It's our pleasure to have you travel along with us! 🚙🤩 It's great fun exploring all these beautiful places, some of which we also never even heard of before!
Thank you for watching our video of your hometown! 🚙🤩 You're very blessed to come from a long line of Strydoms in your area, what a rich family history you have! It was super interesting to read all the names and dates on the monument and such a privilege to visit your town and the beautiful surroundings! ⛰️🌊🌳 Please do give our best regards to all the other Strydoms and especially all the Blikkies! 😁
It was such a pleasure meeting you while we drove through your beautiful town! 🚙🤩 You're certainly very lucky to call this place home. Thank you for pointing us to the road with the beautiful scenery, it was truly breathtaking! We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Krakeel River, a place which definitely is well worth a visit! 🌊⛰️
Yo...never heard of this place... And so old....my goodness.🎉🎉 Love all these amazing places. Dankie julle tweetjies....is mal gat oor julle.....🎉🎉🎉 mooi ry
Exactly like you, we also never heard of Krakeel River until I started planning our route for this trip. And obviously had no idea that it was so old, that blew our minds! 🤯 We're happy to introduce ourselves and you to them and hope we find many more along the way as we travel and explore. We look forward to it! 🚙🤩
So, we start with a leetle dreezle.....Lovely stay over place. I would certainly make use of the outdoor heated bath. We have yet to see you guys make a braai! Daai brood lyk so lekker. That is my ideal supper, looks like fig jam, so yummmm! The morning chorus is so beautiful. Lovely area, lucky people! I enjoy my pears nice and juicy, but they mustnt be melerig, same for apples. "Dames en Here, appels en pere"....Really enjoyed the trip down the gravel road, and what a beautiful sky coming back into the town. In the olden days a woman was buried outside the cemetary if she had an illegitimate child. Thank you for an awesome interesting video.
I love me a little drizzle and it was surreal arriving on the farm in the rainy, misty weather! 😍🌧️ Our cottage was cosy and compact and we immediately felt at home. We both love to braai, but it's normally a long and slow process for us and with the super long days on the road nowadays, we're just not keen on spending hours on food. We used to braai a lot in the earlier episodes when we still used to arrive at our accommodation mid-afternoon. 🥩🏡 The jam was apricot and it and the bread absolutely divine, there was nothing left when I was done with it! That grave outside the cemetery was rather intriguing and I still wonder what the reason behind it was. 🤷🏼♂️🏛️ I'm so glad you enjoyed Krakeel River as much as we did, it's certainly a very beautiful place! 🚙👌🏻
Hi guys another gem what a lovely farm and accommodation great idea heating the splash pool with wood fire I suppose it's logical as the drone footage shows the big forest. What a nice gesture home made bread and jam .l am with Sonia in such a beautiful valley into the size of the fruit operation. The monument was really interesting the stradom family going back to 1690 for me to put it into context its year its the year of the battle of the Boyne and King William of orange becoming King of GB amazing. The grave outside the cemetery is intriguing.i think you succeeded in finding the railway buildings It looks like they have been turned into living accommodation. I thought it was great the are making their own pallets giving more work for the people thanks for another fantastic video cheerio till the next one
Our accommodation was very pleasant and we had a really enjoyable stay in our little cottage. 😍🏡 The bread-and-jam was a spectacular dinner, especially after a long day on the road and us not feeling like cooking. It's always so interesting to read when you compare the history of GB to that of South Africa. It's not often that we get to visit villages of 250+ years old in our country and for yours it's commonplace and it goes much, much further than that even. Incredible! 🏛️😳 Those railway buildings are really neglected and almost destroyed, but at least we saw them. We just have to find a station in most places we visit as you very well know by now! 🚂🛤️ We so appreciate you coming to Krakeel River, a very old village, with us! 🚙😁
I have never heard of Krakeel River before, and I’m amazed that it is such an old town.I also love travelling with you through the special little places in our beloved country! Thank you!
We were just as surprised that the town is more than 250 years old! 😳 Before I started planning our route for this trip, we had also never heard of Krakeel River before. Happy to hear that you enjoyed it with us, it's great to have you on our virtual backseat! 🚙🇿🇦
What a stunning place although first time I hear of it. Just loved your accommodation on Africs farm it was amazing.Thank you for this lovely episode ❤
I'm glad you came to Krakeel River with us, it was our first time too and what a beautiful place! 🚙🤩 Our accommodation was very comfortable and we had a great night's rest. 🏡🛌🏻
Hi you two! Thank you for this wonderful trip! It must be great to wake up on a sunny morning with cooing doves and the sun shining after the drizzly evening. The stay over looked nice and cozy and the surroundings, both farm and nature, green and lovely as your drone footage shows. The trees along the roads were really special, 'green peace' :). The town itself seems to be all business. It is remarkably clean and neat though, which, together with the 250 year monument, I think says a lot about the family history of the town. A lovely, very interesting trip. Thank you, I'm ready to travel on! Keep safe!
That birdsong on that particular morning was unreal! 🕊️😍 It was exceptionally bright after the mist and rain of the previous day and so incredibly beautiful! Our accommodation was indeed cosy and compact and it felt like our own little tiny home, we loved it! 🏡 The surrounding area is magnificent and the history runs deep as you saw, all things we love so much! 🏛️⛰️🌊 Some more interesting and pretty places on the way, we can't wait to share those with you too! 🚙😁
What a nice place. Coming from a farm i love it. The langkloof is really beautiful. I was surprised to see Krakeelrivier. Quite a lot of activity there and once again driven by farming . Thanks guys well done. As always you made it a pleasure drive. Till the next one!
We were blown away by the surrounding beauty here! The drive on the gravel roads out of the village was spectacular with the one nature scene trying to be prettier than the one before! 🌊⛰️ We appreciate you having visited the Langkloof with us thus far and we look forward to tomorrow when we'll pick you up again for the next one! 🚙😁
@@DustBugsTravel you made me a bit homesick. It was so nice to see Krakeel! I now live in Australia. The last time I was in Krakeel, we climbed peak Formosa. It's a crazy hard climb but really worth it.
And we so appreciate you coming along with us to all these incredible places, some of which we never knew about until I started planning our route! 🚙🤩 We look forward to sharing many more of our travels with you! 😁
What a special place Krakeel is, especially a the history. Thank you for taking us on your journey to all the little unknown places. They are real gems.
It's really a great place and steeped in history. It's our pleasure to take you with us, these places are all way too special not to share with others who also enjoy travelling! Thank you for watching! 🚙😍
U know when i look at these little towns my eyes well up... it seems as if i cn live here or anywhere very easily ..i love South Africa so so much ...❤❤😊😊😊thnx fo taking me with on ur rroadtrips dustbugs😊❤😊
Another famous descended is Boer general Ignatius Ferreira (Free State), his son Ignatius married the second daughter of Boer hero Koos de la Rey. Sir Roy Welensky 's mother was Ferreira and his grandmother was Strydom...
I agree with you! 👌🏻 I can only imagine soaking in that hot tub in the misty, rainy weather we arrived in. That sounds awesome to me! 🛀🏻🌧️ The natural beauty in this area is spectacular! 🌊⛰️🌳
All the boards we saw and info we found online, referred to the 'Langkloof', so that's what we went with! 😁🤷♂️ I believe it is indeed the area which also featured in 'Fiela se Kind'.
When there is gravel, we shall always follow, that's for sure! 🚙🤩 We were so glad that we were pointed to the gravel road on the other side of the village. That valley and surrounding mountains were absolutely spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed the drive! It may be that we missed the church in Krakeel River or that the residents could be members of a congregation in a nearby town or village, I'm really not sure! 💒🤷🏼♂️ I would've loved to have a look at the graves, but I also understand why they lock the cemetery to protect the graves from damage. The old station buildings have all but been completely destroyed and, loving stations as much as we do, that was sad to see. It then made complete sense that they moved the station nameboards to the village itself where they proudly stand next to the very impressive monument honouring the Strydom legacy. 🏛️ Krakeel River was an awesome visit! 🚙🤩
If you keep on driving with that road you first took you will end up in a big valley behind the mountain, it's a very long drive and will end up in Louterwater again.
Hello fellow chair men & chair ladies, Curtis & Sonia. Curtis, as you were reading out the names on the plaques on each pillar, it occurred to me (I had to rewind to make sure) that the names could have been of the children of Joost and Josina, because there were exactly 9 males and 3 females, and the birthdays were in sequence and age difference. What do you think?

We covered most of the Langkloof during our trip to the region. 🍎🍐 You can check out Episodes 286 to 294 if you haven't seen them all yet. 🚙😁 We won't be returning to the area any time soon, there are just too many other places waiting to be explored. I gather Braamfontein is a farm. We didn't cover any particular farms in detail in any of our Langkloof videos. We also paid a brief visit to Uniondale in Episode 84 if you're interested. Thank you for watching!
