  • Your old friend may have stopped working after you've changed its washer. The culprit is not the new rubber gasket. After you have used your moka pot for a few years, its funnel can not fit into water tank. The vapor escapes and the coffee is not extracted.
    Watch this video to know about a simple method to fix your moka pot.

    You helped me identify my problem! I wound up just stretching the basket back into place with my hands slightly and now I’m back in business. Appreciate it brother!

    I am concerned about the microplastic it could potentially be generated by heating the plastic, also this solution how long does it last? How often do I need to do this to fix the moka?

      @@thekey_ Hey! Man, I didn't get it to work. Im not sure I got the right sort of tape though. Is it crucial that I use this "PTFE" tape?

    It's important to use "Food grade" or "potable water" tape, as not all PTFE tape are created equal.

    Thank you for the video, but i have a question.
    Is there any risk ok explosion due to the pressure ?

      No, there isn't. Your moka pot already has a safety valve that releases accumulated pressure 😊

    PTFE tape can leach PFAS. Terrible idea

    But do you think its safe ?? Does water come in contact with the tape

    • @thekey_

      Good news. It should be safe. PTFE tape is already in use in all piping systems, from our homes to our offices.

    👎 1. Sand down the lower chamber a bit 2. Replace the white seal with the silicon one.

    Hi, I don’t understand why my moka pot once worked and now doesn’t. Before seeing your video I actually bought a new funnel and I’ve changed the seal and still it’s not working I can just see steam and hear a loud boiling sound. Any ideas ?

    • @thekey_
      @thekey_  ปีที่แล้ว

      New funnel and new seal, but it doesn't work! 😃 This is one of those problems for which I need to see and test your moka pot. What I guess is that, there are tiny changes in designing and producing new moka pots. These are helpful for new buyers, but make the sealing of older ones nearly impossible.

    • @Iremnaz786
      @Iremnaz786 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thekey_ Yes you could be right. The sad part is it was only 4 months old. Anyways I had no choice but to order a new pot hopefully this one will last me longer than a few months. Can the safety valve cause problems?

    • @Iremnaz786
      @Iremnaz786 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thekey_ The plot thickens! I got a new pot and it’s still doing the same I’ve tried 2 different coffee types including the Illy one which specifically states for moka pots but it does feel like a finer ground. I’m going to try another coffee for the 3rd time, wish me luck!

    Or replace filter and gasket.

  • @mauricioordaz
    @mauricioordaz ปีที่แล้ว

    is there a long term solution to this problem?

    • @thekey_
      @thekey_  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there is. Use PTFE tape for a while. Then check the sealing ring after a few weeks. You will notice that the seal has become thicker and seals the gap perfectly. At this point, you don’t need to apply PTFE tape until you want to change the washer again.
