    From 8:11 to 8:20?? How do the rotors knock against each other? I can understand thermal growth of the rotors? How does a normal supercharger live without locking itself up, without a clutched pulley? I don't think I have ever seen a blowoff or bypass pulley in the installation of a VMP supercharger?

      Preston Hemmen I have one question is there a reason that mustang owners like their cars to be overly loud
      They want the loudest exhaust
      They want the thing to whine like a baby
      They want it to pop and backfire
      They want it to blow flames out the exhaust

    I see a ported blower w bigger TB, a custom intercooler cartridge with a custom lid and of course a ported manifold and heads!

    • @drjotting
      @drjotting 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mark Bulva All good ideas but heads already CNC like the GT350. I believe they flow 5% better. That inlet between TB and rotor pack has largest bang for buck as the restriction.

    Ford Australia Supercharged a 5.0 Coyote back in 2010 through to 2014 in the Falcon FPV Sedan and utility. The Supercharger was developed by Harrop Engineering and was a 1.9 litre capacity. The engines produced 315 and 335 KW with a Police special rated at 400 KW.

    Just one problem… The air doesn’t compress inside the rotors and then get blown out in a compressed state, it simply gets blown around the rotors and compresses upon exiting the rotors.

    Doesn’t the clutched pulley help with belt longevity preventing belt slip at rapid rpm changes?

    • @Screamn03
      @Screamn03 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leland Holton yes. It lets the rotors over-run freely so the accessory drive doesn’t take the force of trying to slow the rotors down to engine RPM on gear change.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, though we never had an issue with belt life on the older GT500s at this power level.

    So is that the only intercooler for this thing or is that just a second line of defense to make sure you're definitely getting cold air?? I have never seen a intercooler inside a supercharger before...

    • @coltonwalters689
      @coltonwalters689 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most sit inside the intake manifold, underneath the blower discharge port... this one is kinda ass backwards, the rotors are on the bottom of the blower blowing up... Yes that’s the only intercooler, doesn’t do any good to cool the air before it gets compressed.

    Do I get the hint that VMP is going to produce a more powerful and larger blower for the GT500? I think so! Wonder how much more power you can bump the 2020 GT500 up with just a bigger blower, bigger injectors and fuel system and other corresponding modifications that will help support each other for such high horsepower numbers.

      You'll stir up a hornet's nest. Generally speaking the advantages of the roots are cost of manufacturing and the bypass. Twin screw systems are adiabatically more efficient as they actually screw the air between the rotors. Roots style "pumps" the air around the rotors and between the casing. Hence the coating he referenced. In some ways it's similar to the pump on a jet ski. If the Delrin shroud that surrounds the impeller wears, the amount of force is reduced (which is why rental skis that have been flogged almost always go much slower than new skis). Anyway, that tolerance between the casing is crucial, but also a concern because of the rotors scrape the casing they can send shavings through your motor. The solution? Something that can mate tight to the casing but not nuke the motor if it sends through. At the end of the day, twin screw is generally superior because it'll make more power with less heat (all things being equal) but they're also GENERALLY more expensive. But these latest rounds of TVS variants are up in the price range of a twin screw (which makes no sense). For guys running E85 or race fuel, the differences shrink, but for guys running 93, IATs are huge. If a twin screw can produce 10lbs of boost and do it at a noticeably lower temperature, that's going to mean a big power difference in what timing and what power output the motor can safely make. Intercooling helps, but again, apples to apples a 3cubic foot cooler will cool better on a twin screw than a roots. So in theory you can run more boost at the same temp, same boost at lower temp or whatever combo makes more power. Roots have come a long way, but just know the whole reason they're popular is because it's generally cheaper technology and machining
