    Great, highly informative and insightful video!
    Plus, I was really impressed by the quality of audio/video recording!
    May I ask you a favour or help -:
    a) May I know what mic are you using to record the audio?
    b) What smartphone/camera are you using for the video recording?
    Thanking you profusely from the bottom of my heart!

    Congratulations on your swim, such a big inspiration! I am from the country of Georgia in eastern Europe. Currently, nobody from my country has ever swam the English channel, and i am considering taking on the challenge in the future (i am 17 right now). I understood the steps i need to take in order to take part in this challenge, although i have a question. Would it be really beneficial to start training in the black sea? I searched that black sea can get as cold if not colder than the English channel (right now it's 11 Celcius).

      Swimming in similar conditions will certainly help your chances of success and will prepare you for the channel vs just pool swimming.

    That's kind of ridiculous. Do I have to wait 2-3 years?? I'm ready to do this in the next year!

      Unless you luck out because someone cancels their spot that is the wait list generally. If you want to do it next year I would recommend writing to boat captains like yesterday!

    Thanks! I'm going to do an EC relay in june 2024. The position that you sign for with boat must be just as important with Relay as it is with solo, is it? I still don't totally understand that but kind of!!

      Yup position is important whether it is solo or relay. A 1 or 2 position gives you a better chance that you will have the opportunity to swim. Good luck and have fun!

    Can I do this by renting a sailboat and have a captain friend to follow me and skip all of this, as in I will be doing it outside the organization?

      I don't believe so otherwise you will have major issues with English and French coast guards.

    I am 15 right now, and I would like to swim it next summer when I am 16. Can I do it?

    • @EnduranceSwimming

      You must be 16 years old on the day the swim commences.

    Before I book my swim, what level swimmer should I be? I do want to swim the English Channel, but my best swim was 3h50 in 21C wearing a neoprene top. I think I might need more than 2-3 years to prep, what do you think?

    • @EnduranceSwimming
      @EnduranceSwimming  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hard to tell without knowing more but in order to qualify for the swim you will be required to do a 6hr swim in a normal bathing suite in about 16C or less. You should also be a strong swimmer. Feel free to contact me for a bit more info.

    Roughly what does it cost in US dollars to swim the English Channel?

    • @EnduranceSwimming
      @EnduranceSwimming  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boat is around $5000-$6000, the application fee is about $700-$800 plus travel and lodging costs.

      Not in the English Channel but there are other marine life like porpoises and jelly fish.

    how do they have a federation & association for this swim. So much of this is garbage. Why not just get out there, get a pilot, swim?

      I get the frustration, yeah, but in this case it's more than just the popularity of the swim: the route crosses what is one of the (and probably still is *the* single) busiest shipping channel on the planet, with France and England managing the waters as signatories to a bunch of international agreements (UNCLOS, IMO, MARPOL). There's an insane amount of heavy commercial shipping and local fishing traffic, ferries back and forth, recreational craft, military ... its ... busy.

      In order for it to be considered a sanctioned swim there must be official observers provided by one of those two organizations.
