I hope whom ever buys your house is a gardener! They will get a wonderful house and garden. Love the idea of leaving the oak, I planted 3 live oaks in our front yard. I thought they took years to get big, boy was I wrong! 30 years later, they are massive! Very pretty but lost most of our Bermuda grass because of the shade. I’m ok with that and have planted shade tolerant shrubs, turks cap, and hoping to find the lovely yellow salvia like yours. Always love your videos, thank you for the tour!
What a treasure your garden is and I love to see all the beautiful blooms. Very inspiring and just a joy to see and hear tid bits. Im hoping this year to order a texas rock rose for my own NC garden. Thank you for the inspiration. Christy
Here in outside of Houston, I just finish bringing my succulents upside for the 7 freezing nights or so coming. Beautiful garden, love its variety of plants❤
Beautiful show for Jan! Here in MS we have already had die back and more freezing temps this week. I have a greenhouse where I keep my tropicals in. I am a Jo too and my orange cat is a Buddy! Hope all goes well for you this winter. Where are you moving to in CO? I have lived in Denver, Greeley (had a huge veg. garden there) and Ft. Collins. N MS Z8.
Houston roller coaster weather this year has been crazy. I have my regular azaleas blooming(the ones that only bloom in March) clematis just bloomed again this year, roses going nuts just like yours, and spring bulbs coming up. Seems like all the plants are confused. Also I'm trying your grocery-store carrot tip, needed something temporary to fill before my showpiece ruby slippers hydrangea takes off(high hopes for this). I think the only thing I'm covering is my tricolor ginger, the new carrots, and a bed of coleus that I'm not ready to part with yet. Pots in the garage just to be safe with our notoriously unpredictable weather.
I snapped a pic of the pretty unidentified blue sage. My plant app is coming up with anything from nutsedge( not) or an azure blue sage.(other name pitcher blue sage) the flowers on pitcher blue look lighter than the one you have though and the leaves look more silvery. Your plant is quite a mystery
I don't even know if it's going to get that cold for us south of 59/I-10. I think all my cool flowers (calendula, snaps, larkspur, and California poppy) won't even be phased. I am going to bring in my nasturtium because they are sensitive along with my strawflowers.
I’m watching the forecasts this evening, and other than my begonias and maybe kolanchoes, I don’t really *need* to cover much. I’ll be surprised if it frosts at all in my yard. I’m glad we didn’t schlep all the pots into the garage!
I’m seeing 4 nights at 30-32 on the forecast. I have a few things I’m saving but not making a big thing of it! Question, do you have clay soil or sandy? I read areas of Houston have sandy ( and maybe more acidic ) and I’m jealous
@@marleneegan-hm7lr you always have to double check what weather station they are using. Houston is sooooo big, but they will often only use the official weather station (which is at IAH, I believe). I will always check the Hobby weather station because it's the best proxy for me in Museum Park.
I got so tickled when you said none of your kids brought the leaves you asked them to bring for Christmas. Not only would mine not have done it, there would have been a long text thread between them…”Did mom ask YOU to bring her other people’s leaves😂😂😂😂.”
Buttercup is happy to spend the night inside if it’s too cold! Unfortunately Mrs.Doubtfire is too feral. After 7 years, I still can’t touch her. She has, and I’m not even kidding, SEVEN choices of heated beds/blanket forts/amazon pet shelters both in the garage and in the patio. Her favorite currently is a cardboard box lined with heating pads and wool blankets with a little roof made of blankets on top. I’d give anything to have her on the food of my bed! Hope springs eternal.
Colorado! How exciting! I hope you’ll document your gardening adventures when you move.

Your garden is looking beautiful! Looks like we are getting g a harder freeze next week. Yikes!
I always give my plants a good watering before a freeze.
Thank you for sharing!
Is the plant at 43:25 a partridge pea? It looks familiar.
If you were closer, I would go and get that metal chicken from you, I like it 😊

There's still so much blooming and the foliage is still green in your garden. Happy New Year 🎉🎆🎊 and all the best for 2025 🎇
I do love Houston in winter!
Happy new year to you!🎉🎉
When did you sow your bluebonnets? I sowed mine in late October, and I only have little baby plants.
Good idea to keep the oak seedling IMO

@ true, thanks I will
@@JosTXGarden that's the worst! My cats are indoors, so they loooove when plants come inside 😂
I think that could be some type of Red Oak.

Do the kitties go inside in bad weather?

@@JosTXGardenplease take both with you. They may not have as understanding a landlord.
I randomly have a lone zinnia that is blooming now if you can believe that.
