    You can't see it on the video but while Simba's and Nala's actors are singing "can you feel the live tonight?" Timon's and Pumba's actors are on the side of the stage playing with flowers and other things like that and i think that's precious .

    Areas of Improvement
    1) Movements
    2) Symmetrical shapes
    3) Drums should have been covered with stone colour paper
    4) Group dance isn't giving effect
    5) Body language and characterization are missing

    Plusieurs chansons proviennent de la comédie musicale de Broadway : « Nous avons également eu la chance d'ajouter plusieurs titres emblématiques de la comédie musicale : d'une part « Shadowland », la chanson de Nala, et d'autre part « Endless Night » et « He Lives In You », que nous avons décidé de fusionner dans un titre » (Interview de Christophe Leclercq, Show Director du spectacle)

      seen it 3 times now. Waited about 45min Only once I had bad luck and waited more than 60min. They added after the first week additional shows. I think it is now 6 and has been 4 before.

    • @lukehb
      @lukehb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Queue’s during the performances while we were there last week, which was the high point of the European summer holidays were long. We have a disability pass, and we’re still advised to get there at least 45 mins before the show, though realistically, 30 would probably have been fine. That said, people in the regular show were being advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before the show to even stand a chance, though again, I think if you were there around 45-60 before, you’d have stood a chance. However, the theatre is pretty low capacity (only around 1400 people) do it’s pretty hard to guarantee anything.
      That said, we typically watched the 4:05 PM showing, so left the theatre at around 4:40, and they were still allowing people into the cattle pen area for the 5:05 pm showing. Perhaps because it clashed with the main parade at 5:30, getting into this showing didn’t seem to be quite so daunting.
      If you absolutely want to see it though, it’s an incredible show live, so the premium lion king package, which includes the priority seating for the show, a character dining meal, and a special Minnie Mouse meet and greet, may be worth it (if they are still available). It’s not cheap, but guarantees you seats, and an incredible view.

    The costumes are great, the drums platform design is creative, however I feel the performance space is to large when you don't have the people to fill it. It could have been a bit smaller both width and height. I will give credit to the choreographer for putting a Charleston dance move transitioning into gospel. My biggest grip is that Disney once again adds cirque du soleil aerials to its shows, they add nothing and the show would have worked without them because just like cirque du soleil, once you have seen it done once, you don't need to see it again.

    • @Erkiazz
      @Erkiazz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well, I quite disagree with you on the last point. My family and I are dancers, sewers (I don't know if the right word, sorry for that), artists and gymnasts and we really love the Cirque du Soleil, so the fact that they included circus in the show is really nice for us. We're french and we have passport so we can go to the parcs whenever we want, we have already seen the show like 5 times and we will continue that way, cuz we love how sing dance and circus just meet to make this beautiful show goes right.

    why are they singing in english @ disneyland paris?do they have shows in different languages?

    • @lukehb
      @lukehb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      tyroneuniqua lalalaz. Generally at DLP they have snows which are either partly in English and partly in French, or multiple versions of the show in English for some performances, and French for others. However, this show is all in English, with the exception of lines sung in Swahili or other African languages in the original songs.
      It’s not the most popular decision with some of the locals I was chatting to, but generally they understood why the choice was made for this show. I guess the English versions of the songs are a lot more iconic than the French ones, and when you’ve also got parts of songs sung in African languages, adding another language (French) to the mix would have probably robbed some of the mystique and power from these parts.
      The show apparently features performers who have been in the Broadway and West End productions of the musical according to Mark Huffman, the artistic director for the festival, and a lot of performers from the African continent, and I guess the choice was made to go with the best possible performers rather than limiting themselves to those who were English/French bilingual, or having a separate English and French cast.
      It is also running primarily over the summer holidays in Europe, which is the main time people from across the continent come to the park. While on most days, around 70% of guests in the park are French locals, during the summer this is not really the case, with English, American, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and other tourists outnumbering French speakers. In many of these countries, if not their first language, schools teach English as a second language, being the “lingua Franca” of the western world. This is also true in France, so by having the show in English, the most possible people have a chance of understanding it.
      Their other show for this season, the Jungle Book Jive is bilingual in English and French, (as well as parts sung in Indian dialects), as is Mickey and the Magician, the main live show in the other park, so French natives still have a lot to enjoy.

    Très déçu par cette production du "Roi Lion" à Disneyland Paris. Il semblerait que le parc investisse moins d'argent dans la création et production de leurs spectacles et c'est bien dommage car ce spectacle méritait beaucoup mieux. L'absence de décors font de ce spectacle une version "cheap" du superbe musical que l'on peut voir à Londres ou à Broadway. Dommage !
