  • This is the largest gold nugget and cleanup ive ever had!! i used my homemade dredge with a 3 inch hydro force nozzle.the water was ice cold but we were on the gold and we knew it, i tried getting as much material as i could off that blue clay that acted like false bedrock. next time we go tot he creek i will put more wire or make something were the nozzle doesn't clog as much but until then i am working on coker creek part 2 so dont forget to click subscribe and stay tuned in for this journey, i hope you enjoy this video and as always i will see you on the next adventure!

    KyLe~I really like that sound underwater and the rock getting sucked up. The bubbles and echos! Best childhood memories of dredging Wolf CreeK with my dad. I loved that place! Thank You

    One trick I found when dredging close to bedrock in shallow non-swift water is breaking up gravel with hand tools and wipe off clay on bigger rocks before raking larger rocks away. After raking away all the larger rock in a large area or crevice then bring in the dredge to suck up all the gold and small gravels and sand. Sometimes its a lot quicker with a lot less rock jams. The more material you work the more gold you get in a good spot. Take a small hand garden rake for narrow areas and a large garden rake for larger over burden areas and see if its not faster.

    Only trying to help. When you brush your fingers upstream against the flow in your sluice trying to clear gravel out you disturb the hard pack of black sand and gold at the bottom of the swirl which throws it back into the turbulent flow and right out the end of your sluice. If your going to do that (and don't do it very much) brush with your fingers pointing upflow and brush lightly making a motion towards the end of the sluice. Trust me, this will save gold. Look at it this way, the only place gold likes as much or more than behind riffles in a sluice is where the water allows it to fall, usually where two current seams come together and with other gold. We have all seen gold sitting behind a screw in a sluice on flat metal, won't move. Just imagine screwing that natural spot by sticking your hand in there, changing the flow. Great video, best of luck.

    I invested in a dry suite, when I use to be able to dredge. Here in Washington state our season for dredging is very limited. Usually 2 weeks to a month long. This is teh BUSY time of year at work, so I'm unable to schedule time off to go dredging 😢

    I'm telling you Kyle, there has to be a outcroppings down there. That gold looks to big to be glacier till. I struggle to find a piece as big as the smaller stuff in the pan up here in Iowa. Congrats and you did a helluva lot better than I could on keeping quiet.

    • @pnwRC.
      @pnwRC. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds about like my old Keene 3 inch dredge. I'd LOVE to go again, but I CAN'T get time off to do it, with my career. I'm thinking this year I may sell the dredge, along with the air pump, pans, shovels, buckets, & spiral wheel! I'd rather see to go to someone that can make use of it than have it sit here NOT being used

    Get the kind of chest waders that don't have boots, then put a pair of leather boots over them and a set of knee pads like roofers use, your waders will last longer and cost less.
