I think the average full power bike is closer to 25kg, maybe more, specially with this trend of 800Wh batteries. If (average) bikes were around 22kg I doubt we'd be having this whole trend for SL's...

I'm a retired airline pilot, so I'm tired of having to choose between an ebike and a fully restored P-51 Mustang!
I just checked out the $6000 (U.S.) Elite 3. In a medium, it's 45 pounds, 11 ounces or 20.7 Kg. That's very reasonable! Nice and quiet, good app adjustability. This could be the one for me! Buy 2 and have enough left over for 2 range extenders.
Honestly, this bike at $6k is way more impressive than an 18.8Kg bike no one can afford!

    • @embn

    • @briandriscoll1480
      @briandriscoll1480 ปีที่แล้ว

The Orbea Rise (60nm torque) lets you choose from two 'profiles', each of which includes three power parameters (kinda complicated to describe). I use the full-power profile for trail riding with hills. For xcountry or rail trail stuff, the low-power profile lets me ride with minimal assist for extended range, but still gives me up to, in my setup, 42 nm if needed.

When you (when I ) ride an e-bike, typically the motor power is only on part of the time when needed. Specialized thumb control allows power levels from 0-3 so you can turn it on and off while riding. Thus, battery life is many, many hours instead of what is published.

    Hi Steve, love the video.
But there's 3 fundamental questions every E bike rider or perspective E bike rider needs to know, which you guys omit frequently.
1st what is the total ride time during the test / making of video.
2nd What modes is the bike riden & what proportion of time while making the video.
3rd what percentage of battery was used.
This goes for testing E bikes mountain, road or gravel. Thanks

Ill be happy to continue to use my 18.5kg hard tail. At 700 British pounds out the door, can't go wrong.
Yes it's rear hub motored, cheap Shimano components, restricted to a 7 speed (could go to an 8spd) but at 700 quid ... just gonna ride what I can afford.
I love this channel and am a loyal viewer and subscriber but think a good share of us just can't afford a bike north of 700 pounds.
    I get it.
Love the videos but wish you guys would do a true budget ebike episode with bike below that price point.
    Just saying.
I guess for the most part, nobody thinks an ebike in that price range is worth a mention.
I have watched the episode on budget ebikes but still think (imo) most of us can't afford what EMBN considers 'budget'.

    not true.
Are you comparing the wrong rotwild model intentionally to make the giant a winner?
Rotwild has a similar model, this is RX 375. he is also 140 mm.
    RX 375 weighs about 18kg!
Giant did the same thing that Rotwild did in 2021. so this bike is not unique.
In 2021, the Rotwild was blowing an analogue bicycle, rotwild rx375. 18 kg with a shimano ep8 85hm motor. it also has a small 360 battery, but it's easy to remove as well.
besides, it was possible to buy 1 or 2 additional batteries for the rotwild, increasing the battery capacity to 720 or 980 !!! what not to do with this bike..

Also, the argument that motor weight doesn't matter because of tyre weights is crazy and nonsensical. It's a good thing they made a bike that have the features that are desired, but come on man you are overselling this so hard.
