I work on a central-ish Texas dairy farm and on average we usually grow about 3,000 to 3,500 acres of corn for forage every year, you griping about yalls crop compared to the states crops but yours is a lot better than what we get in a drought witch happens every 2-3 years, its gotten to were almost all of our forage crops are under a center pivot irrigation system to at least have some crop security for our live stock.
Maize in Longford, never knew it could be grown up there. Interesting to see. Very low in height, wonder it's economic results? Used to grow it south West cork without plastic and it was generally up to 10ft in height average and yielded well. Only one good cob needed, second third or more reduces quality.
we used to grow great crops for ourselves without plastic years ago but cant seem to do it any more, also that crop suffered from bad spraying and the weeds chocked it
Liam Flanagan you’ve got a high box and a low bow and some tractors have two low box’s It is basically just a section of the gearbox that make the tractor go slower 🚜
Grand video Challenging conditions. Maize here in Cork looks taller. Wondering whether maize is economic so far north. You’re comentry is interesting 🧐
We grow maize and this year the one with the plastic reached 6-ft high and the one without plastic reach 12 ft high without plastic grows a lot better we are harvesting in two weeks
Good man Philly boy, keepin the woman happy and flah out farming, tis not easy, most lads would let the woman and her washing go be fuckt. But then if i had a woman to draw fodder i’d do the washing aswell.
Ahh Phil another classic lad!!! The subtitles are fekn gas and the craic with the Uncle getting stuck and the "Domestic Duties" etc all make it out to be a great vid altogether!!! Christ jaazus ya are like a child in a sweetshop going on about the Mavic Drone and I hope it goes great for ya fella!! All the best as usual and stay safe ya mad hoor ya!!!
Phil is there a backup camera on your harvester and could that harvester shoot over top of your tractor or doesn’t it really have enough horse power for that?
no theres no camera on the harvester and yes the harvester could shoot over the tractor and more, if you havent already check out this video and youll see the harvesters blowing power th-cam.com/video/3qdv29yNZlA/w-d-xo.html
i couldnt tell you exactly what the tonne/ac was but 15 acres yielded 11 or 12 load so it wasnt great. were feeding ground maize in a balancer ration but no maize silage
We have lots better corn here 2 to 4 ears and 8 to 11 ft averages but grass crops there seem to look like they have better protein but I could be wrong but wheat 50 to 100 bushels per acre and corn 125 to 350 depending on the ground and fertilize program
@@FARMERPHIL3690 that's good then. I'v all ways wanted one but never got one. Think I would have to go for a 550 now same as 135 but just flat floor. Cos my gerry fergie.s I have problems getting on and off now. Trying to find a cheap 550 and a 4 wheel drive tractor long as they run and drive that's good for me. Cos I got bad health problems I just carnt do engine rebuild now do body work and welding. I'm having to pay someone to put a new gearbox in my land rover. And when you no you can do the job. But health just won't let me. Thanks for coming back to me thow.
Great videos but I just cant watch them any more. Having the camera on your head makes me feel dizzy watching it. Maybe invest in a camera mount. Please
we have some but they are still on the shelf haha, my father doesnt like picking up other peoples chat thats why he took them out of the umbilical system
Great advice “you go whatever way is away from it” 😀
The joys of working in soft fields.

Phil is there a backup camera on your harvester and could that harvester shoot over top of your tractor or doesn’t it really have enough horse power for that?
David Whittredge it would probably managed to blow it over the tractor but would be easier on the back of the forager and less waste a would say
no theres no camera on the harvester and yes the harvester could shoot over the tractor and more, if you havent already check out this video and youll see the harvesters blowing power th-cam.com/video/3qdv29yNZlA/w-d-xo.html
Well Phil Great videos, how many tonne/ac were ye getting there? are ye feeding any maize at home? watching in Roscommon,
i couldnt tell you exactly what the tonne/ac was but 15 acres yielded 11 or 12 load so it wasnt great. were feeding ground maize in a balancer ration but no maize silage
Great video 👍
Good video thanks. What does list and listed mean? In relation to tractor and trailer being stuck.
its to do with how much the trailer had sunken on one side
Massey Ferguson power

When the sub titles are on and the 6290 is revving it says music😂
James Mac the subtitles are hilarious with some of the stuff they say 😂
Over 35k views, fair play
thank you
You said that each plant had two cobs on average. how many cobs would they get in say America ?
id reckon 5 at least but im not overly sure of that
We have lots better corn here 2 to 4 ears and 8 to 11 ft averages but grass crops there seem to look like they have better protein but I could be wrong but wheat 50 to 100 bushels per acre and corn 125 to 350 depending on the ground and fertilize program

What part of Ireland are you from
longford
You are the richest person in Longford
Few new trailers this season Phil?
come to cheshire. The maize is like fishing in a bog
tis a wet harvest
What's the biggest tractor ye have
Darragh Mcdonagh a would say the 6480 unless one of the 6290 is screwed
both the 6480 and the 6290 on the baler are screwed so the 6480 is the biggest/strongest
FARMER PHIL a right nice
Might help if you didn't have the camera on your head. Makes it hard to follow. But I love the video. Keep them coming. Cheers!!
im going to try swap the head cam for a chest cam and see if it comes out better, cheers
Waste of time pulling trailer behind harvester. Drive behind him and blow over cab. Less dangerous as well. Mind your hands you only have 2
What Massey were you driving
mf 6290

Great videos but I just cant watch them any more. Having the camera on your head makes me feel dizzy watching it. Maybe invest in a camera mount. Please
