My bio is pretty random: In short, I am a professional singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada who moved to Manila, Philippines which sorta became my Hollywood because my first TH-cam channel MIKEYBUSTOSVIDEOS grew popular due to Filipino comedy videos. Meanwhile, I'm also a big biology geek who is obsessed with ants, so I built an internationally operating ant business supported by another popular channel called ANTSCANADA, and well basically, today I travel and tour around the world doing what I love so I wanted to start this vlogging channel, in hopes to encourage you guys to follow your dreams no matter how random, by showing you what happened when I followed mine! sarap nyan nakatikim na ako frog (palakang bukid). .. naalala ko nung maliit pa ako nanghuhuli mommy ko ng palakang bukid... sa bukid pa kami nakatira nun sa Novaliches...ang sarap nya tama ka mikey lasang chicken sya... nag fried mommy ko ng palaka at nagluluto din sya ng may sabaw nun... tagal ko na di nakakatikim ng palaka...

Laotians food are healthy, combined with fresh veggies and spicy, love it.
Really enjoy Mark being on the vlogs. I know running a large company takes most of his time but when he has the time, he fits in so well with the vibe of Mikey's vlogs...plays along with all of the bits. They really have a genuine friendship and it's evident in the vlogs. Some of my favorite vlogs are the ones where they are all together like the Japan trips and when they did the Disney VIP stuff and Vegas I believe. Probably forgot some but hope many more in the future.
I hope you guys had Lao papaya salad. They are known for that. So good!

What a beautiful moth..wow! Reminds me a lot of my childhood, growing up in the province. Seeing caterpillars metamorph into beautiful moths/butterflies with same size (even bigger). That actually was the reason I liked science when I was in school.

I wish I was already following your blog back when you explored Vientiane. I know people there who would have been more than willing to show you guys around for free and they speak English. I used to live there for 7 years 20 years ago working for an NGO. I was excited to find this episode. 😄

I first tried frogs legs when I was in the Australian Navy and my ship went to Madras (now Chennai) in India (in the late '70's) and we went to one of the big hotels and they had this buffet on in a room that looked like a ballroom and the food tables were all around the walls of the room ... maybe 40 tables of different foods ... I found frogs legs and loved them so much I filled up on them they were so delicious and yes they tasted just like chicken

That mall is Vientiane Center. It's huge! It has a place where you can play, it has a cinema, coffee shops, and even an arcade!

The spring rolls and veggies incorporated in the food make it similar to Vietnamese food.

Traveling to countries who dont speak English so hard.. I remember in Paris for the first time my boss let me go to his mom's house.. the taxi driver dont know how to speak english and he yelled at me coz i dont speak french either.

One could say Laotian food creates a hot, sticky situation! 🤣 Aside from the food being delicious (and risky for someone like me), the names of the dishes are thought-provoking and funny. Larb/Laab? Crying Tiger Salad? 😊 Other insects must be huge if the ones we saw are huge...What could the insect delicacies there be? 😳

Laotian food has a bit similarities from Filipino food, looks Dielicious!

Does Authentic Filipino food like to incorporate a lot of bitter elements too? Unlike Vietnamese or Thai food, Lao food is much spicier (Northern and Northeast Thais are Lao-Tai peoples, just Thai citizens now and they are the only ones who eat at the same super spicy level as the Lao east of the Mekong border divide) bitterness, citrus sourness (pickled fermented sour too) and herbal elements in authentic Lao food dishes. Sweet/savory are more foreign influences, especially fried and stir fried foods. From my understanding, we eat more vegetables/herbs (a lot of time on the side just as much as sticky rice) than other Asian cuisines per capita. If you are adventurous eater and traveler who wants to try something that looks different and is not normally seen in other Asian countries, for sure go for authentic Laotian salad dishes like Lao papaya salad or Soop Nah Mai (Spicy Sesame bamboo shoot salad).
