When you do science, you have to put aside religion. You must exclude the divine from your theories about the world. Once you bring in the supernatural, you can explain anything, but none of your explanations can ever be confirmed, since you’re using ideas that go beyond your human sense. There is a Pakistani physicist who has shown some ridiculous efforts in recent years at a university in Pakistan to apply the methods of physics to the nature of paradise. Being a Muslim means you have to indulge in such nonsense.
In truth, non-Muslims of the developed world excel Muslims in every sphere of life, while the circumstances are fast worsening for the Muslims of the world. The reason is because the Muslims rely on the supernatural and the metaphysical, the majority of non-Muslims in the developed world base all their inferences on naturalism, the foundation of science.
A number of the leading Arab scientists were also quite irreligious and even hostile to religion in their day. One of the great physicians of the golden age of Islamic science, Persian Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi, wrote a book saying mankind would be better off without religion.
Ibn Sina or Avicinna another great physician, philosopher and scientist, his views were in sharp contrast to central Islamic doctrines and he rejected the resurrection of the dead in flesh and blood. As a consequence of his views, he became main target of Al-Ghazali and was labeled an apostate.
Omar Khayyam, one of the greatest mathematicians, astronomers and poets was highly critical of religion, particularly Islam. He severely criticized the idea that every event and phenomena was the result of divine intervention. Like all free thinkers he was denounced as a heretic.
Ibn Rushd or Averroes from Spain was a philosopher and scientist who expounded the Quran in Aristotelian terms. He was found guilty of heresy, his books burnt, he was interrogated and banished from Lucena.
In the golden age of Islamic science, they weren't doing Islamic science but they were doing science! Today, Islamic innovators are only better known for turning Western technology such as cell phones and airplanes into instruments of mass murder in the name of Allah and Islam.
Always fascinating to hear about the miracles of life and complexity of nature, based on an Islamic understanding. All the more reason for us to be grateful to Allah. Allahu Akbar.

I just wanted to clarify a point that was presented in this beautiful discussion. You Asked the honorable Dr. Musharraf Hussein about the meaning of the word “brother” in this Hadith "No one of you becomes a true believer until he likes for his brother what he likes for himself". The Sheikh answered that the word “brother” includes all human beings and he continued to say that “we are the brothers and sisters of the Japanese, Chinese, Indian…we are actually all brothers and sisters.”
Imam Nawawi In fact explained this Hadith and said the word “Brother” means “Brother in Islam.” You can find his explanation in Al-Minhaj bi Sharh Sahih Muslim (2/15 45). Furthermore, Ibn Hajar al-asqalaniin in his famous book Fath-Al Bari also said that the word “Brother” in this hadith means “Brother in Islam.” In addition, Al-Shafi'i interpreted this verse of the Quran “The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy (Al-Hujuraat:10) and said, “Allah made brotherhood between the believers, and he cut brotherhood between believers and disbelievers” (Kitab al-Umm: 6/40). Finally, Ibn Taymiyyah, Al Albani, Ibn Uthaymeen and Ibn baz also declare that it is not permissible for a Muslim to call non-believers brothers.
Brother Paul, you will not find one known Tafsir book, Fiqh book, Hadith book or any type of Islamic literature that calls Muslims and Non-Muslims brothers. Tolerating other faiths is a crucial part of Islam. Wanting the best for all humanity is Islam but calling non-Muslims “Brothers” waters-down the greatest Injustice of all, which is Shirk.
“And [mention, O Muhammad], when Luqman said to his son while he was instructing him, "O my son, do not associate [anything] with Allah. Indeed, association [with him] is great injustice." (Luqman:13)
The aim of the current liberal assault on faith is to normalize Shirk in the world. Saving Humanity from this injustice is our mission as Muslims. And the best of Muslims are the companions of the prophet and the 2 generations that follow them. They didn’t call a non-Muslim a “brother” in those time and we shouldn’t start now.

Absolutely it is important we have to be careful and to be careful in what we say and mean. I think the honorable Doctor understands and made clear that the Hadith does relate to brother in Islam however he goes on to talk about brother in a biological sense and from an origin sense Muslims and non-Muslims are all descendants of Adam.
The Universality of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (saw) was sent to all mankind is recorded in many ayaat in the Quran just two make that clear Suraah Al’Araf [7:158] and Suraah Saba [34:28]. In fact this respect for humanity, for all of Allah’s creation was deeply embedded in our noble Prophet something for all of us to follow and is the foundation for doing dawaah and outreach. Belief in Allah, humility, kindness and good speech are key to all our actions.

Talk about burning brain cells when you're angry! I know it feels therapeutic when you give...and I remember one famous boxer saying whenever he was ANGRY to build himself for a fight he ' quote felt detached and DEHUMANISED!
Its good to see sciencetific findings which confirm what Qur'an has been saying, but i find it very uncomfortable when i see many muslim nowadays are so preoccupied with this genre. We dont need scientific validation about our belief or practices.

I love this, however, often times helping people on a larger scale, for example doctors or those who are working at refugee camps to improve lives of refugees aren't swimming in a see of oxytocin and love. Medical field is extremely strenuous and people in those fields are more likely to be stressed with high cortisol levels because they are faced with real problems that require real solutions.
While I loved this interview, I think the oxytocin-inducing sort of compassion Dr Musharaf Hussein talking about is applicable in situations such as gifting your neighbor a cake or anything along that line.
Sorry if my comment seems harsh.

Unfortunately this study wasn't published in Science Journals or made it to Time Magazine back in the day. Everyone should be reading the Quraan as the Cautions are within, but " who is it that will remember "

No you get it wrong we are not expected to have god like characters this a Christian idea this is wrong completely, god attribute are what is befitting of god which is things that are sometimes completely forbidden for us what we are expected to have is which is befitting of god worshippers the manners of the Prophet (pbuh) not to become as god but to be come as someone who god compliment his manners the manners that we are supposed to have is the manners of worshiper rather then the manners of god this is a really bad idea that your saying read the Quran

Part of the requirements of the submission (among other things such as believing in one God) is to be kind, generous and forgiving. Because there are many Quranic verses exhorting us to do so. We don’t choose and pick what we want from the Quran. We follow it in its entirety. When we obey God, we also uphold moral ethics and principles.
There are an abundance of verses about doing good, being kind, giving, charity, serving, and developing highest of character . Included are versed forbidding evil, ie oppression, hatred , stinginess, selfishness etc

Actually Allah created us to worship Him .
"I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." [51:56]
This involves LOVE because you only worship what you love. Fear is just opposite wing because there always is an element of fear when obeying an authority.
Especially your creator , creator of the Worlds . You can’t go higher than that. You have to love Him to worship Him but also fearing Him to build strength against worldly evils and temptation
