well done, fantastic effort guys, the video captured how miserable it was going up military hill on Sunday but the volunteers with the tea and cakes at the checkpoints made it all better! great ride, Jelly babies for the win!!

@@julie-wheelersatlarge thanks...I was fuelled by giant fizzy cola bottles, snickers and starmix (oh and a hot pukka pie at the rugby club!)! shame the weather put a damper on things but there was just so much positivity from all the volunteers and folks taking part that it was enjoyable in a type 2 way! mega ride from you guys from home and back - big kudos!

Not at all Robin, it's only cheating if you use a car 🤣👍 That was the first time on the road route for us and we shall definitely do it again...👍

Great video.. how do you manage to make the memory card in the GoPro last the full ride? Is it just knowing when and how long to record for?
Cheers Steve 👍 There is certainly some luck involved. Sometimes we know what's coming and other times we have things we want to say. To make editing simpler it's better to have lots of shorter clips which are easier to pick out the interesting bits from.

Apparently Jelly Babies are the key to speed Dan but Julie scoffed the lot 😂 The Randonnee isn't competitive but you can be sure some riders turned up early and smashed it. It's paid for by donations from the riders and any profit goes to local charities. Hoing to go back to the IOW later in the year, fingers crossed for better weather... Thanks Dan

Hi great video, could you tell me if this route is on Komoot please.
The isle of wight randonnee route is easy to find on the cycle island website and is almost identical to the signpostef route around the island. It will be on komoot too I'm sure. Its the Sunday before the first Monday bank holiday of May.
Awesome, I just found your video. we did it the day before you because of the weather, plus we go the opposite way as it clears the climbs out of the way quicker and avoids the bottle neck at the chain ferry, and go any other time in the warmer months, it's just a brilliant ride and day out.
We always enjoy riding on the IoW. We're heading back soon to ride the route in the opposite direction... Some of the guys want to ride off-road too so we have an excuse to go over at least a couple of times this year 😆👍 Thanks for commenting...
@Wheelers At Large Excellent, we only managed it twice last year, but honestly, you could go loads. A good place for lunch is the Wight Mouse Inn, right at the bottom. Enjoy
