@@Jesko. To be fair, they weren't wrong at the time. With Toyota basically running a one horse race in LMP1, GTE was hard carrying WEC for a couple years there. Glad to see the top class filled out again though.

Aston Martin then switch to GTE / GT2 class with V8 Vantage from 2011 onwards Then the new generation (as you seen here) since 2018 with new engine 4000cc V8 twin-turbo sourced from Mercedes-Benz.

It was a feeling like no other when you were on the edge of your seat not knowing if Ford would win in 1966. It was actually a competition. With bop. WEC and IMSA just choose who they want to win and slow the other cars down. The races are artificial and very predictable and therefore boring as heck. Now you know who’s going to win based on who they didn’t slow down as much

I get where you’re coming from, but I’d rather have close racing where the drivers and strategy plays a part, not just car performance. IDEALLY, BoP doesn’t change the order, it just compresses it closer together. If you bring the fastest car, you’re still likely to be the fastest. If you bring a slow car, BoP isn’t going to help you much. It’s not like you can just build a shit car and rely on BoP. That’s not always what happens, but it’s what they aim for. Also, reliability can’t be BoP’d. You want to be fast but also not burn up your tires, handle well in wet conditions, and be reliable. Plus it keeps it from becoming a spending competition and increases car counts. People will always complain, whatever is done, but I feel like it’s more of a benefit than a hindrance when done properly and not too heavily.
They probably spent 5 million in the development of that Aston just to get it to finish a lap. The Vette and Porsche were picked up from some roadside used car dealer, and the drivers were just like… yeah I can work with this.

2019 has such a sweet GTE line up. Sad that Aston has also left gte for 2021
