Bill is a great guy. I met him on a plane flying to Charleston, SC (about 5 years ago) and we talked about me running the marathon the next day and he mentioned he owned a minor league ball team in the area (hence him flying to Newark airport and back to CHS so much). He walked me all the way to my ride at the airport. It was just small talk; I never asked him about any movies or his acting at all. I think that he liked that I was not treating him like some kind of star or celebrity. We just talked like two guys who have to go to the same place and just talked as we walked. We shook hands and parted. Just a regular fun kind of guy.
I used to fly often and met a number of people that are well known, but rarely spoke to them. I just wanted them to feel normal. After all, they are just people like the rest of us. One came to be a regular acquaintance until some crazed star-struck fan made a ridiculous fuss, and I never saw him again.
This is what flow looks like. We should all hope someday to be so comfortable in who we are that we could communicate this effortlessly. It is beautiful to see.
I think if anything ever happened to Bill Murray the whole world would be in mourning. We all love you Bill and we appreciate all the joy and laughs you’ve given us all over the years.
I remember having the same thought, but first of all, the image most people have of him is from Caddyshack, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, his movies from 30 years ago--so they see him today and are shocked because he's 30 years old than they expect him to be (he will be 70 this year--2020). Secondly, he is a very wealthy man who seems to be content with his life--he doesn't need to work, he works when he feel like something looks fun to do, and he doesn't get caught up in all the makeup and plastic surgery to impress people with an illusion of youth. I'm sure they gave him a little dusting of makeup so the tv lights wouldn't reflect off his skin, but I mean who wears bib overalls to a television interview, unless he doesn't care what we think?
Love Groundhog Day. Wish they would have spent more than fifteen seconds talking about it. Danny Rubin wrote the screenplay but it was Harold Ramis that turned it into the script we know and the movie we love.
@@PurpleSurple Ramis and Murray did eventually make up in some respect. When Ramis was on his death bed, Murray visited him, with a box of donuts in hand. At that point, the aliment Ramis had left him unable to speak, so they shared only a few words, but they did make up in the end.
@Ben Yehudah Alas, I didn't. I ended up getting a Samsung Note9. I've fallen in love with this phone and I hope it never dies on me....I mean it will, but I hope it doesn't. Still, I will wait until it dies.
Bill must be living on a "hard edge"....I'm two weeks older than him, and he looks ten years older than me.....he's also probably having ten times the fun I'm having !
The legacy of Groundhog Day continues to live on because it itself is inside a time loop and within that it still always seems new to the audience and never loses its inexplicable charm or spirituality.
comments on his older appearance must be from much younger people. to them I say, just wait 'til you get in your 60's and see how you look without makeup. forget appearances, he is a beloved and cherished man, and that is all that counts.
+will corker That was a short friendship. The movie caused his friendship? And they didn't reconnect afterward? I guess they didn't click with ghostbusters before?
I assume there's a typo and that "caused his friendship _to_ _fail_ was intended. Murray has always seemed like a prickly character, and I imagine that this movie, with all the repetition, might have been quite wearing to shoot.
They seemed to have a great friendship but Bill got way too obsessive about asking Harol about things. As it goes, Harol was fed up with Bill always bugging him on nearly everything. Then one night (really one morning) Bill called Harol up at 3am on another trivial issue and Harol exploded. From then On Harol forced Bill to call a manager for all correspondence. Bill got offended and broke off the the friendship to Harol's great relief. The moral of the story? Set healthy boundaries and make sure everyone knows what they are. Or suffer less friends and more consequences.
That story sounds like it might have been an inspiration for "What about Bob", with the patient constantly bugging his therapist and even following him on vacation, etc.
Music and mood in this movie is amazing. It rarely happened back then and in movies made these days it does not happen at all. In my opinion. The movie is uplifting in the end and throughout it is very down to earth - people can relate.
Each time I watch Groundhog Day and watch as Murray's character learns to be a decent, kind and caring guy, it serves to remind me that WE don't get a Groundhog Day ... and I try harder to do it right the FIRST time.
Patrick Snowden, I know exactly what you mean. I have never watched the movie and not teared up when he shows Rita the snow bust of her, and they kiss. Phil has finally learned what it means to be humble... 😊😊😊😊😊 GREAT MOVIE!!!
Bill is everyone's friend. A great force of love. He IS my favorite film: "The Razor's Edge." Most important film, by far, the most influential film in my life.
Way back, I thought Groundhog Day was going to be another goofy, funny Bill Murray movie. Wow. That movie is way deep and insightful! Every time I watch it, without fail, I put myself in Phil's (Murray) position and wonder what I would do if I were in the same circumstance. It really touches on the meaning of the important things of life versus the trivial. Really a masterpiece... except I would have liked a longer cut with some of the additional outtakes added for depth.
I met Bill Murray on the street about 35 years ago. I told him how much I love the Ghostbusters. He told me that I could be in the next Ghostbusters with him. Suddenly, I woke up in my bed room. I was 8 then. Best dream I ever had!
Well, he looked 45 when he played doctor Veckman in Ghostbusters and he was 33 when the movie was shot. Now he is 70 and looks 75,so I think he is doing pretty well.
I think it's because these days alot of people invest in alot of plastic surgery, alot of us are raised in a society that has largely banned smoking, while Murray's society encouraged it for along time, and we have a celebrity base trying to keep up with the Kardashian look. So. I just think that subconsciously he's supposed to look 50? When in reality, he looks exactly how he's supposed to look for his biological age.
If Bill Murray as Phil Conners was waking up to relive the same day over again from the beginning, shouldn’t his memory of any and all recollections of the prior day be erased, and his memory of a new day also start all over again from the beginning? 🤔
Bill Murrays a living legend! He was Awesome in Ghostbusters!! And Groundhog day is a classic so many great films from Bill and if u havent seen him in the movie Stripes u cant go all the plants are gonna die!lol
A shame that Groundhog Day was why Bill Murray and Harold Ramis had a spat that lasted way too long. Lies again? Google Drive
Man , Bill is still in his sixties, but he already looks like he's at least 80+ years old.
when you're rich and set for life, it's easy to sit back and let age take you
Is he a smoker?
Foxcutter productions drinking also accelerates age quite a lot.
Smoking and drinking and probably genes...
then you look at andy macdowell and realise she looks arguably hotter now than she did in 1993
Such a down-to-earth wonderful man, just love him.
No face lift! That's not a bad thing.
Met bill in a bar. Wanted a photo. He said only if we switched hats. We switched hats, took the photo and he left with my hat. I still have his.
That is so awesome-what a tremendous blessing to have lived that experience!
Born in ‘75. Grew up with Bill. Thank God he’s still here with us.
Adam Malec What a morbid thought.
@Bob Donald oh heavens I missed it by 5 years. 😭 stfu
Christ he looks old, like all the years he spent in the groundhog day caught up to him at once
He is Feeling cold every day- is he in Miami beach?
I remember having the same thought, but first of all, the image most people have of him is from Caddyshack, Scrooged, Groundhog Day, his movies from 30 years ago--so they see him today and are shocked because he's 30 years old than they expect him to be (he will be 70 this year--2020).

He’s had a skin condition that he’s suffered with . That’s part of it
I am certain he simply did not want to go through make up. and with his fame they had to give in ti his wish,
I think he always looked older than he was (even in his thirties or forties).
Love Groundhog Day. Wish they would have spent more than fifteen seconds talking about it. Danny Rubin wrote the screenplay but it was Harold Ramis that turned it into the script we know and the movie we love.
Bill and Harold had a falling out years before Ramis died so I would be surprised if Murray would mention his former friend in any interview.
@@PurpleSurple Ramis and Murray did eventually make up in some respect. When Ramis was on his death bed, Murray visited him, with a box of donuts in hand. At that point, the aliment Ramis had left him unable to speak, so they shared only a few words, but they did make up in the end.
Bill Murray - Blackberry User
hhahaha seriously...thought that title was a joke at first
I'm thinking about switching from an iphone to a blackberry. I heard the security is good.
my opinion him was already high, but its now deity level

Ok boomer, I see you’re still pretty spry when it comes to judging people.
he spent an extra 12 years in Pauxataney, so, that explains it
lol life of a rich man xD
The legacy of Groundhog Day continues to live on because it itself is inside a time loop and within that it still always seems new to the audience and never loses its inexplicable charm or spirituality.
For the rest of our lives we can be happy every time we think of Bill Murray and his work.
Thank you sweet Lord for Bill.
Bill is excellent in this interview, I'm watching ground hog day Right he now... I've seen at least 59 times it is brilliant and
never gets old.
“We’re the last two people using Blackberries”
*puts blackberry on top of iPhone*

Cheers to that 🍻 I have always adored Bill, his wit and charm are undeniable.
He looks like he's in his 80s
Amen
Steven Price I think the point is that he looks significantly older than he is, but everything you said is 100% true
Steven Price it’s not meant as an insult
He is too good for this world
Just write "Bill Murray Philosophy" on youtube & push the enter button!!!
It is worth watching some of those videos!!!
If you or the "a lot of people" AREN'T his loved ones, "your" opinion has 0 value!
Cliff Hanley It wasn't some piece of fluff. Fym? It was an AMAZING film. I league with Forrest Gump but as a comedy. Very rare.
Cliff Hanley ...what as NOT nonsense iyo?
Cliff Hanley sorry. What is a movie that's NOT fluff then?
I love that Bill is just in a T-shirt and overalls. Pretty much sums up what a genuine dude he is.
I wish he named Harol Ramis who was the director and co writer of groundhog day. He did say it had a great execution so i guess that was it
RageON! It probably bothers him that this brilliant movie cause his friendship with Ramis and they didnt reconnect till ramis was about to die

CNBC never fails to disappoint. You have BILL MURRAY and you ask him about his Blackberry.
I can't watch him do anything without smiling from ear to ear.
I am watching this movie now.... February 2, 2021. I watch it every year on Groundhog Day! It snowed like 8 inches here in Syracuse NY.
One of my favorite guys ever, ever since I was little. Him and Hanks.
Thank you for that classic ❤
I love Bill Murray always will. He's so cool he is so original
Dude.. that guy is a million years old now. Holy cow.
Music and mood in this movie is amazing. It rarely happened back then and in movies made these days it does not happen at all. In my opinion. The movie is uplifting in the end and throughout it is very down to earth - people can relate.
Who left Bill Murray out in the sun for too long?
The Weakest Baldwin I think you mean a nuke bomb shelter underground
@@patrickdesantis5661 trust me budy one day you will know.
He didn't remember coming back to the shade
that man has aged like a grape. it looks like he just finished the actual time he spent stuck in groundhog day
@@Kiproll26 This actually made me laugh out loud good job.
I love Bill Murray’s subtle humor. It’s the humor I prefer over the over the top humor of Jim Carrey or Will Ferrell.
Or Chevy Chase. Jim, Will and Chevy have to both TRY and ACT funny. Bill does not. He is a natural.
Love Bill! He looks so Healthy and youthful.
Are you looking at the same Bill Murray that I am?
at least 40 to 50 people watching it... everything she says is an backhanded compliment.
Bill "F**king" Murray Rocks!!!
Tango Bango so does dave Murray lol
He's only 67 but looks 85
If you polished off a magnum of wine the night before you might look a little rough too!
exactly
Love his films
It was really cool when he did a cameo in Zombieland. It was classic

GREAT MOVIE!!!
Time didn't stop for Bill Murray
one word: ghostbusters
I waited a year before seeing that movie....and it blew my mind. f'n brilliant
His best film is Groundhog Day
How could it not be? It's one of the best films, EVER.
rklewis2 very true
I count it in my top 10 movies, I usually don't like comedies.
Lost in Translation
I prefer Ghostbusters, but GD is indeed great.
Bill should have gotten an Oscar for "Groundhog Day"
Bill looks awesome I'm 61 he looks awesome.. If you don't show your age. You haven't lived.
Bill Murray
"Blackberry User"
Lmao is this all they could come up with?
They tried to plug Apple and failed because Bill Murray isn't corrupt by Hollywood. He can think for himself and uses what he likes and what works.
It's funny, and he;s a comedian, so it's apt
I cried with laughter at this and I don't know why
It’s a joke
If his kids are embarrassed to talk to Bill Murray on the phone, well they don't deserve him.
But to his kids, he's not Bill Murray, he's dad.
They don't see him the way you do.
Maybe they're just humble kids.
They don't think of their dad as the celebrity---they see him as dad. They are regular people in many cases too
most people don't talk anymore because most people are ignorant.

The 60's were sure rough on Bill Murray's appearance at age 67.
Papa Bear
He probably just doesn’t use as much make up as other movie stars in their 60s
Or face lifts.
Love Bill, great actor, great movie, can’t wait till it comes on again.
He still has that boyish smile and a glint in his eye!

Bill Murray!
Bill Murray is a national treasure 👏👏
BILL Murray. Love this guy! No plastic phony Hollywood crap with him. He has a great life and he looks awesome!!
Are you being sarcastic-because he doesn't look very good.
He looks like he hasn't has cosmetic surgery done. He is aging the natural way like James Stewart and some of us respect that.
stop saying awesome
This makes me happy in a way, good man
He needs to know how legendary he is for spanish public
I grew up on Bill Murray - Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Scrooged, Groundhog Day
