  • On our arrival in McGregor, we immediately saw that this was a unique town, which we loved. Driving up the main road, we saw the gravel roads which branched out to the sides, the beautiful old buildings, restaurants and church. Not to mention the friendly people of McGregor who made us feel so welcome. Lunch was great and the stunning Temenos Garden which I walked through was absolutely breathtaking. We then left for the evening and spent the night in the mountains at Boesmanskloof Die Galg. The next morning we spent another few hours in McGregor before heading to our next destination. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #mcgregor #boesmanskloof

    My father was born in McGregor and his family lived there. There’s a street named after my grandfather. He was the headmaster at the school there which was built in 1885. That was probably nearly 100 years ago now. Pity you didn’t get some food the old school. I walked through that garden and ate at the same restaurant and I recognise the first waiter. I had dinner at the old post office now the whiskey bar. They had a guitar hanging on the wall on which was written “play me” so I did. They were very complimentary and appreciative. Sadly none of my family can recall where the original family home is because all the oldies have since passed on. My only criticism is the new development that has been done is so out of character and they could’ve done a better job of designing it.
    Thank you for the video very well done. I will be visiting there again shortly.

      That makes three suckers for old structures! 🤩 We had a wonderful time in McGregor, there is such a chilled vibe in the town and the surrounding landscapes and mountains are just too beautiful. The diversity on offer in South Africa is really breathtaking. 🇿🇦🚗

    Mcgregor seems to be a lot bigger than when me and my Beloved visited back in 2015. We stayed on a farm outside Montagu and explored the surrounds. There is a donkey sanctuary in the area that we visited too. Love the church! So beautiful. And the rugged pass. Thanks guys

      You're right, this was our first visit to McGregor and we also found it bigger than we thought it would be. We think a lot of people moved to the town to restore old properties and retire there. It's a town full of charm and character. We so wanted to visit the donkey sanctuary, but it was also closed on Tuesdays and we happened to be in town on a Tuesday. We were rather sad about that, since they're one of our favourite animals of late. 🥰🐴

    So amazing, the scenery, the wall that the 4 gents were building and the little chalet you stayed at......definitely on my bucket list. Also your drone shots of the town...great.

    Wow that garden at Mc Gregor was amazing. Also the way they build those walls stunning. Just loved your little cottage for the night(not so little) lovely and all the Proteas amazing.

      The craftsman really know what they're doing with those stones. They made it seem so effortless, but it's really hard work. What has been achieved over the years with the garden, pictures can't do justice, it was wonderful to see and experience. 😍🌳

    What a quaint little town, loved the garden, Carmen in her store & those guys building the wall - all folk who make these little dorpies so much more interesting & richer. Beautiful church ! Your photography is amazing - love the drone shots as well.

      Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed our visit to the wonderful town of McGregor! It was such fun visiting that garden, it's absolutely beautiful! The town really has a character all its own and it doesn't hurt that it's surrounded by stunning landscapes and scenery. We actually met one of the stoneworkers as we drove into town the first day, but had no idea that we'd meet him again the next day and how talented he and his colleagues were! Well worth a visit! 😁🚗

      I honestly won't know. We don't pay too much attention to vehicles when we explore a new town. It sounds like you know your stuff around vehicles, so you're probably correct. 😁🚕

    Any tolerate at Bosman'skloof?

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I assume you're asking if there were a toilet at our accommodation at Boesmanskloof. There was a bathroom with a toilet, shower and basin. 🚽🚿 I just didn't film it.
