i got you beat! bought mine recently in portland, 2010 ms3 sport, unmodified (sans hpfp) for $3500, has 126k miles and hpfp internals came installed w/ receipts from a reputable shop. came with an accessport, corksport intake, battery box, damond egr blockoff plate, some other minor things in the trunk, no extra cost. i just had the vvt done by a guy who works at corksport (mateo) as it had chain slap and it runs like an absolute champ. compression numbers (jdm swapped in engine) are just about 175 across the board. i miss my ms6 dearly, but the speed3 is so, so fun.
Make it your mission to get the PCV valve under the intake manifold replaced. These things are unreliable because the factory PCV is a pile of garbage that never gets replaced because of its placement. It pulls oil into the intake, burns insane amounts of oil which kills the turbo bearings/seals and later spins a connecting rod bearing. The PCV issues are 10x worse when the engine is modified with an intake/exhaust because the extra flow sucks more oil from the crankcase. If you wanna catch can it go ahead but PCV is most important on a used MS3.
I bought mine almost 4 years ago, high milage, with intake, exhaust, cobb motor mounts+sway bars+lowering springs. Honestly, it's been an ok experience and the only major issue was the timing chain tensioner. I've put in 14k miles and so far so good. I'm not saying heavily modded ms3s are the way to go but if you know your stuff and if the previous owner knows their stuff it's a pretty good gamble tbh
I just bought one 2013 White Mazdaspeed3 tech pack with black 18.5 work wheels. Just for $1200 yeap $1200 only The seller says the trans is bad and the motor had a bad misfire because shaking like a crazy. Well end of the history all was a bad rear motor mount. I put all 3 new motor mount and problem resolved 🤯 Trans and engine work perfect now
Welcome to the headache club lol. Mine snapped a rod in November. I just finished building a block full of goodies 2 weeks ago. Shes got 400miles so far 😅
@Dyl_With_A_Cam no clue actually. Block had about 170,000 miles on it. 40,000 of which was with intake-exhaust-hpfp and a 20psi ko4 tune. But I was otw home from a hiking trip with my wife and kids, cruising down the highway 65mph for 40min, not doing anything stupid at all. Stopped at a red light, idled fine for the light, light turned green and I slowly started to pull away (2nd in line) and I got 15-20 ft and the rod started knocking like mad.
Here’s the bad part about purchasing a vehicle that’s been heavily modified. IT WILL NEVER RUN AS GOOD AS FACTORY INTENDED. Therefore you’re only buying time for it to breakdown later on as you drive it, especially if it’s going to be a so called “ Project car “. I personally own a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 and have taken care of this puppy since I first purchased it brand new. It still serves me well with no issues at all. Everything still stock, with the exception of only visual mods. I.e. tires, wheels, carbon fiber hood, suspension enhancements, and rear wing lip. Kept all maintenance records, I.e. oil changes, etc. and still runs pristine. Unfortunately when people do extensive mods to engine, exhausts, and the whole “ tuner “ bit, it breaks the engine down faster, and loses longevity. Good luck in your project build brotha. Hopefully you’ll be able to get what’s left out of the life of the car 😎🙏👍
You're absolutely right. The stiff motor mounts, trash suspension, and loud af exhaust make the car a lot more miserable vs a stock speed. Although the engine bay is modified I wouldn't call it "heavily" modified. It's mostly bolt ons with HPFP and a tune. It does make more power than stock but its still the stock K04 turbo and stock engine internals. I'm definitely going to need to tear into the engine some more in one of these video's. I'm sure you can tell this car is going to need a lot of work. As for the life left in the car, I don't see it dying anytime soon. There's always the option of a motor swap or rebuild if the time comes. 👍👍
Please keep it up, your videos deserve much much more views fr
I'm trying to upload at least once a month 😤
Great video man! I can't wait to see how it will go with the Mazda! Keep it up with this great content!
Thank you! I have a bunch more work lined up for it.

Nice vid great job at cleaning it I just wanna see what it will look like at the end
It's gonna need a lot more than just cleaning

I'll for sure take a look into it. I now have 2 mazdas with EVAP leaks so its definitely on my to do list 😅
Following. Great video man and can’t wait to see the journey.
The journey is a PITA rn but more is coming
LOVE THE SPEED 3 , I HAVE A 2012 MYSELF
I like the interior on the 2012 and 2013 speed3's more. I might have to swap over some parts to mine 👍
Mine is currently in the body shop getting a respray. Hadnt driven that car for about 6 months but plan to refresh it and do some tasteful oem+ mods
Great video! I have a MPS (Aus) 3 BL too. Bought it for 8.4k Aud which was a steal. Good luck with the Zoom Zoom
Zoom Zoom 👍👍👍👍👍

It sounds like we have pretty similar setup speeds. Bolt ons + tune. This car is modded but still stock turbo and no aux fueling.
Nice video bro, love the vibes 🔥
There was a lighter in mine too when I cleaned at first LOL
always the effin lighter

Wanna trade?
Damn I got the deal of the century on my MS3!! Got mine 2 months ago for $2k. full bolt on stage 2 tune. Kw coilovers. Clean title one owner
Its fully driving at $2k!?!!?
@@SavidDanders tpms light is on because of no sensors. Only issue with the car. Original owner was over the car after a small rust spot appeared
what did you use to get the stickers off
Soapy woter and a razor scraper
whats the suspension set up?
I DONT recommend the suspension but its on Raceland Primos
4000$ is a steal man. Like you said new motor still cheaper than a lot you’ll find with that same spec!
Exactly. $4k, clean title, running and driving + some mods I was going to do anyway.
i got a p much stock first gen for the daily rn :) nice to see someone making content on these things
I should've gotten a stock one! Enjoy it
great vid deserves more views
Appreciated! It's definitely doing a lot better than most of my videos.

Hopefully my rods will remain un-snapped. Will have to see in a future video :)
How did you actually snap it?
