  • Finally driving the car for the first time and seeing it cleaned up in daylight. There's a few issues with the car that need to be sorted out and decided to have my friend David take a look at it. David is a former Toyota / Lexus tech that is pretty well experience with this platform and I wanted his opinion of the car and have him run the diagnostics on it. What's wrong with it? Watch and find out.

    I have a 2008 IS250 and it runs good at 129k miles. The only issue I had was that I needed to change the water pump, it was due for that. I had to also change the PCV valve and MAF sensor, do a transmission drain and fill, and replace a faulty ABS wire. Just routine maintenance stuff. I love this car, and plus it looks awesome for its age.

      Congrats on having a good running i250. Not sure if you’ve been watching the videos on it, there’s quite a few issues with mine that I’ve been sorting out as I’ve had time. It’s a great car in all honesty. I’ve owned a w203 Mercedes and f30 3 series. All the cars are in the same category while the bmw is newer. I think the lexus shines for its age overall.

      This is honestly a great car I have 205,000 miles on my 2007 Lexus I S250 all-wheel-drive and had the same notification that Check cvs For me it was new radiator going bad that signaled thought warning code so I would definitely check that and after getting that fixed at 160,000 miles it’s been driving stream Lee great. I bought this car with less than 100,000 miles it has gotten me over 100,000 miles and still driving strong. It’s the first generation Lexus I S250 so there are some little issues however with my experience they are way less than a lot of other vehicles. Sending you best of luck bud

      @@RawJavi Thanks for the insight. I believe this car is a great car. No car is perfect and staying on top of the maintenance on any car is key. I do have some upgrades on the way to help with it's reliability..

    I like the advanced diagnostic tool your friend has. It tells everything you need to know about the car. My friend has an IS250 and everything checked out fine at 140k miles. The one thing that didn’t though? Two emissions codes. That was fixed by changing a couple sensors. I forgot what it’s called but yeah, that diagnosis tool is incredibly useful. I think I want one but they’re very expensive I think. I only have a basic OBII scanner.

      My friend has Toyota tech stream. It’s a Toyota dealerships tech’s official software / diagnostics system. His is an older version but it works fine on a 15 year old car. Definitely a great piece of software to have handy.
      Glad your friends is250 has minimal issues. Mine… not so much 😅

    Sorry to see you had to deal with some issues when you got your Lexus. I love my Lexus! I drove my 2008 IS250 for Uber and Lyft for one month. I felt like it was blasphemy to drive such a nice car for rideshare. So...I bought a slow 2018 Toyota Yaris for my rideshare gig. I kept my IS250 and I think it's pretty luxurious. Faster and far far more luxurious than the small Yaris that's for sure! I love the wooden grain touches that scream luxury! Meanwhile, my Uber Yaris is all plastic and cheap inside.

    • @M2Motoring

      Hi. the original dash was done under recall by the original owner, so I didn't have as much of an issue but it did start showing signs of the issue. the door panels certainly were showing the issue.

      Or a dumb one 😂🤷‍♂️. That’s the world we live in unfortunately at this time. When I bought this car last year all the local is250/350 were in way worse shape visually with way more miles for more $. It’s insanity in our current time. All in all it was an “ok” deal for what I paid for the car

    Hey, did you sort out the solenoid issue? I've already changed 3 solenoids on my IS250, but the problem keeps coming back.

    • @M2Motoring
      @M2Motoring  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi I have not yet that’s on the very near to do list. I’m currently debating just coughing up for a used low mileage transmission . Which brand solenoids did you go with? I spoke with a few other is250 owners that did the solenoid swap with success.. so I’m still debating this one.

    • @sraigtasnarglis
      @sraigtasnarglis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@M2Motoring I've been thinking about a transmission change, but a proper transmission in my country costs around a 1000 euros, so I really don't want to do it. I didn't choose the solenoid brand myself, I just went to the Toyota dealer when I got this issue and they suggested a repair shop which specializes in fixing automatic transmissions, as they don't fix this issue themselves. The repair shop mentioned that some specific solenoids are almost impossible to find, especially new, so they replaced them with used ones as well.
