    I was clinically obese, with a BMI of 36 & was diagnosed with heart disease, type 2 diabetes & hypertension. 5 years ago I went vegan for the animals & everything changed. I'm 51 & the fittest I've ever been, slim & toned, with a BMI of 23. I have also reversed my heart disease, type 2 diabetes & hypertension & am now totally medication free 😊

I start my day with 100 push-ups before several other workouts and maintain the same lean muscular weight as my twenties. I had an epiphany in 1992 and stopped eating meat/ poultry right away. It took a bit longer to stop consuming seafood (being part Japanese it was challenging to give up sushi- fish). I went meat-free for purely ethical reasons. I became Vegan in 2021 (wish I had done so sooner). I love the health benefits of being Vegan & WFPB but ethical reasons keeps me from ever going back!

    My grandparents had a farm and I loved collecting eggs in the mornings and was friends with Charcoal and Scotty, their two cows. One day as a kid, I glanced out the kitchen window to see Scotty with a bullet in his head, being dragged behind a truck. I was traumatized. Then, later, we were eating dinner and someone said, “You’re eating Scotty. Isn’t he good?” Then they laughed. I may have cried. I can’t recall now. But it made me decide I was going to be vegetarian when I got older and could. I also witnessed chickens getting their heads cut off. I was very abused, and I realize this now.

      Something similar happened to me. Growing up we had a chicken who gave us a lot of eggs. Well, she got old and can’t anymore and she was made into gourmet dish. My grandpa who was the first to go vegetarian was upset and I was sad because I missed seeing our good old chicken. It took my grandpa two years to convince our family to change. He read from a book called “Counsels on Diet and Foods” every day at the dinner table.

    Not veganlinked here, but just want to say that I am no oil, no oil, and avoid sugar and salt. I do this initially for health, and love it. Dr. McDougall says it's better to eat whole plant foods than worry about a little salt or sugar at the table. He suggests not cooking with it. Some people are triggered by salt or sugar, so we abstain. It's all up to you. Do what's right for you, and you'll see what works for you. Lynn

      My wife and teenagers aren't plant-based. I used to be the chef in the house. When I came home abruptly one day three years ago, I proclaimed my veganism and also quit caffeine the same day. I told all of them I will not cook animal products for them anymore, but I will prepare all the plant-based food that they may want. I showed them the movie "Game Changers" and they weren't moved. My son believes all BS from social media influencers and want to add mass. He won't listen to his dear old Dad who lost 165 lbs of fat and gained 20 lbs of muscle in one year. Hmmm. Next up as the father's day gift to me from them, I want us to sit down as a family and watch "Earthlings" and "Soylent Green." My journey originated from me want to achieve higher levels of consciousness and then it was like a thunderbolt hit me after learning about the industry lifestyle etc. Instantly, I was transformed and haven't looked back since. My wife doesn't cook really and my kids learned enough from me that they just cook for themselves. I don't force my lifestyle on them. However, our society makes going out to eat more than it should be. I don't know what happens in the kitchens and what kind of good or bad energy the cook has while preparing my food. I know most restaurant kitchens are really nasty. Once cannot achieve a healthy life by eating death. The poor animals didn't ask to be murdered. Anyway, it would be more fun to travel and vacation and even during our regular time together if we were on the same page for food consumption. We've been married for 18 years now. After our kids graduate (I wanted to pull them out of public school and home school them with the BS of the lockdowns). The schools teach almost nothing that we need to know to become full-spectrum, healthy and happy men and women. I'm not sure what the future holds for us, but I am not changing. She can get on board with me or be left behind. There's so much more to life than this debt slavery system we are under. I don't want to wait one second longer than to chase my dreams. I reside in CA and I want to buy some land in FL and make a fruit forest and have a hemp farm for clothing, building materials etc. (so many products can come from Hemp) I am manifesting the life I've always wanted but I am different now at age 53 (wife is 57) than I was when I was 35. I am always searching for my new tribe of like-minded people to be around. I pray about it and keep living by example. I simple choose the straight and narrow path and choose the seven heavenly virtues over the seven deadly sins on the wide and spacious path. Let food be thy medicine. The fact is the standard american diet is making people fat, sick, sad and depressed/filled with anxiety. Our environment is filled with toxins in all our mainstream big corpsorations products, water with fluoride, chem trails....I could go on. I am working on decalcifying my pineal gland and have recognized that living in non-duality and being in the flow is crucial to my well-being. Semen retention, avoiding porn, no alcohol of course and breath work, grounding, cold plunge therapy....there are so many ways we can help our avatar bodies in this realm. We already are that which we seek. So, soak it all in and enjoy the ride. I hope your marriage/relationship can be what you want it to be.

He supported me with my veganism, and I never pushed him. A year and half later he suddenly decided to start eating vegan. I was thrilled but never asked him why he decided to go vegan until a few months ago. I guess I was afraid that he would eventually go back to eating meat. He never did, and I'm so proud of him. He did tell me that watching his dad die from heart disease made a huge impact on him. I hope your wife will see the light eventually. I am so thankful he changed because I've only gotten more and more commuted to this way of life and I would find it very difficult to be in a relationship with a non-vegan.

    I switched to plant based eating in 2020 at age 60 because of health concerns. The awareness of animal farming practices followed and it makes total sense not to eat animal products of any kind. So thankful for the wealth of information presently available concerning plant based eating. I lost excess weight, memory is better, recovery from exercise is quicker. Although there was much resistance to my diet switch from my spouse, my daughter was already vegan and her support helped a lot.

    I have been plant-based for three years. I don't like using the term "Vegan." I choose to eat food that doesn't have labels. God provides fruit and vegetables and nuts/seeds for us. I don't try to replace my old meat-based foods with lab meat or similar. I recommend going slow, listen to your body. Be observant of how you feel with your food choices. Inflamation from "cooked" food can and will occur in some. Follow your heart and experiment. You won't go wrong with a slow approach but chips, oreos and beyond meat is not the epitome of being vegan/plant-based. That said, don't beat yourself up if you go down a path that doesn't make you feel good. Please be present, observe, and be patient and kind to yourself. Then, you can remove more cooked food and or SOS and go more raw. I'm a high raw "vegan" now but I stlll eat cooked food. I eat cooked potatoes, and I steam vegetables. I try to not "de-nature" my food and use a food dehydrator to warm my food. Also, I do intermittent fasting. I only eat one meal a day and I lost a bunch of weight and have so much more energy, I need less sleep and have wonderful clarity. I get downloads from God with my intuition and peace in my heart. Breath work, grounding and serving others is the way for me. You can do it!

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Good stuff but I don't see anything wrong with the term vegan. Vegan is more specific and comprehensive than plant-based. I imagine it's easy to think that whole food plant-based is more specific. But plant-based could be skewed toward allowing for minimal amount of animal. Whereas vegan would not include any animal. And personally I think the most vegan thing to do is eat whole plant foods because they are the healthiest for the human (humans are animals so we should include them in the equation of what's best and most compassionate), whole plant foods are the least packaged and least processed and therefore least invasive to wildlife and least resource-intensive. So it seems to me the most vegan things to consume are whole plant foods. And we could also grow whole plant Foods on our own which can ensure that no animals are harmed and of course this requires no transportation. ❤️

      @VeganLinked I frankly have never liked labels. So, as "non-animal product eaters" we can get technical and point out the technical definitions of "Vegan" vs. "Plant-based whole food." Further, we can get into Fruigivore vs. herbivore or ominvore, but those discussions debates are only going to confuse and likely alienate the standard American diet folks away. Shaming people, or telling people the terms they use is correct or not correct or means this not that is not of the higher mind. It's not our job to convince people to change. We can ask questions and help people see the ethical implications of the meat and dairy industry and also the benefits to the body of choosing a vegan, plant-based lifestyle. However, certain words can trigger people and their brains will turn off with cognative dissonance if the subject becomes uncomfortable. People who protest with paint or glue themselves to objects and the like just look ridiculous and do not serve to help educate and bring awareness to the masses. I choose to live by example to the best of my ability, have empathy for those seeking a new path away from meat/dairy (remember, most of us were just like them at one point), and offer to help if they would like any kind of support on their new journey. We are all mirrors of each other and co-creators with God on this planet. Changing one's food choices and breaking free from the processed foods and meat/dairy market fiends is a big f'ing deal. I feel like a million bucks when someone asks me how I lost weight and/or why I went vegan. There's your opening and platform to share all the benefits and open their eyes to the horrors of the meat/dairy/egg industry and how good one can feel going plant based.
      I enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work of bringing attention to the lifestyle and having a myriad of interesting guests! Peace and power.

I’ve loved vegetables my whole life. I loved the one main piece of advice for beginners. Eat plenty of food! If you don’t eat enough starch, potatoes, rice, beans, corn as the staple, plus your fruits, vegetables and a few nuts ( unless you’re trying to lose weight). I’ve got Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and I’ve already lost 14 lbs in the first 3 months!! Shocked, considering the super slow metabolism! Just found out from Dr Barnard that veganism actually increases your metabolism! Yay 😀

    i've been vegetarian since 1985, and vegan only since 2019. Giving up dairy was the best thing I have ever done. My chronic upper respiratory issues vanished. No more asthma, bronchitis, acne, ear infections, dry scaly skin, chest pains, etc. The difference in my hair and skin is dramatic. I still struggle with weight loss since I am pretty inactive and love to cook. Going vegan does not necessarily mean being thin, but every day, I get better about cutting down on the breads and nuts (my downfall) and eating more veggies and fruits. I highly recommend giving up the dairy -- that is when the real magic happens!

For all of us who could never otherwise be there or see it... It will be mega inspirational - because for sure the vegans will be "killing it" - plus it will do a world of service for veganism...

    I highly recommend everyone keep track of what they eat on Cronometer. As a vegan, I found out in just a few weeks that I was hitting all of the nutrients, protein and calorie goals easily... and then some.

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for watching commenting and being a subscriber!!! The chronometer is good but it really can be tricky to get set up properly and it's important not to get carried away with it because it's really about consuming these things over time not all in one day and getting a proper variety and doing that through the major groups legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. And sometimes the chronometer can be inaccurate if it's not correct on both your targets being set up and the food item being entered. But it is a great tool nonetheless it helps me realize I need to eat more sunflower seeds for example. And sodium, iodine, etc so I try to get no salt but nori sheets, kelp granules, etc... The main thing is just setting up your individualized RDAs properly, double checking the nutrients of the food your entering, and not worrying about getting everything in one day but instead of the course of 3 days or a week even.... That's just my spiel on it

I enjoyed how her openness and inspiring nature really encouraged the interviewer to open up too. Nice to hear both of them. I remember when I felt that eating all the new vegan foods that came out felt like it would encourage businesses to keep producing more vegan food. A fun kind of activism, but not a great health strategy. Very good interview, felt re-inspired. Nice one, with thunderous applause.

    At a very early age I'd say 8 10 years old, my parents used to buy you could probably still do it half a side of beef. My parents took me to a slaughterhouse where I saw cows beef cows pigs there bodies on a hook hanging upside down. I always thought that they killed the animals because they were old and or sickly. How would I have known if you think about it you don't really eat sick animals. But that was my idea of how and why the animals were there at the slaughterhouse. And just like you I never realized that the cow has to be pregnant just like a human to produce milk. I became vegan for ethical reasons of seeing way too much documentaries behind the scenes in a slaughterhouse. It was just that one time of watching a documentary by PETA that sent me over the edge and vowed and I've kept the promise of becoming vegan. I never was vegetarian I strictly became vegan right away. It's been 28 years and my health has improved though I didn't have health issues. I don't have to take cholesterol medication. Always maintain my weight fluctuating from 120 to 125 lb. Knowing what I know now I wished I could have seen that one documentary that changed my life earlier.

    46:26 Various organisations have been promoting meat-reduction with fairly poor results for decades. I've personally encountered numerous people that have been 'reducing' their meat and animal food intake for years without any significant changes. It often just becomes an excuse and justification to ignore the effects of one's actions. Give people the ideal (veganism) and then let them decide if, or the degree to which, they want to follow it or not.

Yet he keeps eating bacon, chicken beef all of it. It is hard to see and to deal with, but what can I do? I can't force him.... I don't understand how one can continue all of this KNOWING the truth.

    In almost ten years of veganism I would say the main problems people encounter are:
    1) Lack of calories, especially starches like rice, pasta, bread, oats, potatoes etc
    2) Getting into quackery/ excessive fasting/ extreme diets like only fruit/colon cleanses etc
    3) Not taking B12 long-term

    I’m 66 and I went vegan a week ago. I don’t really care what anyone thinks . That’s the beauty of getting old, peer pressure no longer exists.
    I’ve tried vegetarian diets in the past for ethical reasons but it never stuck. I even tried to be a vegan in the nineties and it was very hard back then.
    I recently developed arthritis in both shoulders and it scared me. Very painful and pretty much dominates your life. I started doing the rice diet with rice and fruit two days ago and have already noticed a little improvement. I’m going to stick with it because basically, I have no choice.
    I’m not going to go the regular medical route of steroids and other drugs that have terrible side effects and they don’t cure anything do they? They try to help alleviate the symptoms somewhat and then eventually they do surgeries to replace joints and then more drugs etc.
    I know how to eat this way and I’m going to succeed with the vegan diet. Sometimes in life you just know when something is right.😀

      awesome, a couple things though, dairy isn't ethical really. It is very scary: th-cam.com/video/UcN7SGGoCNI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ffNBiUoPq-lzTVQg
      As for vegan, vegan is a philosophy, not a diet. There's dozens of ways someone may eat that is in line with veganism. So, if you're really going vegan for the animals it seems to be the healthiest way of eating is a whole food plant based diet of legumes, greens, grains, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs & spices and a well planned variety of each. It's not just rice and fruit, or some gimmicky thing, at least that is my understanding. I'm not qualified really though. But, I've interviewed hundreds of vegans and doctors and done this since 2011 and dug as deep as I can the way I personally do things. It seems the totality of evidence supports this as well. I don't know, but I think that a well planned whole food plant based diet would be very anti-inflammatory and helpful for your condition. But, you probably should consult someone that practices lifestyle medicine if you're wanting nutritional advice. You may also like reading this: nutritionfacts.org/topics/arthritis/

      There is a wealth of information on youtube. What do you like to eat? Eat that without the animal products. Vegans are generally overly keen to help, you'll find no shortage of support. Good luck its worth it. ❤

    • @mazzelsammy
      @mazzelsammy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Veganism means that you don't consume/wear/buy/support anything that involves using an animal. When it comes to diet, that means avoiding dairy, eggs, meat, honey, but also gelatin and for example carmine. When it comes to clothes, vegans don't buy leather or wool or silk, etc (but some do when they buy it secondhand. It also doesn't mean you directly have to throw out any leather you own; you've probably paid for it already). Preferably, vegans also don't support cosmetic brands that test on animals, and we avoid going to circuses or zoos.
      Eating no sugar, salt or oils doesn't really have anything to do with veganism, so if you love your sugar, salt, oils (I sure do!), then don't worry about it. If you are interested, however, you can google the wholefoods plant-based diet, which is essentially a vegan diet that in addition to animal products avoids salt, oils, and sugar (processed foods). The wholefood plant-based diet is great for people who are trying to up their health, prevent disease, or heal disease. If you're struggling with any kind of disease, always seek professional help from a healthcare specialist. And remember to not obsess about it. You definitely don't need to eat wholefoods plant-based to be vegan!
      Here is an amazing video for transitioning to veganism: th-cam.com/video/OJxMsypwnqg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PickUpLimes
      Hope this helped!

      I am older and started WFPB for health reasons high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It's been 10 weeks that started as a 21-day challenge and felt so good, made a decision that this a life change. It is a process and a learning curve for what will work for you. Example: I was tired for 2-3 weeks, so I decided to track my food and was not eating enough. I feel fine now, still learning more and more, and that no oil, no sugar, no salt. ( well I do limit oil and salt for health reasons). But I will not go back, I have an appt with my doctor next week to check my numbers. I have lost 18 pounds and even when I eat vegan junk food ( which I do). I still lose inches but more importantly, I can feel the difference. My advice is to start slow and listen to your body.. oh almost forgot I am no longer swollen, hard to explain, must be because I do not have inflammation anymore.

      Here's the deal, I traveled an entire day to get to St Petersburg Florida to do interviews, then I drove down to Fort Lauderdale and was supposed to do interviews in route But they were canceled so that threw me off. Then I realized I was driving into a historic rainfall. I was going to do these interviews at an event, a bodybuilding competition. But the historic rainfall made it hard to do the interviews on location. So I had to improvise and this was done last minute in the back of a kava bar which is completely not ideal. I did about 25 interviews on this run and I didn't sleep most of the time. My Airbnb was flooded out so I had to get a last minute one next to a railroad track that operated 24/7. Then I tried to sleep in my car in Miami didn't sleep at all the night before doing this interview. So these are all done very run and gun and this is the best I can do. I could probably bump the exposure up based on luma keys. I might do that later. But this is just TH-cam so it doesn't need to be produced any better than this. I'm a one-man show with zero support and zero budget doing in this all out of passion. And as far as I'm concerned these are much better than your stereotypical zoom meetings that aren't even edited. Hopefully it's good enough! If I use it in a compilation later I can bring the exposure up a little maybe If I feel like it really is too low based on the luminance panel which scientifically determines it. It could be that your brightness is just too light. It's hard to predict how things are going to look on different devices.

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I just looked again and it looks like she's lit perfectly. The exposure on her face is not blown out. If I brought it up anymore it would probably blow out her highlights. It's more important to expose for the subject's face than the surrounding. And there's only so much I can do lighting wise when I'm crunched for time in someone's place of business where there's all kinds of distractions and I didn't even want to shoot this to begin with. But yeah maybe if I threw more lights in different locations it would feel more evenly lit or something

      @@alexandruturza7131 so why exactly do you choose to consume animals when it's completely unnecessary?

      @@VeganLinked I have done quite a lot of research and it seems that vegan diet might be a problem due to the following:
      - anti-nutrients found in plants,
      -the body is not able to absorb vitamins/minerals from plants;
      -the lack of all essential aminoacids;
      -excess of cereals, fructose, carbohydrates is a problem on vegan diet (due to glycation, insulin resistence and metabolic syndrome)

      @@louisaklimentos7583 to each to their own you say? But when a person eats an animal they are contradicting that. And none of those diet you mentioned except for a well planned vegan one has support from the largest health organizations. So you're just regurgitating quackery nonsense. A well planned vegan diet is supported by American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the National Health Association, Kaiser Permanente, Medicare, National Academy of Medicine, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, World Health Organization, even the CDC, etc you have nothing for those other diets. We even go as far as having Hippocrates Wellness, TrueNorth, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, NutritionFacts, Ornish Program, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, etc. Does other diets you mentioned have nothing except for people wanting to hear good news about their bad habits following anecdotes and people overcompensating bodybuilder type pushers of business-as-usual with no evidence of significance much less anyting indicative of longevity or anywhere near as long as the evidence for whole plant Foods. I mean the National Health Association alone just celebrated their 75th annual conference. But those diets you mentioned are totally fad, and gravely bad, short-sighted, purely anecdotal based like every fad diet has no matter how bad it is, and is an overdone outdated experiment that only results in horrific conditions for billions of animals and puts us all at risk for more zoonotic diseases and the resulting more violence based culture, sicker family and friends and higher Health cost, invasive and overused and tainted resources, etc no diet that involves consuming animal body parts, organs and secretions will ever be close to being comparable to a well-planned vegan diet because they well-planned vegan diet will always be superior in that it does not depend on intentional slaughter and consumption of animals. So right of the bat a vegan diet is just better by default. Because it doesn't involve hurting animals, it doesn't require forcing animals into existence and then sustaining those 70 billion animals while a billion people starve, and a vegan diet is less invasive to precious land, resources and wildlife. And veganic farming isn't toxic to local communities, soils, or waterways and will not create dead zones, and your concentrated animal feeding operations in slaughterhouses will breed more zoonotic diseases that we all have to deal with. So right away everything you're saying is completely flawed when you try to include vegan in the same equation as other diets like that involve eating animals.
