn't mentioned upgrading the cameras (I don’t have FSD). They're promoting this upgrade for better CPU/screen performance and LTE signal.
    Is this a wise investment? How can I maximize the benefits of MCU3? Also, is it true that subscribing to FSD would lead to a camera upgrade?

    EAP @ $6,000 is a good starter, more like a gateway FSD. Once experience the EAP, people will begin to realize the safety & convenience it provides. How much does saving one from a fender vendor, daily parking at narrow spot, and even a highway collision (for you & your family) worth to you ? Although my FSD has a room for improvement, still it is a safety blanket as is since it sees the road better than me during nights, intersections, and obviously when I"m sleepy or distracted. Preventing one accident from happening will pay FSD for itself.

    The software rental option is a good deal if you plan to keep your Tesla for less than 5 years. $200 per month for 5 years is $12,000, and $100 per month will be $6,000. The downside is that, if you sell your car, the resale value will be lower without the added features.

    Don’t waste your money. Most of the EAP features are currently disabled. Navigate on Autopilot sounds good, but in practice, it adds no value to a daily commute. I don’t need it trying to get me to move over for an exit 3 miles away if I know usual traffic patterns. Auto lane change is nice but that feature works with the basic autopilot.
    I like playing with technology. Thought about trying FSD on subscription. Looks like all that is going to do is stop at lights and signs (sometimes).

    if I get a Tesla Model Y next year 2024, I would only stick with the basic Auto Pilot. I do not do any freeway driving or highways that work with EAP. Nor do I see myself getting FSD, unless the prices drop allot. i thought FSD costs $15,000 dollars now?
    If basic Auto Pilot is similar to normal Cruise Control on my ICE vehicle, that is good enough for me. Does basic Auto Pilot do auto distancing from other vehicles in the same lane???
    Thanks for the video. Take care.

    It's obvious that many people do not think FSD is worth $12,000. What Tesla has done by reintroducing EAP is to effectively cut the price of FSD in half since, currently, there is no significant functional difference between EAP and FSD. By paying an additional $6000 over the price of EAP you are locking in the price of having fully autonomous driving at some indefinite future date. Is that a wise decision? I think it is because when (not if) Level 4 Autopilot is achieved, the price for FSD will become significantly higher. If you have any thought of owning a fully autonomous car for personal use or to create an income stream by joining Tesla's future network of robotaxis, the price of FSD will never be cheaper.

    I fail to see what all the hoopla is about EAP. A Kia Ioniq 5 Limited does everything EAP does except Auto summon and Navigate on Autopilot. And for $25k less. Plus, the Kia has some very desirable features that are available o the Tesla such a cooled seats, a killer 360 view system, front and rear cross traffic alert. I definitely won't be adding EAP to my MY.

    • @omarbabakarkhail
      @omarbabakarkhail ปีที่แล้ว

      As an owner of a 2019 MS with EAP, I can say it’s a smart decision. Lane changes on autopilot are not comfortable and I tend to disable it before changing lanes due to the “jerking”. The auto park feature has never been used as it can never successfully park the car. If you live in Europe, get the basic and you’re more than fine, invest the rest of the money in Tesla stocks.
