But I think it's cool that I know all the capital cities, world cup winners, first 30 elements of the periodic table etc etc. Might you have a chip on your shoulder about education perhaps?

I always wondered too if this was supposed to be tied to the tattoo episode. Even if it is, though, I don't think that episode ever suggested that Andy had made up the 8% growth from that, they had just met Jim's insane numbers for rewards. This was a fairly interesting episode though.

Doing a rewatch of the Office has shown me that despite the conventional understanding that season 8 was a low point in the series, so far there have been some pretty good episodes in the season. The episode was funny and for me personally it coincided with the start of a long stretch of me attending pub trivia nights that only ended when the pandemic hit.
Kind of like this one as my wife loves trivia and I often suspect I might have brain damage, but I still end up attending a lot of bar trivia events with competitive weirdos who know too much about like Andrew Jackson but couldn’t change a tire if you paid them. So seeing smug Oscar get his is oddly satisfying to me.
I disagree with you that this would have been better with Carrell. The benefit of an episode like this was that it gave us a chance to focus on the other characters. I do not think the writers would have done that during the Michael era especially since Michael has such a loud personality. That is why there are so many episodes where he is just separated from the main cast and everybody else has a chance to just react to things.
Can’t watch the clip right now, but I think the point was that if Carrell was in the episode, the IMDB ratings would immediately jump up (not my rating).
