      Strange that this was the first thing that I can remember seeing Leslie Nielsen in. Particularly before Airplane.

    Maybe he should go to the hospital.
    "The hospital! What is it?"
    "A big building with patients, but that's not important now."

    One of my favorite Columbo lines: “Alright, fellas, give it to me for a minute, I’ll give it back to ya.” Such a boss!🕵️‍♂️

    William Link said that they wanted to keep Columbo as an enigmatic, almost mythological figure, almost as if he would emerge from limbo to punish injustice and then return to it. This introductory shot of him casually walking up puffing smoke while backlit is one of the shots that best captures that idea.

    First Columbo I ever saw, right here. Was a little kid, my mother asked me to sit and watch with her just as the episode was coming on. Totally forgot about that until I saw the thumbnail.

    4:22 That logic makes no sense. If he is on his back, then it would indicate he was struck from behind fell on his back and the second killing blow was delivered while he was on the ground. Columbo has absolutely no reason to say the blow from the front occurred first except that the writers needed it to be that way to support the story line. While Columbo is interesting, it is filled with these illogical inconsistencies which lead him to investigate and ultimately solve the murder.
    Please save your comments expressing your outrage at the fact that I have to guts to criticize your godlike icon, Columbo, who can do no wrong, I am not interested.

      Why would the victim fall on his back if he was hit on the back of the head? The victim would fall forward, as he did.
      You would make a terrible detective.

    • @TinyDancer250
      @TinyDancer250 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don't fall backwards when you're hit from behind. Let me guess, Common Core and No Child Left Behind? Told you were brave and amazing for getting a participation trophy and now have the Dunning Krueger Effect? Columbo was written for earlier times and brighter, more educated people.

    • @wayneyadams
      @wayneyadams ปีที่แล้ว

      @@douglasmcginity3327 No, the point is that Columbo had no reason to look at the body and declare he was hit from the front first. We all saw him fall face down, then struck from behind. Since he was found face up the killer had to turn him over after he was dead.
      So, the killer could have struck him from behind, then after he fell forward as he did, turn him over and strike the killing blow.
      Columbo had no way to know which of the two equally likely scenarios happened and yet he confidently declares he was struck from the front first.
      The only terrible detective here is you.
