Both sexes start with a generic kit of parts - a gonad, and a set of tubes. During the second month of development, under the influence of a complex network of genes, genitalia start to differentiate into female or male patterns.

Astounding lesson, from an astounding teacher! I'm flabbergasted over how the development of the reproductive system grows so very complicated, and am surprised that the "abnormalities" mentioned don't occur more frequently. Beautiful lecture Alice, it is a superb way to learn anything and you draw it so graphically well. Amazing to think we begin life with the same starter kit for our genitalia until 7 weeks.
