    It feels pretty natural to want to stand up during acceleration so the boards drill seems actually pretty useful to correct that tendency, thanks.

      5 quick steps on your toes. The full blade shouldn't hit the ice until you start striding. From a guy who was untouchable in any race from a standing start.

    knees should go low and forward, not upwards. you should not push hard into the ice with first steps, but more like doing light jumps forward. You don't need to bend aggressively towards. Otherwise its all inefficient.

    looks good but do you get to full extension stride?

      Yes, but remember your first 3 strides are generally going to have a lot quicker turnover rate than when you are in full stride. You don’t want to sacrifice power into the ice/stride length, but you also don’t want to loose turnover either.

      Sure it does but so does everything else you do--stopping, tight turns, punch turns, and anything else you do that's aggressive. But that's why you get your skates sharpened.
