For me this is simply the greatest game ever made. Perfect soundtrack, easy and perfect gameplay, balanced progression, and it has a genuine reason to make you replay the game over and over with a bunch of Easter eggs and unlockables. Look at the game industry now. Nothing comes close!

I can't ever go back to the early THPS games (since I grew up playing THPS4 and onward) but I'm sure if I was there, in the moment, when these games were the new ish, I'd hold 2 in the highest regard like so many others.
i have a similiar feeling with the colin mcrae rally games that released for the ps2. i played them as a kid, I was absolutely terrible, now I beat the a.i in that game easily.
I hate how they've done away with the iconic memorable sound track in the main menu in the remake. I will never get tired of hearing it and that's why I'm doing a play through of it on the ps1.
Fair enough I guess, but the THPS 1+2 Remake is objectively one of the best and most faithful remakes of any game series. Especially after the other HD remakes prior, I had low expectations, but they went above and beyond in nailing everything that made the game special in the first place.
I played for over a year the THPS2 demo because it was the PERFECT demo and Marseille is the best park, period. I did purchase it later when I had money, and the XBOX years later. I even purchased the GBA port, it's was different and limited but it blew my mind to play isometric THPS2 everywhere.

I remember the first time i saw tony hawk 2(that's how we called the game) was on the Playstation Magazine. I was skating myself back then and the game made a great impression on first sight. Some time later i had a go on the game on my best friend's brother console. Then i had my psx modded with a modchip and tony hawk 2 was one of the first 3 games i bought(the ones i chose were circled on the magazine :D ). The thing i remember the most was me trying to hit the jump on the school level in order to get the secret tape. Probably because i couldn't hit the sick score or whatever to unlock the next level xD. I remember i hated the new york city level because it lacked the vert ramps i was good at. At some point a friend of mine showed me how to combine tricks with manual....and then i became almost a pro skater at this game :D hahaha
tony hawk pro skater 2 is like The Game of many popular games in my place. Everywhere I go, be it family or friends, there's always THPS2 along with Tekken 3 and Crash Bandicoot. THPS2 really introduced me to a Skating game and I played a lot of the sequels, even some of the bad ones. Its such a great game I had so much fun memories with this game in my childhood.
I saw papa roach in 2009 and I had my shirt completely ripped open and had to go back home shirtless on the bus... No regrets. This games sound track is a big part of me.
Maybe it was because of my poor PC but the special bar was invisible for me so I played literally hundreds of hours and only did a special trick once, by accident. Needless to say I never managed the higher SICK scores in later levels.
My dad bought a PS1 and this game on release pretty much. And he never touched it. Made me wonder why he bought it all because it wasn't for me. But nontheless, I got to play it and always played this when I visited. With cousins too.
THPS 1 & 2 is so good that the remake removed the cheats, secret characters and 3 of the classic songs and it went from a 98 rating to a 96 rating, I dare you to find a game this good after being stripped down
